This week's smiles....week 243

Here we are at yet another week's round up of smiles....and trust me when I say I've had lots this week.

First I must thank those who linked up their smiles from last week....our numbers are few but it's always worth seeing what's making our friends smile.

And now my smiles for this week.....

As most of you know I celebrated my 60th birthday this week and this is the banner my daughter and her hubby made to hang up for my party...the photo isn't very clear but there are ten of my favourite black and white photos of me as a child on it so it's very special to me.

Here's a collage of some of the pics taken at my party......I'm one very proud Mum and Nanny.  Just check out that amazing cake my daughter in law made for me....isn't it gorgeous?

This is a photo of a very special friend who was able to join me at my party....we have known each other 56 years having started school together at Minsterley Primary.
She moved schools half way through primary school when her parents moved house but we both passed our 11+ at aged 10 years and started grammar school together in the same class at the Priory Girls School.
She left school at the end of year 5 and I stayed on to do A levels.
Without knowing we both applied to go nursing and were accepted into the same intake, shared a room in the nurses home and did our three years nursing together.
We had our families together and have remained best friends throughout.....and all that without mobile phones to keep in contact with each other!
She celebrates her 60th birthday 5 days after me so we are close in very many ways.....Happy birthday Dawn for Saturday. xxxxx

My other smiles for this week are...

Look at the sad state of Milly's little brown dog toy.....she managed to chew her way through the new cover I'd made and pull his stuffing out.....all over the living room floor!!

Ta da! yes I know I'm mad but she can still smell her fav toy through the new cover and I have one happy little friend so it's worth my efforts.

And here's the proof....I will do my best to keep her little toy going for her.  She loves to shake it like a rat and throw it around the room herself so life just wouldn't be the same without it...and she's worth it.

There you go.  Some of my smiles for this week.  It's the fancy dress party tonight for my son's 30th so you may well see a few more pics next week.

WOYWW....

It's been a week of partying and celebrations here for me.... My 60th was on Monday and it's my son Mark's 30th birthday today.  I've been spoilt rotten and we still have a 80s/90s fancy dress party for my son to come yet.

I had party with all my family and many of my close friends last Sunday tea time and I was made to feel very special....many thanks to all who sent me cards and birthday messages.  I'm sharing the gorgeous oil painting my hubby had done for me of a certain little special friend of mine....simply because I love it and know many of you will appreciate the talent of the artist....he's a local artist called Andy McIntyre of McIntyre Studios and I must say he is one very talented man.  He's not only got a perfect likeness but he's managed to get her character into the painting....

I'm also sharing the gorgeous flowers my youngest daughter and her hubby sent me....because they are just too gorgeous to keep them all to myself....they are just all my fav colours.

There's not a lot on my desk this week because as you can imagine I've not had a lot of time for sewing but.....

I did make these new design tooth fairy pillows on Monday as a special request and have already sold two of them and....

...having had a visit from two very special little brownies yesterday I will be sewing their badges on today.

So there you go....I've shown you mine now if you leave me a little comment to say you've called by I will do my best to pop over to see what you've been up to this week.

This week's smiles...week 59

What a wonderful bunch you all are.  We had so many fab happy posts again last week and I would like to thank all that took time out of their busy lives to join in making the world a happier place by sharing their smiles.  I am featuring two blogs this week....

The first is Laura's gorgeous photo of her daffodil ...what a gorgeous bright yellow it is and it just has to mean that spring is on it's way......wahoooooooo.  Thanks for sharing that gorgeous photo Laura.

The other blog I'm sharing is my big sister Jo's.  If you haven't seen the gorgeous card she made for my hubby's birthday it's well worth popping over to have a look at.  She is so clever....he loved it and so did everyone who saw it  :-)

This week has been full of smiles for me.  My darling hubby had a BIG birthday on Monday so since last Friday's smiley post there has been lots of celebrations including a surprise party with about 30 of our dearest friends and family on Sunday. What made it so very special was the fact our three 'children' had plotted, planned and worked together to organise it all without either of us knowing a thing about it.  :-)  I really didn't know we had brought them up to be so devious :-)

Here are a few pics to share with you...

I have a feeling 5 little people just love their Granddad.  The gorgeous banner was made by our son-in-law Dave and had loads of photos showing the many stages in life of the birthday boy :-)

....and yes that really is a builder's bum birthday cake....it caused so many giggles.

The other thing I want to share with you is this poster that I found on Pinterest....

Having now knitted over 90 house moving, stress busting, quilt squares you can well imagine just how many lives have been saved!!!....mostly estate agents and solicitors  :-) :-)

There you go. I've shared some of the many smiles from my week.  Why not share some of yours by linking them below?  Pleeeeeeaaaasssseeeee  :-)

WOYWW...

Another week has passed and wow it's been a great one here.....My darling hubby celebrated his 60th birthday on Monday.  Our wonderful family planned and organised a surprise party for their dad on Sunday without even me knowing anything about it!!!  There was about 30 of our closest family and friends there and it was really really special.....a few pics will follow on Friday cos there certainly was lots there to smile about  :-)

So? Being as you are all here today to see my desk I'd best show you what's on there...

My table seems covered with my house moving, stress busting, knitted squares....now up to 85 completed  :-)  I have a feeling by the time we get into this new home of ours I will have enough for blankets for every bed there  :-)

Shell has asked me to make pin boards for the twin's new bedrooms and here is the fabric they want them making with....
Lexi wants an owl theme and Sam wants robots on his.

Hopefully some time this week I will get these made so you might get to see them finished on next week's post.

And lastly here is a pic of the candle lit meal for two that we shared Monday night to celebrate the BIG birthday.  He had been given several restaurant vouchers from a collection they had for him where he works and thankfully he chose to take me with him  :-)

Cheers....here's to many many more happy birthdays to celebrate together.....love you lots xxxx

Thanks for calling by today.  If you leave me a little hello comment I will call in on you later to see what you've been up to this week.

Just the one.....

It's been another hectic weekend of more 'rather too soon contractions', thunder and a 'big number' family birthday party.

Saturday evening M started having contractions again and had to spend the night in hospital....thankfully they have stopped again and she was allowed home Sunday morning after seeing the Dr but was given strict instructions to go straight back if they start again so they can monitor the little ones.  Bless her, she has never been one to make a fuss for nothing and doesn't like to go in and be a 'waste of time'.  The staff at the hospital have all been really lovely and have reassured her that this is just what they want her to do because they need to get everything ready in plenty of time when these two little ones decide to arrive.....especially as they look to be very keen to make an appearance......It would be really nice if they would just hang in there for another 3 weeks so please keep your fingers crossed for us.

Having been awake til midnight waiting to see what decision was going to be made with M in the hospital we then went to bed only to be woke very soon after by thunder....the storm was right over the top of the hospital too just 10 miles from us [just what M needed!!].  I don't mind a thunder storm while I'm tucked up in bed but we have 3 little dogs that really don't like it.....they scratch the doors to get out of their room and then bark!!!  This went on til nearly 2 o'clock!!!  Not a good night was had by all.

Sunday morning was spent catching up with housework and getting the Sunday lunch whilst waiting to see what decision was going to be made for M........Heart monitors on both babies [when they would stop moving!] showed all was well so she was able to go home.
In the afternoon we collected our son, when he finished work, and called by and picked up, a now rested and refreshed, M to go to my Hubby's big sister's 60th Birthday party.  It was so lovely to have a gathering of the clan for a happy occasion like this and M insisted on coming.  We carefully wrapped her in cotton wool [I did suggest I could deliver the babies alfresco on the new decking but it wasn't needed thankfully] and everyone was really thrilled to see her still intact but it made us all realise by the time most of the family members see her next she will be 3!!....It's getting so close now.

Of course I couldn't go a whole weekend knowing that one more little dress would bring my numbers to 60 so on Saturday afternoon while my hubby was at the footy match I set to and made this little dress.  I decided number 60 should be a statement so I've used the gorgeous red material Anne sent me.  Isn't it bright and cheery?  I love it.
