This week's smiles.....week 510

It's been another busy week here at Sewing by Annie's....I've been juggling Grandparent duties with catching up with my sewing after having a long weekend away on a lovely campsite near Abergele in North Wales.

I didn't take a lot of photos while we were away but you will probably get the gist that it was a lovely chilled weekend away in our caravan...and Milly loves the life as much as we do :-)

We went on several lovely walks...so much so that Milly put herself on her bed for a long sleep on Monday afternoon when we got home :-)

On Saturday Theo took part in the Schools Half Marathon...they run daily in school and then run the last mile all together with many other local schools.  He's very proud of his medal as you can see. :-)

Phoebe has been wearing train tracks to correct the alignment of her teeth and had them removed on Monday....what a great job they have done.

She's even more beautiful now :-)

You may have seen on Wednesday that I had done repairs on a very special teddy for one of my customers.

She sent this photo for me to share of just how pleased her little boy was with his bear...it always makes me smile to know how much my work is appreciated. :-)

We have enjoyed two days with Louie this week.  He's such a lovely boy to look after...it makes having to juggle my work all the more worth while.....and Grandad enjoys a nap while having a snuggle with Louie too :-)

The only other thing for me to do is to share a few funnies with you...they wouldn't fit together in a collage today so I've posted them separately this week.
I hope you find something to make you smile and will leave me a little comment before linking up to your own smiles below.  Have a great week.
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW...

Here we are at another weekly catch up of desks around the world with all they have to offer.  I love how much we share and how different each and every desk is...it's my favourite day of the week for sure.

Since last Wednesday we have been away on our first adventure of 2023 in our caravan.  We had a long weekend on a lovely campsite near Abergele in North Wales....and that included a visit to Abakhan at Mostyn  :-)  It was a mixed few days weatherwise but we managed some lovely walks with Milly.

I picked up a few new balls of wool at Abakhan and crocheted a few little hearts while away and also had several customers contact me needing sewing doing on my return to work...it's lovely to be in demand :-)

One of the customers sent me a photo of a very special bear who had had an accident and burnt his face on a log burner whilst hanging up to dry after a wash. Their little boy insists on having this bear to sleep with so, even though I am normally closed on a Tuesday, I said she could drop him off with me so I could repair him while I had no other customers.

We decided that a 'plaster' would be the best way to tackle the repair as it would be impossible to make it invisible and the result pleased both me and my customer.....and of course her little boy.

We have little Louie this morning and all day tomorrow so I sensibly cleared my sewing pile yesterday but I have many jobs coming in today that will be fittied in as and when I can.....Nanny duties always come first but Grandad will happily take charge while my customers drop off with me.

I hope you have a great week....I will call by to say hello ASAP.

Hugs,

Annie x

WOYWW...

I've not got a lot to show you this week cos we had a couple of nights away testing out our new caravan.  We went to the super site we went to last time in Llanidloes...it's not too far from home and was a good place to trial everything out...the result was that we are thrilled with our new purchase and planning many more trips now :-)

So I thought you'd like to see the results of my lastest teddy  refurbishment....

He enjoyed his wash and once dry I restuffed him and made him new feet and hands.  Then, when his new eyes arrived, I was then able to give him a new face and finished him off with his new new red ribbon.

I'm thrilled with his new appearance and so is my darling hubby :-)

The only other thing I have to show you today is this fat quarter pack that fell into my trolley at Aldis....I'm seeing a new Fidgety quilt in the making...just not any time soon cos I have about 6 customers coming today and each of them are bringing several jobs for me to do [and one of them is wanting 2 memory bears making].

This is what happens when you take a Monday off so I'm not complaining and there will be spare time at some point in the not too distance future for creative sewing.  If you leave me a little message I will do my best to pop over to yours ASAP...it just might not be today lol

Hugs,

Annie x

WOYWW....

Hello all and a happy Wednesday to each of you.  I love my Wednesday catch ups.  Please pop over to Julia's blog at The Stamping Ground where you will find details and be made very welcome if you wanted to join in the fun each week.

So what has been going on here at Sewing by Annie's this week?

Here's the latest little School Memory Owl I've made this week....and I have many orders now waiting for the school term to end so I can use the old school uniform.

I know many of you have seen my finished Fidgety Quilt on my Sewing by Annie Facebook page [because many of you have left me lovely comments and I thank you for those] but for those that haven't seen it there here it is.

Alzeimers is such an awful thing and I'm sure many are like me in feeling pretty helpless to do anything to make the situation easier so I'm hoping a little of Annie's love will go a little way to help.

After seeing what I managed to do with the last little teddy bear I had in my care my hubby gave me his old teddy to do something with....it's looking very old and tired and been kept in a box so anything would be better than nothing  :-)

I've ordered two new glass eyes, removed all the straw type stuffing and given him a gentle wash so far and already he's  looking better.  I will show you how I get on soon.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit and will leave me a little message so I know you've called by.  I will pay you a return visit as soon as I'm able.  Have a great week.

Hugs,

WOYWW...

What a week it's been since last Wednesday.  The work has been pouring it and this week it came with more challenges.  Many of you will have seen this in my Facebook page but for those that haven't meet Fred...

He is a much loved little teddy that had been in a fight with a labrador puppy and sadly he came off worse.  I was given instructions to keep as much as I could exactly how he was and not to wash/clean him.

I started by removing his head and rebuilding all I could.  I had to give him new eyes because one had been ripped out and the other was well chewed.  His muzzle was missing so I had to make him a new one and then embroider a nose to match his old one.....quite a challenge eh?

Here he is finished...and I have to say I was well chuffed with the results.....and so was his owner.

I love my job.  :-)

My to do rail hasn't been this full for months.

I've...

  • shortened 9 pair of trousers
  • shortened a lined skirt
  • rapaired a jacket and
  • sewn 6 badges on 2 parka coats.
No memory bears this week but I do have very many on their way to me in the up and coming weeks with it being the end of the school year and lots are wanting school bears making [but of course the children are still wearing their uniforms].

On my desk today is an ongoing project that I'm working on in my spare time [yes I do get a bit lol].  I'm making what I am calling a Fidgety Quilt.  It's for a family member with Altzeimers and I'm hoping it will give her something to fiddle with when she needs to....of course I am loving fiddling with it yet.

Hope you have had a fun week.  I will pop over to yours ASAP and hopefully be able to leave you a little message.
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW...

Another week has passed and we are creeping closer to our Crop10 celebrations. A lot have already put their names down to say they are coming [I think we are up to about 22 already :-)].  If you are planning on joining us and haven't already said how many of you are coming then can I ask that you please pop off to this post on Julia's blog at the Stamping Ground and check out the details....the more the merrier.  It should be a great party day of celebrations to celebrate 10 years of fun and friendship.

I've had a busy week so far here at Sewing by Annie's.  On my desk today is....

It's Easter holidays this week so Phoebe and Lulu have brought me their latest 11 badges earned between them for me to sew on so it's been more proud Nanny sewing for me....I love hearing what they had to do to earn each badge.

Monday morning saw this rather sad looking teddy bear arriving much in need of a restuff....at this point I had already restuffed his legs with the stuffing from his tummy but I had to delve into my stuffing supplies to find enough stuffing to refill him....where does all the original stuffing go to?

Here he is all restuffed and looking rather pleased with himself don't you think?  His 9 year old owner had already had one night crying herself to sleep without him so I had to work fast and get him ready to go back by Monday afternoon....I'm sure there will be one happy little girl now.

The only other thing sitting on my desk this morning is this pack of fat quarters....shopping in Aldi's this week and it just fell in my trolley.....there was actually several different packs so I was really restrained and only slipped one pack in my trolley!  These were the brightest and actually a little out of my comfort zone but I do like to challenge myself from time to time.

So there you go.  That's all from me for this week.  I have been busy making little gifts for all coming to the crop and have already made my draw prize but wont be sharing those with you.....can you tell I'm getting excited?  Really hope to see you all there.

Before I finish I would like to wish my darling hubby a very happy 37th Wedding Anniversary....and they said it wouldn't last ;-)  Thank you for the last 37 years and here's to our next adventure together as you retire in July....can't wait. xxxxx

Hugs,

WOYWW....

I have had a really industrious week.  I've made lots that I cant show you and I've used lots of snippets but can't link them on Di's blog cos they have to stay hidden....for a while at least  :-)

So what is on my desk this week?.....

Do you remember this from a couple of weeks back?
Well, I have now used that yummy fabric and bits and made 24 completed ATCs for the 4th Birthday swap that's coming up next month and I've also made cards for them to go inside....wont show you them yet but here they all are proudly standing up in my little box waiting to be posted.
If you haven't sent me your details yet but would like to swap with me then please email me your details so I can add you to my list....I'm happy to make more if needed  :-)

Teddy hospital has been open this week

I had these two, very sad, special friends arrive needing loving attention because they had been attacked by a dog and  come off worse.  Wolfie had lost two eyes and his nose and little teddy had lost an eye and needed restuffing.

Here they are, all lovingly repaired and waiting patiently for their owner to come and collect them.
As you can see I get all sorts of jobs to do here and get trusted with very special friends to put right....I guess being a nurse in my former life helps when it comes to giving anaesthetics and performing life saving surgery.  :-)

For all those who left such caring comments last week I must add a huge thank you and let you know that Sam has now bounced back to full health....and I'm sure all your get well wishes played a huge part so big hugs to each and every one of you.

Thanks for dropping by to see what I've been up to this week.  If you leave me a comment I will do my best to pay you a return visit but I not only had the twinnie munchkins yesterday but they have an extra day with me today so it will have to be either tonight or tomorrow when I get round to popping in to say hello.

Hugs,
Annie x
