Hello and a happy Wednesday to you all. I've changed to the new blogger and this is my first go with it so we will see how it goes....wish me luck :-)
The demand on the face masks has eased this week but I've been busy making Memory bears and still have more to come this week yet.
Here's the 5 memory bears that came last week....
They each had to be different and I was given clear instructions as to which items of clothing were to go on each bear but......
- Every item of fabric had to be backed with interfacing because they were all stretchy
- Some items were light weight, some much thicker and some were even fluffy so they all needed careful balancing out to make each bear and
- The one in the front was to have a little gilet made out of Grandma's gilet
As you know I love a challenge and these 5 were certainly that but at times like that I do feel I get a little devine help because the gilet went together perfectly [no pattern!] and the finished results were really loved by my customer so that made all the extra work well worth it.
Since then I've made this lovely pair out of a much loved Grandad's shirts...no interfacing needed with these and they went together with ease.
I thought I'd share this lovely comment left on my Facebook Post about my face masks by the Bank manager of Barclays Bank...it sure made me smile :-)
Since I started making face masks on 17th April I have saved all the empty cotton reels I've used to make the [very nearly 1000] facemasks.
On top of that I've bought and used well over £300 worth of fabrics and several huge reels of elastic. It's been really lovely using all the gorgeous fabrics and quite challenging to keep up with the demand.
I have a feeling there will still be a demand especially if the government reduce the social distance to just 1 metre so watch this space.
I appear to have got to the end of this week's WOYWW with no real problems with writing my blog on the new set up apart from the fact I can now only download one photo at a time and no spell check now?...which is a bit of a pain....anyone else have the same?

I'm finding the new Blogger ok as well with no major problems at all - the uploading of photos one at a time is a pain in the bum but hey ho, worse things happen at sea! Lovely bears, I do like the check fabric very much!

Beautiful bears and will be much loved. Glad to hear the mask making is easing but with a second wave predicted, you may be busy again. I tried a new style of bag this week but I’m not convinced I like! Happy sewing. Catriona
Wow - all that thread and £300 worth of fabric - that's some work load over a couple of months. Love the latest bears - you get better and better at creating little treasures. xx Jo
Morning Annie. Well, having read this morning's post, I can confidently say I am off for a lie down!! You never stop - the end results are pretty funky, though! Well done. No idea about the new blogger, don't use it at all... sorry.
Love the cotton reels - when our daughters got married we made a necklace for each of them out of all the empty cotton reels, and worked out how far the poor needle in my sewing machine had travelled. Five times the height of Snowdon for all of Joy's things - two times the height of Everest for all of Ruth's things!! Poor sewing machine!!!

I cant blog from iPad on new blogger, so am not really using it. Although this morning I wanted to make a change from my dashboard and have to guess what some of the icons mean. They dont even tell you when you click on them. Annoying! Great bears and an impressive collection of empty cotton reels, good grief, that’s many kilometres of thread!

Wow, Annie, you've really made almost 1000 face masks? You must be able to do them in your sleep! Lovely bears and probbaly some people don't appreciate the work that goes into them when there special requirements. You've so done well with the challenges thrown at you! I really cannot be bothered with the new Blogger system, it just takes too long and until they improve it I'm staying where I am. I've been on their forum and I'm not the only one that feels it's not a good upgrade and they are asking people to tell them what the problems are so that they can improve things so I hope people do report the problems they have with it. Hi Annie, it's most odd, I'm not finding any difference between the old & new Blogger, only had a font size issue the first time I switched, but it's been fine since. Goodness that's a lot of cotton! I guess the plus side of all this is that with the masks, I bet you've used any and every kind of design with the same pattern! I don't think there can be any other item you could make that could include any type of design! Have a great week, Lisa-Jane #14
Oh heck - no spellchecker - I'll be cream crackered without one. Not my spelling but typos. I cannot type on a flat keykboard without errors! Well done you your blog page looks great.
Love that your Memory Bears are still flying out of your lovely home, next time you give us the figures please include the date of your first one, it seems ages now.

Well done with all the face masks and memory bears, Annie. I'm glad you got proper recognition from the bank! What a lot of empty cotton reels. Any plans for what you are going to do with them? The two little bears with precious Grandad's shirts are adorable! It's such a lovely idea to reserve the memories by using the clothes that people wore and loved.

I am still using the old version of blogger Annie, but it appears you can only download one photo at a time on that as well now although the spell check still works. Great job with the bears and all those masks. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7
I too have been using the new blogger. I can download a few photos at a time but they do not stay available to use again later in the post - you have to download again. My main issue is fonts and sizes - I can't seem to find one that suits me and because I like to copy and paste I get all sorts of different sizes happening. Hopefully things will improve!
