WOYWW....

What a different sort of week it's been so far.  I had to work/sew on Saturday this week because I had an Army Major needing lots of work doing to update his uniforn ready for a move to Wiltshire.

 I had to

  • replace 6 buttons
  • remove 6 pips on his shoulders and replace them with two crowns
  • sew on 4 new badges, 3 of which were really stiff and hard to sew on so these had to be done using my artery forceps. Now is your cue to look away if you're squeamish.

I was pushing really hard to get the needle to go through the badges that when my needle suddenly slipped the back end of it ran into my finger where the x is and ended up in ?bone!!  I had to quickly pull in back out using the artery forceps...ouch!!

I felt the colour drain from my face lol.  As you can see in the bottom pic I ended up with a rather bruised finger....thankfully it's feeling much better now...

n.b. KEEP YOUR ARTERY FORCEPS CLOSE BY JAN....you never know when you might need them!

As for what is on my desk today here it is....

The animal print school bag needed a strap repairing ready for returning to school this week and the Christmas fabrics are out to make a batch of Christmas face masks plus I have to make a few more flowery ones as a special order for a customer.

It was of course a Bank Holiday here in England on Monday and Tuesday was my return to looking after Theo so that his mummy could go back to school plus of course we will be puppy sitting for Maisie too now so there will be no sewing for me on Tuesdays  from now on....unless Covid steps in and shuts us down again.

Hugs,

Annie x

We are in a pickle in our town with Covid, glad my 14 day after the op is over and all is well. Must say I had plans to stay separated in the home but was so pleased with the level of care in the hospital that I didn't in the end. Hope you don't get shut down! So here's to baby sitting Tuesdays!
Your finger story made my tummy go inwards. Ouch!
Hugs, Neet 5 xx

Happy WOYWW. Ouch, that needle incident sounds painful. Lucky that you were quick thinking and could get it pulled out. Wonderful that you could work on a uniform - very satisfying. Ali x #4

Oooh-Tuesdays are going to be great fun with Theo and Maisie! Ouch about your finger and glad it is healing. My friend and I are making Christmas masks for family and friends tomorrow-we kind of said it last week as a maybe. But three areas of Scotland are now locked down for two weeks, so we reckon we’ll still be wearing masks at Christmas. Happy sewing!

Wow, Tuesdays are going to be fun at your place from now on with Theo and two dogs!! Oooh, I'm sorry about your finger accident, I stab myself with needles quite frequently (am so ham fisted) but never as badly as that. Thank god for the forceps and yes, I will take your warning, lol!! Love the sweet peas header pic btw, so gorgeous!

Morning Annie. Ouch! Glad you are recovering from both the wound and the shock!! My word, your Tuesdays are going to be manic. You will be needing Wednesdays off to recover - good thing there is WOYWW to distract you...
Take care. God bless.

Ohhh it's a good thing you were a nurse, because I would have passed out! Lot's of projects completed, even with an injury ~ Enjoy puppy sitting :)

Ouch, that sounds painful - I was wincing just reading that. Could it not have been glued instead of sewn? It's sounds like it's not suitable for sewing. Hope your finger is feeling better now. Christmas masks mean you're not being very optimistic about this being over by Christmas - but I guess, you're right. Just spotted some puppy photos in your previous post - must go check them out! Take care Annie! xx zsuzsa #18

I feel for you Annie! I had a few accidents in the past when I was teaching but luckily it was nearly always me rather than the children. Hope the finger's feeling better soon. Enjoy your forced rest on a Tuesday....what am I saying, rest....not likely! but they do say "A change is as good as a rest" well that's what they say Lol! Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x10x

Ouch, that sounds painful Annie. Good job you had the forceps to hand.
Blimey don't mention xmas masks to my lot, I've actually had a bit of crafty time this week after another batch of mask making at the weekend. I ran out of elastic so just waiting for some to be delivered to finish them.
Enjoy babysitting

Oooh ouch ouch, Annie! That looks awful! I hope it heals up OK. Very nasty. Sewing tough stuff like that is always a challenge, isn't it. I hope he appreciates it (and also that you didn't end up with blood all over it!!).

Happy belated WOYWW,

Ouch, so sorry about your poor finger...respect! Will look out for bruised and swollen fingers in the locale and assume they belong to a Military Tailor! I think Christmas masks will be a thing, so well done on being ahead of the game again! The Memory Bears you made for me are located in Wiltshire (SP) Hampshire (SP) Worthing (BN) and Cornwall (TR). Not sure if you’re counting where they live or the address of the buyer. Either way, you now know!!

OUCH..for me sewing on these things was the hardest job I ever did for my sons. Scouts/school emblems and a few basic military. Thank goodness my son has all his done by a professional like you. We are too far apart now. I just can't think of Christmas. You have some gorgeous flowers greeting us
Have a great weekend. I hope your finger heals well, stay safe.
