WOYWW.....

Hello all.  It's been a hive of industry here this week.
I've been sorting out some of my fabrics....

I have lots of fabric stored away in large boxes that are too heavy to be lifting out each time I want to find something so I am sorting....and even throwing out bits I don't feel will ever get used!!!

I made a cardboard template to fit in my Ikea Expedit boxes and I'm folding my fabrics to fit.....time consuming but I'm sure being able to see it all will help

I'm staking it all in the boxes on their sides like this and when full will then be able to tip it over....

.....like this.  I have decided it is best to fold it all first then I can lift it all out and sort it into colours, uses, fabrics etc......I'm rather indecisive as to how it will be sorted yet but at the mo I'm just folding it all to fit in my new boxes [and there is rather a lot of fabric to sort yet :-) ].

And just when you think you're doing well an elderly lady that lives around the corner rings you up to say she is moving into a care home and do you want a bag of fabric!!!   Of course I couldn't say no could I?

Well that's it from me for today.  Thanks for calling by.  Leave me a little hello message to let me know you've called in and I will pop over to visit you as soon as I can.  Have a great week.
Hugs,
Annie x

Yup! Know just how you feel - the storage idea is coming along fine - then something happens to disarrange things... Lovely looking boxes, Annie, they are going to be so colourful when finished. Well done.
Take care. God bless.

Hi Annie! I sort all my fabric by color. I have large drawers of it, and those that don't fit are in bags and bags! Just today, my sisters and I were laughing and laughing about what's going to happen when we are old and we have not used our fabric and cardboard and bits and pcs of "I'm going to use this someday"s !!!! Have fun! patsy

Sounds like Patsy has the same conversations with her sisters as we do! x Jo

Sounds like a big task but you'll feel so good once it's all done.
I sorted my office out last week as all my craft stuff had crawled in there and was all over the floor.
Office is fab now but the back bedroom is a nightmare haha

....and that's why you have a lot of fabric! I think if it were on show, I'd have to sort by colour, although for a professional like yourself, that's probably not practical! Love that you made a folding template, practical and pretty - once packed out, you aren't going to want to spoil the look of those cubes by actually using any fabrics!

Show great progress. I think getting things organized is always a work in progress. As our crafting changing so does how we store our stuff. The way you have the fabric folded is a great way to see everything you have.

BIG !!! I do like folding and stacking fabric..I NEED to see what I have, I hate things boxed away. And a chuckle, get your self organized ..then I cleaned out Mother's ...most of her fab is here with me. I've no daughters so mine will be up for auction or disposed of !! You will enjoy the fruits of your labor. Enjoy WOYWW and have a great week.

I'm pretty much reduced to just keeping it sort of neat. Organizing just goes out the window as I start pulling out to clear away. I seem to get side tracked and suddenly my time is gone and the mess remains. You are so organized and I love seeing all that pretty material!

Hi Annie, you're just trying to make me feel guilty Lol! I can always find an excuse for not sorting and tidying stuff but I do love it when it is tidy as it's much easier to find what you're looking for. Thanks for the visit to mine and have a great woyww, Angela x 27

Love all the fabric. Of course you couldn't say no, that would be rude. #35

I'm in the process of doing something similar with the very same turquoise boxes for my fabric. Once I've filled them all I'll go back to get the shelf unit to put them in. Happy organising.

Please note: I will not be sending you any of mine!!!
I am about (wishing) to make a knitting needle roll and, as you can see from today's posting, it will have to be a rather large one!!!
Have fun
Take care

That's exactly how I fold and store mine too...it's much better for seeing at a glance what is where! Well done for throwing out some fabric...if you KNOW you're not going to use it, then why keep it?

Hi Annie, got to admit I still have a couple of boxes of fabric to unpack - nothing like your hoard but bad enough. You're very organised with the folding. I like all the check fabric you have there - would make a great country style patchwork cover. How nice of the lady to think of you - just what you needed :) Hugs, Elizabeth x #56

That's a very clever way to store fabrics! I love your template idea and I think when I get around to fabric organization I will remember this and copy that idea to store the fabrics vertically. So much easier to see what fabrics you have!
Happy WOYWW!
