This week's smiles...week 121

Hello all.  What a wonderful week it's been.

A lot of you will know what I mean by WOYWW and for those that don't you can find out all about it here at Julia's blog.  This week we all celebrated 6 years of blogging our creative spaces and linking up to folk from all over the world.  Thanks to Julia many Wednesdays of linking up our work desks with others has found many friendships being made....some meeting up in real life and others just enjoying the love and support our blogging friends give us in good times and bad from all corners of the world.  Each year we make ATCs [artist trading cards] to celebrate and swap them with our friends so each day this week my postman has brought me envelopes full of love.....every one of them making me smile.  I plan to snap pics of all I've been sent and will do a show and tell of them on Wednesday so please pop back then to see them.

Thanks to all who joined in our fun here last week again.  We all have so much to be thankful for and sharing our smiles makes the world a happier place doesn't it?  This week I'm featuring Elizabeth's post from last week.  The gorgeous flowers made me smile and her joke of the week really made me chuckle....thanks for sharing it Elizabeth.

This week has been half term holiday so I've not had Nanny school run duties [of course I have still seen them and enjoyed their company :-) ] so my smiles this week are a little different...

I've been playing with some of my favourite fabrics doing a bit more crazy patchwork....these only come out and get used for my special friends :-)

I really love the colours I've been working on here.
This is the next combination of colours I'm going to use for the next piece.

I love sewing in my favourite colours.  How about you?  What are your favourites and do you tend to work with the colours you love or do you find it easy to work with other colours too?

This is another little project I've been working on.  Our garden bench and the two chairs linked with a table in the middle were in need of a lick of stain and thanks to Sam [Hettie] giving us the heads up on the colour she did hers with I have now done the bench.....still needs another coat and haven't started on the other yet.
Isn't it fab.....it makes me smile every time I look at it and will really make our new back garden look lovely when they are both finished.

The other pic I'm sharing with you this week is this one of a flock of starlings on our front lawn.  I'm not sure you will be able to see but the majority of the birds are babies and the adults had brought them down to feed on the ?ants in the lawn.

It was something like the film 'The Birds' at the time but to see so many weaning fledglings at once really made us smile.

There you go.  That's it from me for today.  I hope you have enjoyed my smiles and will link yours up below.
Hugs,
Annie

Love the patchwork, Annie, but the photo that made me smile was your lawn full of starlings!! Have a good week, and I look forward to seeing your atc show and tell next Wednesday.

Fabulous colours in the patchwork Missey. Nice bench! Still waiting for mine to be turned back right so I can give a second coat up top.
Lovely lickle birdies.

Love your starlings! I keep hearing them fly over, gosh they are noisy little things, but as yet they've not bought their babies to my garden! x

Pretty fabric Annie, Our yard with sunshine yesterday brought Starlings. Small quick birds with yellow underside, in large groups hunting bugs. So quick and fly so close, it's kinda scary. Your bench is pretty. I've several paint jobs to complete, but the weather has put a damper on that. Have a good weekend.

Hi Annie, happy Friday. Thought for a bit I wasn't going to get to post tonight...but everything has fallen into place - got my Tims tag finished, made dinner, packed the bag and now I've time to blog. I DO love your fabrics, so nice the colours - I like pretty colours - no black (unless its a skirt or pants) When we get re-settled I'm going to crazy patch my scraps - it's great idea. AND I have a bench to paint too...like your colour. Anyway got to go and do my last post for Our Beautiful World and schedule it for Sunday. Have a wonderful weekend Hugs Robyn

Your patchwork is super, love the fabric and colours so much. What a great mixed post this week from you but where are those munchkins???
It must have been fascinating watching all those starlings. We see lots at our local Morrisons car park and they have become so tame. They are hilarious.
Have you seen the poem about starlings by Pam Ayres ... here's a link... http://www.rspb.org.uk/community/chat/f/17376/t/46316.aspx
Have a great weekend!

I managed to miss yet another Friday Smiles. I have no idea how that happens, because I had planned to share my Memorial Day shots. Guess there's always next week.

Oh Annie, I simply adore those fabrics in your patchwork. I'm a BIG FAN of color and these are truly gorgeous.

Right now, I'm working with all kinds of fabric. Some I love, some is so-so. But it's all for scrappy journal covers, so I'm trying to appeal to the masses, not myself.

I know you're sleeping right now, so I'll wish you an awesome weekend and more smiles to come.

BTW, I've seen a lot of birds in my yard this year, too. Some have been starlings, but not as many as visited you.

What great smiles. I remember birds used to gather on the telephone lines across my parents garden when we were young, ready to migrate.
I love the fabrics, I think I might have some of the patterned one in the second picture. It looks very familiar.

Hi Annie. Sorry it has taken me an age to comment this week. I love the gorgeous colours in your quilt, and I know the blue one will be just as beautiful when it is done.
The bench is a lovely cool colour for garden furniture. I hate all the white plastic though it is mainly what we have, because none of it lasts long in the summer heat, and the plastic is more realistic to keep replacing
I remember when we had a ´murmuration´of starlings all around our house in Oswestry, that flew in fantastic formations every evening for a month or two. I used to stand and watch them for ages, but they made a dreadful mess of the car! But they knew our cats were always around so had the sense to take their young ones elsewhere to feed. Kate x
