WOYWW....

Hello all.  Did I speak too soon last week?  As soon as I think the demand for face masks is easing off the Government anounces that it is now compulsory to wear them on all public transport and my orders increase again.  Thankfully so far this week I haven't had to slot in bear making too but I did have a pair of jeans dropped off for me to shorten by 5 cm....I can't see me be able [or happy] to do fittings anytime soon so for now it's just alterations that don't need me to pin them up first.

So today I'm sharing a few pics taken from my last week...

Here's the first completed order of 15 masks for Barclays Bank in Chelsea, London.  I've not heard about more being needed from the bank yet but we will see....I'm happy with an order of this size now and then.

For those that don't see my masks on my Sewing by Annie Facebook page this is how I display them for folk to choose which they want....I did a quick count up and there was 42 different adult masks to choose from and.....

....30 different children's masks to choose from.

I so enjoy using all the different fabrics.  Each mask is backed with a different cotton fabric so they are all reversable and I love using different combinations of fabrics for each one.

Yesterday morning I delved into what few fabrics I had left and found a few small pieces of different fabrics I'd not used before to extend the choice of childrens masks a little further.....I like to give my customers as much choice as I can.

This a 'Jo made me do it' sort of pic.
One of our small knitting/sewing shops is sadly closing down thanks to Covid and they are selling off all their stock.  The shop is just down the road from Jo's and she was calling in to give some support to the shop owner.  She said they were selling off 6 fat quarters for just £10 so of course I couldnt refuse....could I?  It's really lovely fabric so I may need a little time to stroke it before taking my scissors to it.

If I'm honest I have also ordered more fabrics from Cabin Crafts too [well worth a look if you're a sewer]...a girl can't make masks without fabrics can she?
That's all from me for this week.  I'm thrilled to say I'm being kept busy with sewing [many thanks to my blogging friends that have ordered face masks from me...you know who you are].  It's making this difficult time so much easier to get through.
Hugs,
annie x

You are an amazing crafter/seamstress to be now getting corporate orders. Well done and of course you had to buy the fabric we have to support local stores and hopefully there will not be more closures in the future. Stay safe as you create.

I shall have a look at Cabin crafts as I don't have enough pinky floral fabrics I've decided. I'm not a fabric stroker tending to dive straight in, lol! I'm making more masks as well as it's going that way in Wales too!

Sorry I didn't order from you but I was determined to make some myself. I friend knowing I was worried about going to the hospital had a friend make me one too and I had already ordered a couple a long time ago (like at the beginning).
Glad you are being kept busy by others though.

Hi Annie, I'm filling in a bit of time between talking to mum as we're waiting for the care team to arrive. I'm sure she will feel more relaxed once they've been as she gets a bit anxious until she knows everything is up and running properly. That is quite a collection of masks you have there and the Barclays ones look very smart. We're still wearing hubby's Tool Station masks which are very good but don't look anywhere as nice as yours. Sending you big woyww hugs and wishing you a lovely week, Angela x19x

Oh wow Annie, they are amazing. I love the Barclays ones. I only made about 40 but that was enough for me not being a profitant sewist like you. I suspect we may be asked to wear then more and more over the coming weeks.
Good Luck with it all

Hi Annie, you must be going through fabric at a rate of knots! They are all so bright and colourful, I can see why they're so popular. Don't think mask wearing will stop anytime soon, to be honest. Good old Jo, keeping you up to date with sales, lol. Have a lovely week,Stay Safe, Hugs, Shaz #13 X

Hi Annie, love all your face masks, I just popped over to your FaceBook page to see how much your masks cost. I left you a message as I could see a price. Yesterday on the TV they saying masks should have 3 layers with the outside layer being a waterproof one. I was going to have a go at making some, but I don’t seem to have some Suitable fabric and my sewing is not brilliant. Happy WOYWW Angela #28

Hi Annie, I suppose I really should plug my sewing machine in and figure out a pattern to make some masks for me and my family, as it seems people are going to be made to wear them. I have some cute material left over from the childrens quilts which I'm sure they would love. You made me laugh when you said you need a little time to strike the new materials before you take your scissors to it! Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx #3

That sounds just the right sort of busy - keeping you distracted but not totally overwhelmed. I love the new maroon fabric but it's so sad when independent retailers have to close. I hope they can all come back from it. Have a great week, Lisa-Jane #23

Spot on with the Barclays blue for their masks! I hate taking up jeans, its been a while so its not a common problem here. I think largely because my sewing machine is really too domestic and puny for denim in folded form! I understand why people are wearing masks, but I shall not until it becomes mandatory. Also, it makes it really hard for us dearies, you dont realise how much you rely on seeing mouths and facial expression!

Wow, Annie, that's a LOT of masks! You have arranged them so artistically for the photos. They look lovely with all the different coloured fabrics.
