WOYWW.....

Hello to you all on this Wednesday fun day.  We had a lovely Easter weekend....hope you did too.

So? what have I got to share with you today?

My temporary 'to do' rail has had some sewing going on this week...
  • A much loved gent's coat  on the left edge on the pic needing lots of patching and darning.
  • My first bridesmaid's dress for this year....I love the colour :-)

What's this in my knitting basket?....it's not a stress busting house moving knitted square [though there have been a few completed this week!  :-) ].
It's the body for a little doll for Margaret over at Glitter and Glue.  She put a call out for knitters to help raise funds for her charity by knitting little dolls.....If you can knit and are willing to make her a little doll then please click on her link and check out the details......a free doll pattern is waiting for you there [and it's pretty easy knitting ].

The other pic I'm sharing with you today is one I took of the gorse bushes up over the top of the Stiperstones whilst enjoying a day out with my darling hubby on Easter Monday.....isn't it gorgeous?  Such a gorgeous bright yellow and it's everywhere you look.

We went to Brockhampton Estate in Herefordshire....a lovely National Trust property with beautiful grounds and a Medieval house to enjoy.  They also had Medieval music and dancing there while we were there.....you could have also joined in with the dancing too if you wanted to :-)

I found this on Pinterest over the weekend.....I'm working on positive thinking to lift the failed house moving gloom....and it's really working :-)  It's going to be a good week.

Thanks for calling by today.  If you leave me a little hello message to let me know you've called I will pop by to see what you've been up to this week when I get a minute.
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW......

Here we are....the last WOYWW before the man in the red coat arrives.  The running around doing all the last minute things will be coming to an end very soon and I hope we can all enjoy the festivities with our feet up at least some of the time.  I shall be shutting up 'Sewing by Annie' tonight and have no plans to open up again until Tues 3rd Jan so am planning at least a little 'me' time  :-)

I am able to show you a few of the things I have been up to over the last few weeks because they were opened during our family celebrations last Sunday [you can see a few pics in the post under this one].

Here you can see the two knitted dollies that I made for Phoebe and Louise.  I really wish I could have captured their faces the moment they opened them.....Lulu just said the biggest WOW  :-) [she's only 20 months old so says it just as she sees it.....what more could a Nanny wish for Christmas? ].

I made these for their Daddy for a bit of fun....he tells them Goldilocks and the three bears as one of their bedtime stories so just knew these would add to their fun.
On the label I had written....A little something for bedtime.  Amy says you're bigger than most so I hope I've got the size right......I can't imagine why you're all giggling.... he does have rather large hands so I knitted them in double knitting instead of the 4 ply!

My 'to do' rail is empty and I can't show you what I'm making at the mo because, as you can imagine, I am still busy making the last of the presents and they wont be opened til Christmas day  :-)

I would just like to say a huge Happy Christmas to you all and hope 2012 brings you all everything you wish for yourselves.  Stay well and happy and I will hopefully 'see' you all next week.
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW....

I'm a bit like a duck on water this week...I remain calm on the surface in front of my customers but underneath the surface my feet are paddling like mad  :-)  I'm sure I'm not alone.

Yesterday one of my customers had to make 2 journeys to her car to bring in all she had been begging from her friends.  She has previously already brought Jo and I several piles of bedding for our 'dress the girl around the world' dresses that we have been making and yesterday's pile way outweighed anything she had brought before.  As you can see my ironing board was loaded up with some really pretty sheets, quilt covers and pillowcases.  We have had to put the little dress making on hold to find time for all our Christmas activities but we do promise to get back to it after Christmas so this will all be put to good use.

Also this week this gorgeous little gift came through my door from the ever lovely Jo[zart].  As you can see she has made me [and Jo] lovely pin cushions that attach to our sewing machines...they also have a place for my snippers to sit in....this just might stop me loosing them  :-)  Thanks Jo.

In between my many sewing jobs I am also knitting like mad for the special little people in my life.  This is the second of these I'm knitting....the other has sneaked into the corner of the photo above.  These have to be finished by Sunday because this is our family day to all be together for Christmas so I'd best keep knitting ...and quick!

As you can see I still have a Mr Tumble doll looking for a home.  He is sitting here watching me type but would really love to find a new home for Christmas so if any of you know of a little boy or girl who would love him then please get in touch...he was made as an order but the lady let me down at the last minute so he is still for sale if anyone would like to buy him and I can post him straight away so he would arrive in good time for Christmas. :-)

Well folks that's it from me this week....I have a 'to do' rail to clear and rather a lot of knitting to finish so I must keep moving.  Please leave me a little 'hello' message before you pop over to Julia's blog to join in the WOYWW fun.
Also if you would like to give me your vote for my favourite dumfed poppy pic [and I know a lot of you loved it too] that I have entered into a Christmas party draw please follow this link and click on vote under my pic. [many thanks to all who vote for me x]

Hope you all have a great week and manage to get all your Christmas crafting done in good time.Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW...

Good morning blogging friends.
Another week has passed and we are back to the best day of the week when we all have a good snoop round lots of crafting spaces.  If you are here by chance and don't know what I mean then please pop over to Julia's blog and join in the fun.

As you can see from this week's posts it has been yet another busy week for me.  The weeks leading up to Saturday's Craft Fair have been spent making and putting everything ready and into boxes.   Saturday morning came with lots of snow on the ground but we still made the effort and made our way up to Montgomery.  I'm certain the weather kept many from venturing out but we still had a fun time so all the effort was well worth it.

Funday Monday for Twiglet and I was spent taking pictures and filling the shelves on the blog shop with all the latest goodies so spare a little time to pop over and check out all the Christmas gift ideas.  If this snow hangs around a while it may be one way of shopping without venturing out into it and you will be sure to buy something that noone else has bought cos most of the items we make are one offs.

Today  I have lots of new things I want to have a go at and as long as not too many of my customers are sufficiently in need of their sewing being done urgently then I will manage a little 'me' time to play.  I have one job to do before I start though and I guess this is a sign of the weather.

It's a waterproof warm waistcoat that needs a new zip.  Not one of my fav jobs cos they are rarely easy to get right first time.

Yesterday I received two gorgeous new patterns from a fab American site called Oh Sew Dollin.  If you are a dolly maker the site is well worth a visit.  When time allows I will be making some of these....pretty excited at the thought.

I thought I would also show you my latest creation.  I have just finished putting him together and think he's rather cute.

Right, girls, it's time for me to get going.  Thanks for dropping in and for leaving your lovely comments.  I will do my best to get round as many of you as I can over the next few days.  Hope you all stay warm and cosy til next week and have lots of fun times.

Meet my latest creation.....

She's finished now and before I give her away I thought I snap her and share her with you all.  She is for another of my special little friends.  A bit of wool and a couple of evenings can cause a lot of smiles  :-)

WOYWW....

Good morning to all my fellow WOYWWers.  Brrrrrrr it's a bit chilly here this morning.

It's been another busy week for me....do I have any other?  :-)

Everything from ......
  • Tea out and a theatre visit to see 'The Essence of Ireland' in Shrewsbury....A fab night was had [just wish I could manage all those high kicks] :-)  thanks Jo.
  • A 2nd birthday tea out for my gorgeous little Granddaughter P...A wonderful night was had by all....how quickly time flies.
  • Visiting our dear friend B in her care home....still very confused but a little more settled and not so agitated this week
  • A fun day Monday without Twiglet ....Had another friend here to 'play' but of course big sis was missed by all.
.......to more painting and decorating [stairs and landing walls this time] and getting ready for new carpets this next weekend [hopefully!  cos at the mo the 3 rolls of carpets are full length of our sitting room!].

So? What's on my desk today I hear you ask  :-)

I have mounted my brooches on cards ready for the craft fair and made a couple of new ones [on the left in the pic] during our fun day Monday afternoon.

On my table today is.....
  • the, now finished, lap blanket....I just love the colours.
  • another knitted dolly on the go and
  • my wooden chopping board that I do my melting and burning on.
...Oh and my Nutrogena....my hands are like coarse grade sandpaper at the mo  :-(

I am also making Christmas card toppers with some pretty Christmas fabric.  I'm wadding each little panel and using machine embroidery to decorate them.

And?  What am I doing today?

I'm having another play time with my little Granddaughters while my daughter goes for a pre-op check for a minor op she needs next week.  Fingers crossed all goes well.

Thanks for dropping in on my blog and for all the lovely comments you leave me.  Please pop over to Julia's blog next to join in the fun and check out all the other crafty desks.

Brooches and a doll in a day....

I have now finished the brooches I made using man made fabrics that melt and thought you might like to see a few snaps .....

I will be mounting them onto cards and will probable take them to the up and coming craft fair but if anyone would like to buy one they will be just £4.50 each so please feel free to email me. [I can't get the photos to go where I want them sorry...think blogger has a mind of it's own today!]

As many of you will know it was our little Granddaughter P's 2nd birthday yesterday and I wanted something to give to her 7 month old little sister so she didn't feel left out while her big sister was opening her presents so at about 10 o clock yesterday morning I started knitting [it's what you do when you're a Grandma  :-) ].  This was the result and little L thought it was lovely so I thought I would show you just what's possible if you put your mind to it  :-)  I finished her in about 5 hours.  She is about 7" high and really huggable  :-)
