Happy Wednesday especially to our Queen of snoop, Julia over at the Stamping Ground who has been seen wearing her tiara this week and really looking the part.
My desk has seen lots of action this week and it's been very varied. Everything from a gorgeous Wedding dress to a Dr Who's scarf .....
The wedding dress filled my cutting table and I am in the process of shortening three hems on it....I always hoover and clean all the surfaces before starting a wedding dress so as not to leave and marks on it so it's half a days work just the get ready before I start [I make a lot of dust here in my sewing room].
The scarf really was something else. It was knitted by a young man who died aged just 31 and his sister brought it to me to be divided into three so that she and her two other brothers could have a scarf each made from it.
The original stretched at least twice the length of my sewing room and between us we managed to fold it into three which when finished were each more than long enough to make a really long scarf.
I really do get asked to do all sorts and it was so lovely to be able to do just what she wanted successfully.
So there you go nice and short just how the boss likes it [ for once!]. I have my darling hubby here all this week transforming the back garden so I'd best get back to the sewing before he catches me slacking hehehe. Have a great week. I will do my best to visit all who call in here in between my many and varied sewing jobs of the week.
For anyone interested I have a Giveaway over on my Sewing by Annie Facebook so why not pop over and be in with a chance to win one of my Memory bears. I will making the draw at 9pm Friday night......Good Luck x

Would have to lock my cats up if I tackled something like that wedding dress! Love the idea of Dr Who scarf remember them being all the rage when I was younger, but never liked Dr Who though. Don't work too hard. Anickoana #12

Agree about saving the photo for the bride! Looked out school uniform to see if you could make me a bear but the moths had beaten me to it. Now in rag recycler at the tip! Daughter (42) wasn't interested but I had hoped to get one just for me. Happy sewing. Catriona
Oh my the story of the scarf is so touching and it's so beautiful that you could help and adhere to the sister with her wishes regarding it.

What a beautiful header...those pink flowers are gorgeous. You are a lady of many successful challenges. That scarf has beautiful color and will be a special treasure for them. Good Job. Enjoy your week.
Aw, nice idea with the scarf...it must be lovely to do such things. Three hems on a single dress. I'd have been tempted to smack her!! You have the patience of a saint!xxxx
Your scarf story is really quite poignant and very dear. It is very conscientious of you to keep your work area spotless for wedding gown projects. I'd never heard of anybody doing that before, but I suppose some would.
Happy WOYWW!

Oh to have the confidence to tackle wedding dress alterations! I'd never thought about hoovering before sewing but it does make sense. And what a lovely thing to have done, altering the scarf with its many memories.

Happy WOYWW TFS xx Jan (34)
Hi Annie, from altering a wedding dress to cutting up a Dr Who scarf - the things it you get asked to do are so varied. I was so touched reading the story of the scarf - I'm sure each sibling will treasure their new scarf as a constant reminder of the work their brother put into the original. Hope the weather stays good to let your DH finish whatever it is he is doing to transform your garden. I'm struggling to keep on top of the weeds at the moment. Hugs, Ellie x #33
Oh Annie, how sad to hear of a young man dying so early in life. But what a lovely thing you did for his siblings - now they can feel his warmth around them when they wear the scarf.
So glad you had the wedding dress to alter as that would make you feel it was for a happier occasion.
Take care and enjoy your week with Doddie and Millie.
Hugs and thanks for visiting me, Neet 3
