WOYWW...

Hi fellow WOYWWers.  If you want to join in the WOYWW madness fun then pop over to Julia's blog for details, link yourself on Mr Linky with a photo of your crafting space  to share with the rest of the world.

This week has been another eventful week for me....

My weekend was spent visiting care homes for my elderly neighbour and what vast extremes there are when it comes to what is available.  One I could have booked myself a bed in and another I wouldn't have booked my dog in and yet both have been assessed as excellent.

Fun Day Monday was just that......fun fun fun.  Twiglet came down as usual and then at around 10.30 our fun started....my 2 gorgeous little Granddaughters arrived for a few hours while their Mummy was helping her hubby in their new business unit for their banner printing business.  We had 4 1/2 very special quality hours amusing the girls.  They were as good as gold and I feel so very blessed to have them in my life.

Tuesday was spent catching up on ironing and all the other little jobs that were put aside for better things on Monday. Oh and the odd customer or ten needing sewing and two or three friends calling in for coffee and a chat.  All in a normal day for me  :-)

Today being Wednesday I am exposing my space to fellow bloggers.  My space has plans for changes.

We are planning to put a doorway in here where this fitted cupboard is so we can get through direct from my sewing room into our living room.  It will mean losing this storage and the one end of my work surface in front of my window will have to move.  I have to think carefully so that all changes are the right ones therefore more planning than doing is needed at this stage but last night we fetched a new door frame in readiness :-)  It's very exciting and I hope to keep my blog updated with the changes as they happen.

This is a quick snap of my table full of my crocheted brooches, now all packaged and labelled.  They have all been uploaded in the shop on the gifts shelf for anyone interested in buying one.

That's all I have to show today so now pop over to Julia's blog to see what's going on in other crafting spaces all over the world.  Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to leave a comment.  I really do hope you all have a great week.  See you next Wednesday.

Sounds like a fun and busy week. I'm not surprised by your description of the care facilities. It's the same in the US, all with good ratings.

You have been busy with those brooches. You might just be outfitting an entire town soon (grin).

Yes, you have to weigh the advantages of adding a door versus losing all that usable space. Keep us updated, please.

I envy the fun you had with your grandees. Mine are far away. Don't envy you trailing round care homes, it' a hard task. Your local Sure Start place or DHSS should provide a booklet on choosing one which will be really helpful.
Happy WOYWW!

It would be a shame to loose that bit of your desk in front of the window - I love that bit, but if you need the change I guess you will have to put up with it! Lovely chrocheted broches!

It's like those undercover programs that go into these supposedly brilliant care homes. Awful watching, just terrible and yet there are some that are wonderful - how they can be put in the same bracket is criminal. Lucky your neighbour has you helping her.

Exciting goings on with your craft room. I'll be watching with interest.

As to my spare 4" I've been swinging round and using the dinner table, the chair, the kitchen counters and our back yard... much to OH's dismay. If his face drops any further I'll have to start calling him Droopy instead of Monica! :P

Having that door there will be so useful for you, even though you will have to jiggle things round!

I am not surprised about the carehomes. Goodness knows how they judge them!!! It can be a minefield trying to find one which suits but I know you will find the right place for your friend X

Oh and I have made the skirt up now so all the bogies have gone!!! Thank you for your lovely words on that...really appreciated XXX

It's all change at your house then! Don't forget, you could probably still put a cupboard above the door you're putting in!

Morning, well you have certainly been busy, hope you get the care home sorted out its a shame they are not all lovely, the ones I've visited have been fortunately all nice and organised and the people who lived there loved them. Lovely brooches you are a clever lady. Well I do hope your decision over the door works well and you will be happy with it.

I would hate to lose the storage but hopefully you will be able to re-organise it all somehow?

Oh that is a big planned change. Mr D is a Joiner by trade - he recommends the measure twice cut once approach - but you have that ingrained in you as a seamstress! My workroom is through a door from the lounge and it's lovely - I can weatch TV with my ears and chat to my lovelies..and play. Perfect for me.

Sorry I'm late, blogger would not play yesterday!
I work for a company that fits out care homes, and the quality is so variable it's scary! Some homes want to buy the cheapest trash they can get away with (which we refuse to supply so they go elsewhere) and others don't mind what they spend as long as it looks good, then there are the ones in between. Often though, there are homes with a tight budget who may not have the most glamorous look but they do care about the residents and have wonderful staff. Some homes spend money on high priced furniture that may look nice but isn't really practical, and they can then charge a high room rate but cut back on staff to make maximum profit. Choosing a care home is a minefield, really, and the best way is to speak to relatives of residents in each home to get their views. Sorry, lecture over!

It must be so lovely to have grand-daughters. I love my boys to bits and wouldn't change them for the world, but do love the idea of being able to play with and spoil granddaughters of my own one day - and buy or make them pretty dresses!
I hope all your alterations go well and you find a good way forward with everything so that your valuable storage space isn't lost completely! xx

hmmm that will be interesting to see this project. I can't quite visualise where it will come out in your lounge. What exactly do you want to do that for? Is it to avoid having to go through the kitchen?

Anyway, it will be interesting to see the project in progress or a before and after pic at least. Hope your sewing doesn't get too disrupted in the process.

Big hugs
