This week's smiles....week 261

Here we are at my Friday catch up of the week's smiles again....the week's are flying away aren't they?  It's March already and tomorrow is my darling hubby's birthday so, weather allowing, we will hopefully be making memories and having lots to smile about.

So here's the pics I am sharing today....

The materials I was waiting for have arrived.  They are for the two quilts I've been commissioned to make for two special little girls....and new fabrics always make me smile....especially ones as pretty as these.

I've already attacked them with my scissors too so haven't spent too long stroking them first.

Whilst looking for paperwork in my cupboards to finish off my accounts that I've been getting up to date this week I found two large wooden buttons that I bought ages ago and I've finally backed them with circles of felt and made two drink coasters with them.

I also noticed how I had scissors scattered in every cupboard I went in so thought I should have a sort out and made a sunshine out of them to share with you before putting them away where they should live [I thought it would brighten up this cold snowy day]....yes I do have rather a lot of scissors don't I?  Many of them get used on a daily basis as I have different scissors for each job I do...and God help you if you use my fabric scissors for cutting paper...the paper ones are the orange handled ones at 11 o'clock [no I'm really not a paper crafter am I?].

That's all from me for today.  Please leave me a little comment before you go and if you can then link to your own smiles below.
Hugs,
Annie x

Oh that is such pretty material. All pink and girly.
Your coaster buttons are unique! I have never seen those before. Fancy having those hidden away. (This post could have entered for T for Tuesday)
Gosh those are a lot of scissors. Yes, I fully understand the concept of having scissors only for fabric. My grandmother was a professional seamstress and made posh evening dresses for rich ladies to order (at home). This principle has been hammered into us from an early age. We did not touch Omi's scissors without dire consequenses. (and being good girls we didn't). And funny that, now that I am an adult, I have a pair of scissors in my sewing basket especially for fabric just like my grandmother.
Have a lovely weekend and a very smiley week ahead,
Lisca

Hi Annie, look forward to seeing how you use the lovely fabrics and the buttons are fun too. I had to smile at the scissors. As a retired textiles teacher your words are so familiar and I don't think my obsession for them has changed. I have a tiny pair which no one was allowed to touch and I used to have them tied with ribbon and hung round my neck so how sad is that. Off to walk dogs now. Stay warm and have a great weekend, Angela xXx

It was good I didn't prepare a Friday Smile this week, because I slept through your link up. Just woke because I'm still catching up from my trip earlier in the week. I'll be back next Friday, but for now, I wanted to check in and let you know that pink fabric is AWESOME. Wonderful fabric colors and patterns.

I have TONS of decorative scissors, several paper scissors, but only ONE specifically for fabric. Like you, I would be furious if someone used the fabric scissors to cut paper. Hope you have a great rest of Friday and a super weekend, dear.

I don't think you have enough scissors personally.... always room for one or two more 😁 Lovely fabrics too, especially the hearts one.

Hello Annie. Sorry I didn't manage a post today. I'm not in best frame of mind at the moment. I love the fabrics you have for the quilts. I think I could rustle up several pairs of scissors. Hope you have a lovely time tomorrow. Anne x

I have pieces of fabric tied to my fabric scissors so that the welder man doesn’t get mixed up. Whoa betide him if he even thinks of using them or any of my other tools. I have my own hammers and screwdrivers, spirt level and nails and screws. He takes his life in his own hands if he goes anywhere near them haha xxx

Sorry I didn't get back to comment at the weekend Annie. I don't think I am that busy, but there just aren't enough hours in the day. I love your pretty set of pink fabrics. They will make beautiful quilts.
I wonder what you thought you would do with those huge buttons, but you have put them to good use now. I did smile at your collection of scissors. I think I can just about match them, but only one pair of mine are kept for cutting material!! love Kate x
