Fun in the snow....

No, alas not me  :-(

I'm full up with a cold.  Sore throat. Cough.  Earache.  Running temperatures......you know,  all we need leading up to Christmas  :-(  Just my luck eh?

But I will say that isn't stopping everyone else's fun in the snow.  Our eldest has broken up from school [as a teacher not a pupil though  :-)].  Her and her fiance have been out creating in the garden.

They have even had people at their door asking to take pics of her too  :-)

Wispa just loves the snow but now much snow can one little dog carry round on their nose and feet?.....She has now found a warm spot by the radiator to thaw out  :-)

I really do hope you are all well enough to enjoy the snow too and don't find it too much of a problem.

WOYWW...

Hello blogging friends.  It's been another busy week with more celebrations.  Sunday was my youngest granddaughter's Christening.  We had a really wonderful day and being 10/10/10 it will certainly be one to remember easily.  It was our Church's Harvest service too so the church was full of wonderful flowers and produce and looked really lovely.

I have looked after my two gorgeous little granddaughters all day Monday and Tuesday so as you can imagine not a lot of sewing has been done....apart from the couple of hours of mad catch up between 7 and 9ish each morning.  You will all guess what I will be doing today so please forgive me if I don't manage to get round all the blogs this week.

So when it comes to what's on my work desk this week its a case of .....

.....a full rail plus curtains and a bed cover to make and a Bridesmaid's dress to shorten.

.....because this is what has been going on in the other room.  Fun fun and more fun.

Can you blame me?  Where would you choose to spend your time? Sewing or fun?
So you will understand why I'm all behind with my sewing and why this is just a quick blog today.  Who cares?  They will be all grown up before I know it and the sewing will still be there  :-)
I've had a very special couple of days fun.  Hope your week has been as memorable as mine.
If you fancy joining in the WOYWW fun then pop over to Julia's blog and link your crafty exposure on Mr Linky.  Be warned though cos it's very addictive  :-)

A hot, steamy WOYWW...

Bet you're all wondering what you will see today :-)

Well, it's what I call a sauna day for me. I have 2 bridesmaids dresses to steam today. Things get rather hot here on days when I have to steam because it's a fairly small room I work in. I'm hoping it warms up a bit outside so I can open windows and doors to air the dresses afterwards.

Because I know you all like to see the mess we make here this is my sewing room table yesterday while we were having fun yesterday. We fill the table and floor with gorgeousness and sit each side of the table with our embellishing machines and dumf to our heart's content. We are so lucky.

For those wondering what the desk looks like this morning this is what I've been doing so far. I sit knitting while watching the telly in an evening and I've been doing a count up to see how many more squares I have to knit to make my baby blanket. Wahoo........ only 7 more to go then it's sewing up time and just the border to crochet then.

This picture is for all you garden lovers out there. This is the crab apple that I look out onto from my kitchen window. I can see a new dumfed picture in these colours can't you?

Thanks for dropping in on my blog and for all your lovely comments. If you would like to join in the WOYWW fun then please drop over to Julia the Queen of snoop's blog and show and tell all you've been up to lately. The group grows every week and getting round to you all takes me a couple of days now but I will do my best to drop in to you all to see what you're up to this week. Hope it's a good one for you all.

WIYWW.....[what's in my workroom wednesday]

I have been asked to blog a little about what my embellisher does so [as it is what is on my work desk this morning] I thought today would be a good day. If any of you has done hand felting this just does the same only much quicker and of course it only does flat felting and wont make the little teddies I make by hand. There are no needles to thread as none are used.

The machine has 5 very sharp barbed needles that push fibres from the fabrics/wool used through into the material below. On the outward stroke the needles just slide out as the barbs only point downward so these fibres are left in the material. This locks the two fabrics together and no sewing is required. Natural fabrics lock together best but it claims it can be used on most fabrics and trial and error teaches you which are best to use...I'm still learning. The effects are amazing. You can use fabrics, wool rovings and threads so it's possible to 'paint' pictures in threads.
I was bought 2 amazing books for my birthday and these have inspired both Twiglet and myself to explore the possibilities. We are really loving every minute of our Monday fun days.

For those who have asked to see my little hand felted bears they have all gathered on my ironing board for a photo shoot. Several have already found new homes and at time of publishing this blog these are waiting for new adoptive parents. I never make two exactly the same but if I sell one that is really wanted I am happy to make a similar one. Just shout. :-)
n.b. these were not made on the machine as their tummies were just too fat to fit under the needles :-)

p.s. Oops, as Elizabethd pointed out, I have not put the price of my bears.....they sell for £10 each and average about 3" sitting height. They are keepsakes/collectables and unsuitable for children to play with. They are made from wool rovings, details are stitched on after making and they have beads for eyes. Please email me if you are interested in adopting one.
p.p.s. They are all house trained :-)

F is the word...

Wahoo the Football season has started. This means more quality crafting time with big sister Twiglet. Last night was a Felting night. Much Fun was had and lots of giggling went on....then we opened the bottle! A small glass of wine topped up with lemonade helped the evening along. We did some wet felting first so it was bubble wrap, rolling pins, soap, water and felt of every colour.

3 pieces of flat felt each later and arms aching we moved on to needle felting onto a piece of nuno felt. We felted threads and silks in all sorts of shapes and patterns with plans to work on them further with beads, buttons and stitches before mounting them onto cards.

Me being me had to have something to show for our efforts as soon as possible so first thing this morning I've set to to make a few cards using our now dry felt. I'm rather pleased with them but am afraid the photos don't really do them justice. Maybe they will just give you an insight into what life should be full of......quality days with lots of fun and laughter.
