This week's smiles....week 396

The weeks are flying by aren't they?  It will be Christmas before we know it so I really must get my act into gear and make some Christmas cards some time soon.....need to find my Christmas mojo first though.  I have enjoyed making outfits for a little visitor I had this week though...you can see the results in my Wednesday post if you want a chuckle....I'm completely mad but I love creating to make my Grandchildren smile.

I've a few more pics to share with you of the things that have made me smiles this week too...

Sam now has lessons on his electric guitar and his new drums.....I think he really looks the part.

I'm just glad I don't live next door. :-)

The twins helped their mum and dad make their Christmas cake this week...it turned out well but was rather thirsty when cooked because I believe it's already drank a good amount from a bottle of brandy already :-)

Our latest little family member, Betsy, has settled in well and she follows her big sister everywhere. :-)

And finally I thought I would share a collage of the photos I took out in our garden yesterday.  There is still lots of gorgeous colours out there making us smile.

I hope you are all staying safe and well and coping with what ever stage of lockdown you're in right now.

Hugs,

Annie x

Sam the rock star. Way to go!

The twins looked hard at work, but it sounds like that cake is going to need another bottle of brandy!

Your flowers are still a riot of color. So pretty, just like Betsy and Poppy.

Pleased to see everyone keeping busy. Betsy looks so sweet and they've obviously built up a good partnership. The flowers are looking really nice, just what you need to brighten things up a bit. I'm off to work in the cabin this weekend as I have some mucky painting to do and my usual desk is covered in Christmas card stuff though I'm still finding it hard to get going with it. I always say I'll keep going after Christmas but then we go away skiing and it gets forgotten but this year will be different so who knows. Have a lovely end to the week and a happy weekend too. Hugs, Angela xXx

Lovely pics, and yes, I'm glad I don't live next to Sam either. I understand they live out in the country so I don't think it will be a problem. And this is the way to learn. Get lessons when you're young and if you have a good teacher, you'll never forget. Well done Sam! On your way to stardom!
The Christmas cake stirring tradition is being kept alive i see. I remember 'watering' a thirsty cake. A lot of brandy went into mine (when I did one).
As for Christmas cards? I send mine digitally. I have two Christmas birthdays in the family, and they need (double) cards. I will make them cards, and perhaps my mum. It doesn't look like we're going anywhere this Christmas, so that is a real pity. We usually spend Christmas with my mum in Holland. If things change and we can get last minute flights, we'll go.
Little Betsy is gorgeous and your flowers in the garden are beautiful too. Especially the fuchsias. (I love fuchsias)
Yes, my persimmon cakes are lovely, but I only make them because I have persimmons 'coming out of my earholes', but it doesn't make sense to go and buy expensive persimmons just to make a cake. You could use puree of other fruit or even pumpkin puree. But I will send you the recipe by email if you like. It is an easy cake. I found a persimmon upside down cake on the internet, which I made. I decided it was nice but not so nice as to merit all the work (as it was quite elaborate), so I made only the cake part and substituted the butter for oil and the pecans for walnuts. It was delicious.
Have a lovely weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca

Hi Annie. I did smile at young Sam on his drums. As we realised our Jonathan was serious about drumming, we managed to rent him a deserted building on the old Rednal airstrip as a practice room. He and his band mates spent many happy hours there. The only drawback was that he was still young enough to need us to taxi him back and forth!
I am sure the Christmas cake will be yummy.
Your garden is so colourful still. I love the mahonia. I remember when we pruned ours, the wood was bright yellow right through. But all your other flowers are beautiful too. Kate x

Betsy.... awe!! I had a black lab puppy who was my labradaughter and got into just about everything in the house. She was so smart and just beautiful like your Betsy. you've already started on Christmas sewing... I am about ready to as well.

Sorry messed it up but you’ll get the idea. Love Shaz. Reflects how I am!
