WOYWW....

Happy 15th Anniversary to you all.  I made a box full of ATCs for the crop but thought Is should make this one special ATC to celebrate our 15 years together so this will be going to the one after my name on the list.  What special friendships we all have made thanks to Julia's wonderful idea all those years back....and I thank you with all my heart Julia for the effort you put in each and every week my friend.  I can't wait for the crop on Saturday.

I was poorly last week so wasn't up to joining in the Wednesday fun but am thankfully much better now and wouldn't miss this week of celebrations for the world.  I have had a busy week with sewing this week.....

  • I've shortened two long dresses
  • Shortened several pair of trousers/jeans
  • Shortened a dress etc etc

My desk today has all the things I've been getting ready for Saturday's crop....

I've filled two little fabric boxes with Celebrations ready for the raffle on Saturday....they are now wrapped in cellophane and tied with a ribbon :-)

I've made a badge to wear so everyone knows who I am....not that I think anyone will be in doubt :-)
Julia asked us to make/wear one and who would argue with the boss? :-)

I've hunted out some random patchwork that I am embroidering on to bring with me to do while I'm there ....I can't imagine I will get much done but I do like to look willing :-)
[too much talking, laughing, drinking coffee and eating cake]

That just leaves me to say Happy 15th Anniversary to you all and I hope to see at least some of you in Stoke on Saturday.  Thanks for all the love, care and friendship over the years and here's to the next 15 :-) :-)
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW....

Hello all.  Here we are at our Wednesday catch up with a lot of creative desks from all round the world.

First I will share my desk for this week...

I've been busy making a new batch of my tooth fairy pillows....here they are in the making......

....and here they are all completed.  They are proving very popular and the new design is a special request....the Hulk!

Then as promised here is what I was working on last week....

I've been making the apple shapes into mug rugs suitable for teacher's gifts.  I'm not sure you can read the poem I wrote to go with it at the top but it's enough said that I had a couple of sleepless nights with poetry buzzing round my head to write it. 😄😄😄

The other show and tell for those interested it what was in the foil box on the shelf last week.  It was found in a box when we emptied a few more and they are all things I made many years ago but are still waiting for mounts and frames! ......

Two embroideries needing circular mounts....yes those really are lots of french knots in the pic on the left to make the paving slabs!

One of the many cross stitch pics I designed of our old house.

A cross stitch pic of one of my fav poems.....from back in 1996!!!

Two little characters I cross stitched that are still waiting framing....they are from the Usborne books stories about Apple Tree farm.

There you go.  Maybe I should get them framed eh?

Thanks for calling by this week. If you leave me a little message to let me know you've called by and I will do my best to pay you a return visit.  I must apologise for those I didn't leave comments on last week. Google+ blogs won't let me comment and several others weren't playing nicely for me.

WOYWW....

Hello all.  Here we are at another Wednesday catch up with our crafty blogging friends from all round the world....if you want to know more then please pop over to Julia's where our leader will share details.  I love my Wednesday's.

There has been lots going on here at Sewing by Annie's but I have no sewing on my desk today....yet.

It's not a great photo because I framed it before taking the pic and the glass reflects too much to share the details with you but I have now finished my latest dumfing pic and it's now proudly hanging in our new hall opposite the roller blind that I took the inspiration for it from.....I'm chuffed.

We have been emptying more boxes now we have room to put the contents [a lot has been boxed for 3+ years so has come out like long lost friends].  I have filled one wall in my sewing room with home made treasures.... everything from wood carvings my dad did when he retired and embroidery I've done to lots of little cross stitch works of art my three did when they were little....I love each and every one.

I'm also sharing this with you.....it's one of my new business cards with my newly extended hours on....many customers were wanting to come out of hours so I have changed my hours to suit....exciting times eh?  I have printed off and laminated lots of new business cards and posters to put in public places to let folk know.....that's taken most of my creative time up this week  :-)

So there you go.....sorry it's not more creative but these things have to be done.  :-)  Let me know you've called in and I will pop over to yours as soon as I can to see what's been keeping you busy this week.
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW....updated to show you Bertie

What has happened this week?  I've had a 5 day weekend because not only was it Easter weekend but the twins are on a 2 week Easter holiday so I didn't have them yesterday and I don't open up the shop on a Tuesday.

So?  Why oh why am I chasing my tail and finding myself writing this post now?  I am usually so organised and have this ready on Tuesday.....and look after two 18 month old twins at the same time [that's what nap times are for aren't they?] !!!  Oh well  I guess it's just part of my 'I don't even know what day it is' life at the mo.  :-)  We took two more loads of stash to the charity shop and load number 12 to the tip at the weekend so it's not surprising my world is crumbling around me is it hehehe.

So on my desk now this very minute is.....

The quilt I was working on yesterday.  This one is definitely one for a baby.  The panel of fabric in the middle has teddies on so I have appliqued more teddies etc on each end to go with it.  I have kept back one of the little pictures to go on the front of the bag to match.  This is my LillyBo quilt number 7.

For those wondering where the little teddies were flying off to last week I can now tell you that they have arrived safely with Jo[zart].  They are already working hard to raise money for Chics, the Children's cancer support group.  Big sister Jo wrote a LillyBo bear poem to go with each little bear and each little bear will work their little bit of magic to bring comfort to all that buy one.....after all they were all made with love and a little sprinkle of magic was added to their stuffing.  :-)

I have also been working on my fabric book that I started back in February.  Please click here is you'd like to see where the inspiration came from.  I am really enjoying watching this develop and deciding what to do next as I go along.

We don't do things by halves here in Shropshire!!!
I know it's not actually on my work desk but Bertie buzzard has just flown down onto next door's front lawn to feed and I just had to  run out with my camera to snap it for you.....Isn't he stunning?  He was really huge with probably a 4 foot wingspan when he flew off.......amazing to be so close to nature.

Well folks, that's all from me for today....better late than never as they say.  :-)
I hope you have enjoyed the little peep into my world for this week.  If you'd like to leave a little hello comment I will do my best to pay you a return visit asap.
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW and a few hidden treasures...

Hello to all my blogging friends.  Here we are on another Wednesday exposing our spaces to the world.  This week my craft room has been revealing a few hidden treasures that are now spread out on the ironing board so I can share them with you.

I have a guilty secret and I feel I now know you all well enough to be honest and own up......

My name is Annie and I was, in a former life, a x stitcher and embroiderer....Oh there you go now I have said it!!

There are other secrets that I may share with you at another time depending on how you react to this one  :-)
I have been having a good sort out and have found some of my hidden treasures....Can anyone tell me why they were never framed?....answers on a postcard please  :-)

I just know some of you will want a closer look so I have collaged them so you can enlarge for a good snoop browse at your leisure.

There are hours of work here and they were all rolled up together and hidden in a cooking foil box!
The one in the top left with the paving slabs on has literally 1000s of french knots making up the details....did I really have that much spare time on my hands ?  You can see one of them is dated 1996 and I would have had a 12 yr old daughter , an 11 year old daughter and a 9 year old son back then so were there more hours in my days?  How did I do it? and why oh why were they never framed up?.....and this really is just the tip of the iceberg folks  :-)

I have also found this shoe box crammed full of little cross stitch kits, some of which came on the front of magazines.....and yes folks I probably still have all the magazines too!!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do with them all.....I wont be doing the x stitching now and they should go to good homes don't you think?

There you go.  I feel so much better now I've confessed.

My latest LillyBo quilt and bag are also finished but I am still knitting a little friend to go in the pocket so pop back later in the week if you'd like to see it all.  I will do my best to pop to see as many blogs as I can in between my sewing jobs later but would like to say thank you to all who call by here to leave such lovely comments.

Don't forget to link up your happy posts here to share with others and make the world a happier place to live.

WOYWW...

Hello all.  Happy Wednesday to you.  Slowly but surely I am, thankfully, feeling rather better each day and life here at Sewing by Annie's remains as hectic as ever.

Monday was spent having fun with that 'much older sister' of mine, Jo.  We spent the day dumfing [check side bar for link if you still don't know what this is], doing machine and hand embroidery, sewing on beads, drinking coffee, eating yet more chocolate and generally having fun and these are the results I have to share with you.....

These are the four little dumfed pictures of my crab apple blossom that I have now finished.  They are big enough to be framed or mounted up in some way and Jo and I plan to open up a new shelf in the blog shop soon to house these to sell so if you are interested then keep a look out.  I'm sure you will find Jo's works of art over on her blog today too.

These are the latest ATCs I've received this week.

20. Julia
21. Helen

Thanks girls, they are so special.

Now I know some of you like to see a little of what's going on out in our garden so this collage is just for you....just wish it was smelly vision cos the roses are a real old fashioned variety and they smell divine.  I often notice my customers having a sniff at them as they walk past.

On that note I will love you and leave you cos I have lots of catching up to do on my 'to do' rail after having had a fun day with the munchkins yesterday.....and they certainly keep me on my toes now they are both reaching new heights and well on the move.....see prev post for the proof  :-)

Have a great week.
Hugs,
Annie x
