WOYWW....

The world is still in a state of change and the rules to keep us safe keep changing but this week I have had my first bridesmaids fittings.  I've donned a face shield and each customer has to wear a face mask to keep us all safe but it works and I've some posh frocks to share with you today....

This is what my rail looks like.  I have....

  • Shortened 2 hems on two of the bridesmaids dresses
  • Lifted another of them at the shoulders and stitched it up a little on the front
  • Shortened the hem on an evening dress and
  • Steamed 4 of the bridesmaids dresses.

Sounds easy?  Well the two bridesmaids dresses I had to shorten were colours I didn't have thread to match so my darling hubby had to pop to our local fabric shop to fetch me matching threads.  Then when I came to steam the dresses my old steamer died....it really owes me nothing but you don't expect these things to die just as you need to steam 4 dresses [and the Wedding is on Sunday so I didn't have a lot of time!].  Of course my darling hubby came to the rescue again and ordered me a new one to pick up at our local Argos and then popped to fetch it for me....pleased don't imagine me sitting waiting cos I had plenty to keep me busy!!

I know many of you like to see my posh frocks so here's a closer look while they are airing after being steamed.  They are for 5 beautiful  teenage bridesmaids. Both the bride and groom have lost their parteners so they are joining two families of 7 children between them and I really couldn't be happier for them all....I feel very blessed to have played my part in making their day perfect.

Finally this is my desk today.  I'm putting together the last of the masks that have already been cut out ready.  I'm selling them off in grab bags [feel free to pop over to my Facebook page if you'd like to grab yourselves a bargain] and imagine when they are gone that will be the last I make ....but who knows?

I'm always happy to take orders but, now I am getting a few fittings, it will be nice to clear my desks of mask making and do something else for a change.

Typical that things die when you least expect them to - thank goodness for Doddy! The dresses are gorgeous and the story behind them even more so. Wonder what you'll sew next?!

Hope the alterations keep coming in for you. You now need to pay for those visors and things out of the profits.
Lovely bridesmaids dresses and what a lovely wedding it is sounding to be - bet it is quite touching with the girls as bridesmaids.
Stay safe and well
Hugs, Neet 7 xx

Nice dresses and clearly in a stylish, muted colour scheme. Can I just say your husband is a superhero! Apart from ordering and getting the steamer - to be trusted with the selection of threads - wow - most of the men folk would find that beyond their competence - I know my husband would - he can't even tell the difference between red and pink LOL! Happy sewing - hope there are no more unforeseen obstacles to overcome! zsuzsa #21

Looks like you've had a busy week. According to my mother, everything is happening at the same time right now so you should have no surprise that things have not been straight forward this week. I hope the wedding goes well for them. Wishing you a very happy woyww and a lovely crafty week, Angela x14x

Oh Annie, what pretty dresses! What a shame you had such problems with no thread and then the steamer breaking down... What would we do without our dear hubbies to help us out! I hope the wedding goes really well, and that the weather is kind. What a big instant family they are going to have! I love your desk with the pretty bunting along the shelf.

Happy WOYWW,

Oh Annie, aren't our DH just the best. Mine too is very supportive and has really had his hands full with me this past few weeks. The story of the family and dresses is really touching..Happiness for all. Here in North Iowa we've had super weather. I've enjoyed walking and spending time Outdoors loving sounds of nature and it's beauty as fall is just around the corner. The garden veggies are about done and soon DH will be in the fields with corn and bean harvest. We are so lucky to have crops this year. Devastation to the south is horrible. Thank you for your visit and kind comments. I am thankful I have ways to keep myself busy. I miss my visits this year with grandkids. Growing so fast and no air travel for me has been so hard. Miss my Mom and happy the storm family found housing only a few doors down from their damaged home. So the 2 dogs can roam in their own fenced yard, 5 vehicles can be in their own garage/driveway all within walking distance. Schools were damaged so bad so will be online learning for those 3 Have a fun weekend and stay safe in this crazy world.

Oh my goodness, what beautiful dresses those are!!! Love the colours! And yes, tools have the tention to break down on the worst times, and I myself usually run out of materials on hours the shops are closed... I'm glad you have a hubby like mine: a rescuer! Thanks for your visit at my blog, have a great weekend, hug from Holland. Marit #8
