WOYWW.....

Here we are at yet another Wednesday catching up with all our creative friends all round the world by linking up over at Julia's....please pop over there for details if you'd like to join in the fun.

This week we have benefited from some gorgeous Spring weather and have been enjoying making a start in our new garden to change what needs to be changed in readiness for the building work we have planned.  One of the gardens has to be moved to make a patio in front of our new kitchen doors so we have been making a raised bed to take at least some of the surplus soil...

The area to the right of the steps will become the patio....well, that's the plan :-)

This little bed has really filled with the bulbs in bloom now but as you can see the weeds have taken over too so yesterday morning while the sun was shining [it really is a sun trap in our new back garden] I made this my work desk and .......

.....pulled this lot out so it now looks like this.....

....and doesn't it look better now? :-)

I can't have hyacinths in the house because the heady perfume gives me a sort of asthma attack but I love the smell and am really enjoying all the gorgeous blooms in the garden.

My indoor desk this week had another challenge for me.  Some of you might recognise this waistcoat as I've shown it on here before.  It belongs to a special gent that I sew for and this was a real favourite of his.  I have repaired many areas several times over the years.  It has special pockets in it that he could keep his mobile phone easily accessible to his good hand....he's had a stroke and relies heavily on his good side.  The waistcoat has become very worn now and beyond repair so I've been asked to use the area unworn on the back to make a special cushion cover for his fav chair.

Ta da!!  Here is the finished cushion cover.....It's for a surprise birthday present and I'm sure he will really love it. :-)

Don't you just love it when you know what you've done will put a huge smile on the face of someone special? :-)

That's all from me for this week.  I hope you've enjoyed your visit and will leave me a little hello comment so I know you've called by.  I will do my best to pay you a return visit as soon as I am able.
Hugs,
Annie x

I don't like the scent of hyacinths much at all... but your newly weeded garden looks great!! The make over cushion is gorgeous, and I am sure the gent will love it! Helen 3

Hello from a fellow dealer. I had a wander in the garden and there's a lot to be done at this time of year. Well done for making a start. The cushion is a lovely idea

My desk has been outdoors this week too, the garden is looking an awful lot better. I Can't have hyacinths in the house either, the perfume is too strong..same with lilies too.
And the recycling of the waistcoat is lovely,l hope the gent likes it :-)

Love your pretty photos. Would be so fun to have flowers. Temps fell to 32 and rain during the night, missed the snowfall, but I bet the roads are a sheet of ice. Home I will stay !!
I'm in need of green, flowers and outdoor time. Totally love the idea of that vest being a cushion cover. It's neat fabric.
Good luck with the outside makeover, nice when the guys can help with updates too. Enjoy

What a lovely idea to use the unworn part for another useful and beautiful article to give pleasure. I was aiming to get busy in my garden this week, doing some much needed pruning and planting, but a nasty cold caught at the NEC put an end to that idea for a bit. Glad you are settling into your new house and garden. Enjoy finding all the things you haven't seen over the next few weeks. xx Maggie #14

Hi Annie and thanks for visiting. Oh isn't it so nice when the weather pulls us outside into the garden..I don't mind weeding at all. You have truly done a great job recycling that amazing vest. Have a great week Cheers RobynO#27

Annie, that waistcoat to cushion idea is fabulous, and the result will surely make one old man very happy.
Ah gardens, the trouble is the sunshine encourages the weeds just as much as it does the flowers we want to grow. Looking good there.
Thanks for dropping by,

What a lovely surprise too. He will love it. At least you can upcycle it (very trendy at the mo). Lovely flowers in your garden.

It's a sign the better weather has arrived, lots of deskers are in the garden this week! It's lovely to see your new outside space, Annie and beautiful it looks too.
I have the same problem with Hyacinths, they are the only flower perfume I don't like but I love them in the garden too.
Thanks for sharing

Your garden is coming on nicely. flowers already. I have just bought some bulbs yesterday and will plant them this week. Our problem here is too much sun and too much heat.... (it's never right, is it)
Hope the twins are behaving and that you'll get some time to craft.
The waist coat is stunning. What a shame it has had its day. Good idea to make a cushion. I'm sure he'll treasure that!
Thanks for visiting earlier,
Have a great week,
