WOYWW....

What a different sort of week it's been so far.  I had to work/sew on Saturday this week because I had an Army Major needing lots of work doing to update his uniforn ready for a move to Wiltshire.

 I had to

  • replace 6 buttons
  • remove 6 pips on his shoulders and replace them with two crowns
  • sew on 4 new badges, 3 of which were really stiff and hard to sew on so these had to be done using my artery forceps. Now is your cue to look away if you're squeamish.

I was pushing really hard to get the needle to go through the badges that when my needle suddenly slipped the back end of it ran into my finger where the x is and ended up in ?bone!!  I had to quickly pull in back out using the artery forceps...ouch!!

I felt the colour drain from my face lol.  As you can see in the bottom pic I ended up with a rather bruised finger....thankfully it's feeling much better now...

n.b. KEEP YOUR ARTERY FORCEPS CLOSE BY JAN....you never know when you might need them!

As for what is on my desk today here it is....

The animal print school bag needed a strap repairing ready for returning to school this week and the Christmas fabrics are out to make a batch of Christmas face masks plus I have to make a few more flowery ones as a special order for a customer.

It was of course a Bank Holiday here in England on Monday and Tuesday was my return to looking after Theo so that his mummy could go back to school plus of course we will be puppy sitting for Maisie too now so there will be no sewing for me on Tuesdays  from now on....unless Covid steps in and shuts us down again.

Hugs,

WOYWW....

Hello all my lovely blogging friends.  Here we are at yet another Wednesday show and tell day.  My post today comes with a health warning and a warning for the squeamish further down the page.

First I'd like to introduce you to my latest creation....

Meet my new design for a  Memory friend.  I have designed a little rabbit this time and have put him up for an Easter draw for my followers on my Facebook Page so if you'd like to be in with a chance to win him then please pop over and join in the fun.....good luck folks.

Confession time.....Jo and I had an afternoon together on Saturday while the men were at the football match and we popped into our favourite fabric shop in Shrewsbury [in fact it's the only one really!] and this gorgeous material just stuck to me like a magnet....it would have been rude not to pay for it before leaving the shop.

Here's my desk in all it's glory today....I'm busy making some ATCs for the up and coming 9th anniversary swap for WOYWW...but I've hidden them from view cos I'm a tease.
If anyone wants to swap with me then please send me your postal details to wipso2310@gmail.com
nb this could well be a new email address to you so take note.

Now for the health warning....please look away now if you're squeamish.

NEVER under any circumstances get your finger under the needle when you are using a sewing machine!!!

I have always been very proud of the fact that in all the years of sewing I have never caught my finger under my sewing machine....that is until last Friday!!!
What a funny experience that was!!....I felt really sick and nearly fainted and it's not something I plan to do again in a hurry.....I will add it looks far worse than it is and is  healing well now, if still a little tender, but it amazed me just how many things I do in a day uses that finger....ouch!!

There you go that's all from me for today.  If you leave me a little comment to let me know you've called in I will do my best to pay you a return visit as soon as I'm able.  Have a great week.
Hugs,

This week's smiles....week 26

Wahooooo week 26....that means we have had 6 whole months of sharing our happy posts and making others smile.....doesn't it feel good?

We had lots joining in last week so thank you so much to all of you for joining in the fun.  I am featuring the gorgeous photo Ros shared with us of her gum blossoms.....aren't they just something else?  Such a pretty colour.  She also shared a funny with us that really got me chuckling so thank you Ros for making my day.

This week I am sharing a couple of collages that made me smile.
Our little granddaughter Lulu had a falling out with a fire door on Thursday night and was rushed to hospital having very nearly taken the end off the middle finger on her left hand.  She had xrays and her finger was dressed while she was there and then sent home for the night.  She then had to then go back first thing on the Friday morning to have an operation to stitch it back on....ouch.  She was such a brave little girl and we are all so very proud of her.

She has to keep her dressings clean and dry for 10 days [hense the plastic bags :-) ] and go back next Tuesday to see how it's all healing.......have you ever tried to keep a 3 year old clean?
We are keeping everything crossed here that everything heals well with no problems.

The other collage is of some twinnie fun in the sun....wahoooo summer is here  :-)

You should be able to click on either collage if you want to read the captions or have a closer look.

We have such a lot here to be thankful for and so much in our lives that makes us smile.  Why not snap away with your camera and join in the fun this week by sharing your happy moments?

Hugs,

Latest updates at sewing by Annie's...

When the plasters were taken off the true damage could be seen on my poor hubby's fingers.  Ouch!  Both finger ends have now gone very bruised and swollen.  I think he was very lucky to have had his protective gloves on at the time.

My sewing room floor was like this on Saturday morning.  The carpet was old, worn and dark maroon and made my room look shabby.

The carpet in our living room, up the stairs and the landing was a dark kingfisher blue.

All the old carpets have now been stripped out and new underlay was put down in my sewing room....Yes girls, I really can say I am on cloud nine now when I'm in my sewing room  :-)

Here is the first sight of my new carpets  :-)  My sewing room looks so much bigger now with the lighter carpet.  I love it.  My job for today is to put all my storage boxes and cupboards back and ready for work tomorrow  :-)  I'm so excited.

For those that enjoy the posh frocks here is a quick update of what we were doing yesterday morning.  We had an appointment at a Wedding dress shop in Wellington and spent over an hour trying on yet more gorgeous dresses  :-)  Lots more ooing and awing but don't think we have still found THE one.  :-) [any excuse for another shopping trip!].

Ouch.....

My darling hubby has just been home for his lunch break and had this to show me :-#
He had trapped these two fingers between a stacker truck and a large freezer door. and could only get them out because he was wearing gloves and managed to pull his hand out of the glove!  His index finger nail is black and the skin is broken on his second finger.  Ouch ouch ouch.

All I can say is.....I'm so glad he has now finished the painting and decorating  :-)
Only joking of course  :-)
