Hello fellow WOYWWers.  It was a pretty manic week for me this last week catching up with all my customers sewing jobs but thankfully I'd cleared the decks by Friday and I was ably to chill out and enjoy the Olympics over the weekend....in between napping! [guess it was my body's way of telling me I'd done too much!]

This week has found me looking to be creative...the first time in ages really!  On my desk this week is some hand dumfing for you to see  :-)  Jo and I saw a wonderful article a while back in her Molly makes magazine written by one of our blogging friends Gretel Parker of Middle of Nowhere blog and of course I just had to have a go.

I chose to use some of the fab wool rovings I'd bought from Sara at Crafts of Texture .  It's a mixed colour rovings and I thought it would add extra character to my little creation.

"Can you tell what it is yet?"  :-)

Here is a basic shape....it reminds me of an early scan of a baby here  :-)

Hmmm yes it has ears.  :-)

Introducing my version of a little doglet.  I hope Gretel approves  :-)  I had so much fun making him so I must say a huge thank you to Gretel for the inspiration as it's been a looooong time since I hand felted anything and I have caught the bug again now.....thinking of a name for him/her now!
How about  Ruby or Rusty or Plum or even Beetroot?  :-)
Ideas on a postcard please  :-)

Now who might this be?  I told you I'd caught the bug didn't I?
My little doglet just needed a little friend didn't he and what a cute little kitty she is too.

Meet Candy the kitty.

Also made with gorgeous mixed coloured rovings bought from Sara.
The other things I wanted to share with you this week are these gorgeous 'fish and chip' jumpers and beanie hats made by one of my customers.  She was needing a bit of occupational therapy whilst poorly.... I just passed on the pattern and some of my odd balls of wool and what a brilliant job she has done with it.
I would like to add that the deadline for getting these jumpers in by is coming up so make sure you get any finished jumpers over to Dawn as soon as possible. Do check out her blog for more details.

Thanks for calling by today.  If you leave me a little hello comment I will do my best to do a return visit.
Have a great week.
Annie x

Very cute felted dog and kitty. You are a crafty genius. It has taken me close to 24 hours to schedule a post (can never work out OZ time vs UK time) and get back to link up!! I should just stick to craft.

Hi Annie,

Your little critters are adorable. My first guess was a squirrel (at the ear photo).

Hmm, I see a glimpse of some wonderful garden photos below -- must go have a snoop.

Hi Annie, I love your wee dumfing dog and kitten duo - they are adorable, as are the fish and chip jumper/beanie sets.

I've only just managed to get caught up on the wedding pics and they are lovely ... so nice to see your beautiful daughter looking so well and happy after what she went through after the birth of the twins. And didn't they look adorable too.

I think that after all the excitement of the wedding it's not surprising that you are tired out, most of us would be. Take care, happy WOYWW and I hope you have an enjoyable week. Elizabeth x #18

Glad to hear that you’re getting back to thing now that wedding is behind you and really love your felted friends. Candy Kitty is so sweet but for me the little doglet has the edge. He’s so cute and the colours look amazing…..you just ‘have’ to call him Beetroot, it’s perfect for him.

Thanks for stopping by this week.
Happy Sewing!

I am not very good at returning comments but I do try my best - love Rusty ( I thought it would be a good "boy" name and Candy is just so sweet! I have no idea how this hand felting goes but I love the outcome - always lovely stuff! Good for you having all that napping - sometimes our bodies just say " get that nap in or...."
Love and hugs,

When I first saw the wool I thought 'Heather' so that's what I'd call your cute little dog.
Last week my group of friends out here helped me to send 203 jumper and beanie hats to Dawn for the September dispatch. They want to keep knitting, and after hours (days and weeks in fact), of trawling the net, I have found a new outlet for them. It is a charity based in Market Drayton. Small world isn't it?!
Thanks for visiting my blog. Tell your sister to be sure to sign up for the candy. Kate #25

Well, if Doglet only had one eye I would suggest Dobby! He is gorgeous!
I was thinking of you when I was in Hay on Wye as there were bits of Welsh wool for dumfing. Hubby breathed a sigh of relief when I put it back as he was afraid I would start yet another "thing"!!
This blogging lark is great fun. Had I realised Jan was going to show my photo to the world, I would have painted my toes! LOL!

Off to Jozart to see what's been going on

Hi Annie,
Very cute doglet and kitten - have to agree that the early stages look a bit ultrasound-ish. They must be so soft and squeezy.
As for the little jumper sets, I have to say that the admiring of them is easy but the making of them would be anti-therapeutic for me. All OTs out there take note for when I'm in my dotage.
Take care, and keep up the power naps. I love them, feel dangerously good after 20 minutes.

Sue from Oregon said...

Oh you are so so creative! Wondering why those little sweater sets are call 'fish and chip' jumpers???

Happy WOYWW!
