WOYWW.....

Hello all.  I hope you've all had a good week.  I haven't had many customers this week but enough to keep me ticking over.  Of course I've not been sat doing nothing.....

I found something I fancied making and it needed lots of little squares cutting out so I set to and worked out how many I needed from the pattern I'd cut out.  I  found lots of pretty fabrics and covered my sewing machine table in colour.

I spent last Wednesday patching together the pieces and then made this cute Easter rabbit....I was rather pleased with it even though it didn't look quite the same as it was on the picture even though I'd printed off the pattern supplied.

Yesterday, I finished making these 8 bowl cosies...each one is different with a different lining to the outers.  Jo wants a couple of these and the rest will go to make money for the charity.

We've bought a new soup maker this week.....I've always made soup using a pressure cooker then blitzed it with a hand held liquidiser ...lots of time, effort and mess needed.
I'm loving the soup maker and, having spent a few days with a sore mouth post my dental extraction, I really enjoyed both of these soups...the top one was broccoli and stilton and the lower one was tomato and vegetable.....yum yum.

A few weeks ago I took sympathy on the last amaryllis in Aldis when we shopped.  It has now rewarded me by sprouting three flower shoots....I've never had one with three before so I'm really looking foward to it blooming now.

It's not a clear photo but my snowdrops have now started blooming....this always makes me smile.  Spring is on it's way.  Yahooooooo

That's all from me for this week. If you leave me a little message so I know you've called by I will pop over to yours to see what you've been up to this week.  I hope it's been a good one for you.

WOYWW....

The first thing I must do is to give you all a little update....I heard from Neet this week and she told me they have told her she may be in hospital for another 6 weeks.  I told her we were all thinking of her and sending her lots of love and good wishes for a steady recovery.

It's a time of new beginings and being creative here at Sewing by Annie's.

As many of you know our son has been living with us for the last 13 months and last weekend he got the keys to his new home so we had a weeekend of him moving all his stuff out of our bungalow [and caravan] ....an exciting time for all.  Our home seems a lot bigger and quieter of course so I have been keeping myself busy to fill the void.

I finished the Christmas rocking horses that you saw last week.

I made 8 little lined Christmas stockings to put Christmas money in for our Grandchildren.

I made a good start with making my Christmas cards and made 10 with baubles on and 10 with stars on....I really enjoyed being creative. The star ones are sparkly but it doesn't show up on the photo.

I had these funky clothes arrived to make 2 memory bears and a memory cushion with....I love hearing about much loved  family members.  These were in memory of a Dad who was a hippy :-)

I made this piece of patchwork, as requested, by a customer out of the clothing that belonged to her Mum and Dad to make 4 little hearts to hang on their Christmas trees this year....watch this space.

As you can see I've had a busy week but I've really had fun.  Please leave me a little message so I know you've called by and I will do my best to pop over to your's to see what you've been up to.

WOYWW...

It's been another busy week here at Sewing by Annie's and I'm buzzing.  I also have something special to share with you today.

Since I was here last week I made these three gorgeous little Memory bears.  They combine clothing that belonged to a much loved Mum and Dad that both died last year and I was thrilled with how well the fabrics combined....as was my customer.

I was then looking on Pinterest for a new project for the charity I support and as you can see on the logo there is a little frog and I thought I might make a few little frogs for them to sell.

Harry's mum Sally called in to collect all the latest things Jo and I had made for 2 up and coming sales and I mentioned to her that I had cut out 10 little frogs to make for the charity.  She could then tell me why there was a frog on the logo.....2 weeks after Harry died she had found a drawing that Harry had drawn in his bedroom drawer hence the design.  She then told me that they give a little frog to every newly diagnosed child with cancer and they had previously had searched the internet to buy them.  I asked how many newly diagnosed children they normally had and she said it was 10-15 a year so I'm thrilled to be able to supply the next ten with my little frogs [and am more than happy to make more when needed].....it was as if I knew :-)

Of course with all the fabric I have there was little or nothing in green to make them with so I had to buy some...these were the best I could buy and I have to say I am pleased with the results...

I always said I was as mad as a box or frogs and now there's no doubt :-)

I've managed to use up some of the donated fabric to make these cushion fronts.....just got to find something suitable to back them with now.

Lastly, but by no means least,  I just want to share this photo of the latest puppet Sam made this week....I just knew he'd enjoy making his own dalmation with that fabric :-)

I'm such a proud Nanny :-)

I hope you have enjoyed you visit this week and will leave me a little message to let me know you've called in and I will do my best to pop over to see what you've been up to this week....but please bear with me as it's a Louie day today and I do have another huge bag full of factory trousers to replace the zips in [this will be my last thankfully because I retire in 39 days...not that I'm counting :-) ].

WOYWW...

Hello all.  I really hope you've been managing to keep warm while we've been under a blanket of snow across the country.  I had a couple of customers who managed to bring their sewing to me but otherwise I've been using that gorgeous fabric I shared with you on Friday to make a quilt.....

For those who didn't see it on Friday this is the fabric I had ordered for two quilts I've been commissioned to make...it was my customer's choice of fabrics and isn't it all lovely?

The quilts are to have a panel in the middle with the little girl's names appliqued in and here is the first of them under my machine being stitched in place.....I do love this machine blanket stitch my machine does....don't you?

Once I'd finished the middle panel I then had lots of fun deciding where the patchwork squares were going to go before stitching them all together.
I then sewed a pink spotty border around the quilt before wadding and backing it and then quilted it all together.

I've now completed the first quilt but I'm keeping the name covered until it's been given to my customer.  I have another quilt to make now but we have to await the arrival of the new baby before we know her name so I've just been plotting and planning with colours until then......exciting times.

I hope you have enjoyed  seeing what I've been making this week and will leave me a little message so I know you've called by.  I will do my best to pay you a return visit but life is a little hectic here at the mo.

WOYWW....

Here we are again exposing our creative messes spaces with our friends from all round the world.  January has been and gone and here we are in February!!!!  Where does the time fly to?  I have had another varied week with sewing.....

I made 4 square table cloths in this pretty pink fabric for coffee mornings in the church near our old house.

Up on the shelf behind you might be able to see a box that once held cooking foil.....it's now holding something special that I just might show you at some point [if you're interested of course 😀].

I shortened curtains in this pretty grey fabric.

With the offcuts from when I made the fabric box a couple of weeks back I made 4 pretty coasters.....

....and I then made these for another little project I am working on.....more of that at a later date maybe?

I feel I have teased a little this week....it's a ploy to keep you coming back of course 😂😂😂😂

That's all from me for today.  Please leave me a little message to let me know you've called in and I will do my best to pop over to yours as soon as I can.

WOYWW....

On Friday our builders fitted our new kitchen french windows/doors and I have to be honest and say I don't think I stopped grinning all day....there are just two internal doors the builders have to hang and their work is done.  Not only have they finished the work to a very high standard but they have worked with us throughout and all our dreams have come true with the finished result.....what more could we ask for? For those that haven't seen my post from last Friday you might like to scroll down to see the layout of all the changes.

Our son, Mark has been working hard to do the second fix on the electrics and my darling hubby has nearly completed fitting the new bathroom....he's not a plumber and I have learnt new words at times when pipes have sprung leaks but it's all looking pretty good now.  We have painted all the bare plastered walls with the base coat now so even the dust is slowly reducing......wahooooooo

Enough about our building work because I know you have really come here to see what's on my work desk today.....

Whilst sorting my fabric stash I found a small bag full of ready cut 1" x 1 1/2" Christmas fabrics so I decided to use it for my Christmas cards this year....and now I not only have a completed sewing room but it is now a warm cosy completed sewing room.....I had no excuse to not enjoy some crafty fun. I  decided to patchwork them all together.

I then cut my strips of patchwork into 72 little Christmas trees....and every one is different :-)

I plan to mount them onto fabric and to embellish each one so watch this space.....

That's it from me for today....I've really enjoyed getting into my new sewing room and have even had several customers bring me work this week.  :-)

Please leave me a little comment so I know you've called by and I will pop over to yours as soon as I'm able.

WOYWW.....

Hi folks.  Here we are at another fun catch up day with all our crafty blogging friends from all over the world.  I love my snooping days and for those that would like to know more about what I'm talking about you can find all the information over at the Stamping Ground with our Queen of snoop, Julia.....just click on the link to find out more and join in if you're tempted.

It's been another quality 'family together time' week again this week while I help and support Shell while she recovers from her surgery.  She's slowly getting there and will be able to manage her little twinnies again soon but for now we are really enjoying our special time together. So what I'm showing you this week is where Jo and I went on Saturday.

We booked on a quilting workshop a few weeks ago and as others could step in to help out with the twins over the weekend I managed a girly day out.  We enjoyed a morning's workshop at the Quilters Trading Post at Buerton Old School, Woore Road, Buerton, Cheshire and by the end of the morning this is what I'd made...

I'm rather pleased with mine and also really love how choosing different fabrics give such different results as you can see from this pic that I took of all the finished quilt blocks made by the others in the group...

Aren't they all lovely.  We had a fab day doing something we love in the company of really special friends so what more could we ask for?......well maybe being surrounded by all these gorgeous wall mounted quilts for stimulation helped....

Oh and having a room filled to capacity with the most amazing fabrics available for us to buy...if we wanted to [and of course who wouldn't?].

I think you should be able click on the pics to enlarge them but better than that if you are in the area it's well worth dropping in to check out the gorgeous fabrics yourself....and I dare you not to buy some yourself.  Here's the rainbow of fat quarters that I came home with [ an early birthday treat from my big sister...thanks Jo].

Don't you just love the gorgeous colours?  I'm really not certain what I will be making with it all but one thing is for sure and that is I will spend many happy hours stroking it all before using it  :-)

Thanks for calling by today.  If you leave me a message to let me know you've called by I will do my best to return the visit as soon as I get the chance.

WOYWW.....

Hello to all on this gorgeous sunny Wednesday.  For those few that still don't know what WOYWW is all about then please go to the Stamping Ground where our wonderful Queen of Snoop, Julia will explain all about it.  We are such a friendly group and many wonderful friendships have been made because of it so please feel you can join in to have fun.

For those that have called in this week to see what's been going on here at Sewing by Annie's I have snapped a few pics to show you that there really is a sewing room here and that it is still in full working order ....even if it's rather temporarily set up ready for the move that as yet still hasn't happened.

  • Top left...my computerised machine and my overlocker
  • Bottom left....my industrial machine
  • Right....my blind hemmer
As I say my machines are still in full use but all my work surfaces have been removed from the walls and the machines are perched on make do surfaces now.....just didn't want any of you thinking I was sat here with my feet up  :-)

And this was my table on Monday....in full creative flow showing you what Jo and I get up to on a Funday Monday when the twins are on school holidays with their mummy.
....yessssss it was full of fabrics and fun.  :-)

Jo even caught me in full flow being creative making some mug rugs [like coasters made in fabric].
Please note the plaster on my finger....yes my kitchen knife was very sharp!!!

And here are the results....6 quilted mug rugs using patchwork and applique skills plus a wadded fabric holder to keep them all in.......dare I say these would look good in a new house!!!

Hope you have enjoyed your visit today.  It's been really good therapy to be rather more creative this week and share my creations with you all.  If you leave me a little hello comment I will do my best to pop over to yours to see what you've been up to this week.

WOYWW....

Hello to all my visitors.  This is the day, every week, when I link up to the wonderful Julia's blog over at the Stamping ground and expose my crafty space to the world.  Why not pop over there and join in the fun.....be warned though, it's addictive  :-)

This week I do actually have a bit of creative crafting to share with you [it's been ages since I felt creative].....

I rummaged through my fabric boxes and made some bed head protectors to match the new bedding and curtains we have bought to go in our new bungalow....when we get there!  Our bed has a metal bed head that rattles on the wall when you turn over in bed and it had ones with poppies on til now. :-)

Of course my knitting needles haven't been idle either and here is a pic of this week's stress busting knitting squares  :-)

I'm also sharing some pics of the twins checking up on the snowdrops in the churchyard over the road from our house....they love them.
For those who have asked snowdrops do grow from bulbs and as you can see they do spread...aren't they gorgeous?

I hope you have enjoyed your visit this week and will leave me a little hello comment so I know you've called by....I will do my best to call in on you as soon as I can to see what you've been up to this week.
Hugs,
