WOYWW....

Here we are at the last day in September already and it's 'What's on my desk' day again.  I have to say there is very little I can show you this week.  There has been developments with the Luna Lapin rabbit but it will be a while until I can share that with you sorry...It's for someone who reads my blog.

I have had no customers this week apart from a few orders for more face masks so...

I've made another batch of Adult sized face masks to keep in stock and, as I have already sold many Christmas masks, I have topped up the selection of those too.

The only other things on my desk today are my cards and envelopes to make a start with my Christmas card....so many of you have already made lots that you have put me to shame.....as you can see I've not started to make them yet!!

I am off on a delivery challenge with my darling other half today so it will be tomorrow before I get the chance to do my visits but I will get there at some point.  Hope you're all keeping well and happy.

Hugs,

This week's smiles....week 390

Well, that week flew by.  They say time flies when you're having fun and it's sure been right here this week.

Saturday saw my darling hubby attending his first football match [wearing his blue face mask I made him] for over 6 months.  Shrewsbury town was chosen to be a trial team to allow a limited number of supporters to attend to watch the match live and Dod was lucky enough to be one of the 1000 to get a ticket.

Sadly they have now changed the rules and there will be no more crowds allowed in the watch sports events for the foreseeable future....but they can't away what's gone so he was happy to be one of the lucky ones.

Sunday was Lexi, Sam and Gina's birthdays so there was a lot of celebrating going on.  It all luckily was able to fit in the 'only 6 in a group' and a wonderful time was had by all.

Who would have believed it was 9 years since the twins were born?

For those that didn't see on Wednesday this was the Luna Lapin rabbit I made for Gina for her birthday....she had forgotten she had asked me to make one for her so it was a surprise when she opened it.....what really made me smile was I had forgotten to take a photo of her and Gina and Mark had enjoyed posing her to get the right photo for me :-)

The other pics I wanted to share with you were a couple of funnies I saw on Facebook that made me chuckle...

....they just appealed to my sense of humour so I'm hoping they make you smile too.

That's all from me for this week.  I hope I've shared something to make you smile and you will do the same by linking up below....we really need all the smiles we can get at the mo.

WOYWW...

Here we are at another of our Wednesday catch ups with all our creative blogging friends all around the world....I love Wednesdays.

This is my desk this morning....in between sewing jobs for my customers I've been working on my 10th Luna Lapin rabbit.

It was Gina's birthday on Sunday so she unwrapped her rabbit [I made a while ago but couldn't share a pic 'til now]...she had forgotten she had asked me to make her one so it was a lovely surprise....she's thrilled to bits with it.

The other things I've been making this week are a few masks using the pattern Jan sent me the link to....they allow a little more breathing space so although they were a bit like origami to make the effort was worth it....the blue one was made in Shrewsbury town's football colours for Dod to go to the match on Saturday....he was one of the lucky 1000 to get a ticket for the trial match with a crowd.

That's all from me for today.  I hope you're all well and happy and have had a really creative week.

Hugs,

This week's smiles....week 389

Another week has flown by here at Sewing by Annie's....and I'm still smiling :-)....I hope you are too and will share yours with us by linking up at the bottom.

Last weekend saw these little cousins having a play time [before the new 6 in a group rules].  Theo enjoyed showing his cousins all his new birthday presents and Lulu especially loved meeting little Maisie for the first time.

On Tuesday we took Theo to Ellesmere lakes to feed the swans and ducks.  We bought two bags of special food for them as requested and fed a lots of very hungry birds as you can see....one of the geese even decided to try nibbling at my toes!!

Theo will be going to school next September so the plan is to make the best of what time we have left before he goes....I well remember doing exactly the same for his daddy [seems like only yesterday!!].

Here's my latest collage from the garden...isn't it all looking autumnal now?

I love watching now the colours and seasons change in the garden....those are crab apples in the top right pic.  We have two little trees full of crab apples...and the birds don't seem to eat them sadly.

That's all from me for this week.  I hope you are all well and happy.

WOYWW...

Hello all...I've been at it again!  Between all the sewing jobs that are now coming through my door I've been making more face masks only this time they are for Christmas...and yes they are selling well already! So I've restocked them already and this is the second batch...

As I look at it the need for wearing face masks isn't going away anytime soon so we may as well wear something that will put a smile on a few faces....and it seems many think like me so I will be making more of these.
I am still making other masks to order as demand for those is much less now.

I am still making more Memory Bears...this one is for a child from the school close to us....I love seeing the pleasure each bear gives....there's a lot of love in the making of each one.

I have also...
  • Taken in 3 dresses for Gina who has lost a lot of weight.
  • Patched and darned a pair of working trousers for Mark.
  • Taken in a top for a customer and
  • Recovered a bed head for the same customer.
There's never 2 weeks the same here :-)

This week's smiles....week 388

Well, that week flew by for me....how about you?

We had a long weekend away in our motor home with Milly and although she is now 4 and has never liked water until now she decided she would take the plunge.  It was a really lovely campsite that we had taken our children to when they were little and has a steam running through it that they used to love paddling in and for what ever reason our little Milly decided she needed to paddle in it too.
It really made us smile because she did it like it was something she had always done before :-)

On Monday this week our 'little' Theo had his 4th birthday....doesn't time fly?
They were away for the weekend at the seaside so he had his birthday present from us on Tuesday when we babysat him and Maisie.  The top two pics are of him building his present from us with his Grandad....precious memories being made.

As Theo's mummy left for work little Maisie whimpered a little so Theo got down from the table where he was playing and went over to give her a cuddle and said...'It's ok Maisie, Mummy has only gone to work, you've still me here'.

He's such a loving little boy.

Finally for those that enjoy my garden flowers here's my latest collage.  On the top left is a new little Rowan tree we have planted so that the birds can enjoy the berries.

That's all from me for today.  Please leave me a little comment and link to your own smiles below.  I did visit you all last week but one or two I was unable to leave comments on because the internet was poor on our campsite.

WOYWW...

Here we are at another wonderful Wednesday's catch up with all our creative friends all around the world...if you'd like to know more then pop over to Julia's at the Stamping Ground for details and please join in the fun.

We had a lovely long weekend away relaxing in our motor home on our favourite campsite in BuilthWells.  We started going there when our children were growing up back in about 1996 when we had a trailer tent and have really happy memories from there.  It's a family run site and the little girl our children used to play with is now the proud mum of a gorgeous little boy.  The site is now run by the next generation of the family and it has grown lots but still maintains very high standards so we love it there.

Now what you have really come to see is my desk...it's a two for one today cos I'm rather spread out...nothing new there.  I'm just glad there is a door on my sewing room so I can just shut it at the end of each day.

This is my machine on the left of my desk where I'm set up for mask making.  I have made a start at a batch of Christmas masks but other sewing has had to be done first so I've been working on my other machine on the right of my desk and the bright colourful fabrics on the right of this pic are the cut offs from the 4 dresses I've been shortening.

This is the end of my cutting table and, as you can see, I've got items of school uniform to make another Memory bear out of....and that's what I will be doing today so please be patient with me...I will get round to as many desks as I can, I promise.

I hope you are all well and happy and enjoying life.
Hugs,

This week's smiles ....week 387

Hello all. Hope you've all had a great week filled with smiles and will share them with us by linking up at the bottom of the page.

It's a quick post from me because life here is a bit hectic at the mo.  I've got customers coming and going each day now :-)

It's been a back to school week for some...Here's the twins posing for the start of their next school year.  Of course none of them have been to school for the last 6 months and there's lots of changes for them all.

Lulu and Steve went back on Wednesday....and for the first time there's just the two of them because.....

Phoebe started at her new secondary school yesterday. She was a little nervous going but once she met her best buddy at the school gate they went in happily together.  I love how Amy has collaged her school days from the very start here.

We spent the weekend building a pergola outside our kitchen doors and I really love it.  It makes me smile every time I look at it.  We have planted a clematis up the one side and a wisteria up the other so it should look lovely once they have grown up.

A few months back we repotted our Orchids putting them all in see through pots with new Orchid bark and it's really paid off.  They are all blooming their hearts out and the little one at the front [that nearly got thrown out because it appeared dead] has now got 3 lovely new leaves growing on it too so the smiles keep on coming.

That's all from me for this week.  Please join in the fun by sharing your smiles too because the world really needs all the smiles it can get just now.

Hugs,

WOYWW....

What a different sort of week it's been so far.  I had to work/sew on Saturday this week because I had an Army Major needing lots of work doing to update his uniforn ready for a move to Wiltshire.

 I had to

  • replace 6 buttons
  • remove 6 pips on his shoulders and replace them with two crowns
  • sew on 4 new badges, 3 of which were really stiff and hard to sew on so these had to be done using my artery forceps. Now is your cue to look away if you're squeamish.

I was pushing really hard to get the needle to go through the badges that when my needle suddenly slipped the back end of it ran into my finger where the x is and ended up in ?bone!!  I had to quickly pull in back out using the artery forceps...ouch!!

I felt the colour drain from my face lol.  As you can see in the bottom pic I ended up with a rather bruised finger....thankfully it's feeling much better now...

n.b. KEEP YOUR ARTERY FORCEPS CLOSE BY JAN....you never know when you might need them!

As for what is on my desk today here it is....

The animal print school bag needed a strap repairing ready for returning to school this week and the Christmas fabrics are out to make a batch of Christmas face masks plus I have to make a few more flowery ones as a special order for a customer.

It was of course a Bank Holiday here in England on Monday and Tuesday was my return to looking after Theo so that his mummy could go back to school plus of course we will be puppy sitting for Maisie too now so there will be no sewing for me on Tuesdays  from now on....unless Covid steps in and shuts us down again.

Hugs,

Annie x
