A Count up for a Competition to help me Celebrate.....

I have so much to celebrate....

  • My first born child was 28 on Saturday.  You will know her as M, Michelle or Shell, and a beautiful new mum of two gorgeous babies. She has had 12 months of extreme highs and lows as you know but has thankfully survived and has sooooo much to celebrate.

Here you can see her with her gorgeous 'husband to be' on Friday night with another wonderful birthday cake made by my very talented son and his girlfriend. They get married in July so we have lots of exciting planning going on between now and then.

  • I have now posted over 500 posts here on my blog and would like to thank all that have encouraged and supported me.
  • I reached 200 followers over the Christmas break but life got in the way and I was unable to celebrate it.
  • I have just been asked to make another Mr Tumble doll. You will be able to watch him develop here over the next couple of weeks.
  • We are having a sale over in our blog shop so do pop over here to grab a bargain.
  • I have made 91 little dresses for the 'Dress a Girl' charity and would like to thank all that have donated the fabric to make this possible.  I mention this because it is an ongoing challenge for Jo and I and this Saturday was spent cutting out more dresses.....which leads me to the competition.
The Competition
Jo and I had taken a short break from making the little dresses for the charity we support over the last few weeks because Christmas, New Year, hospital admissions and life just generally got in the way and alas there are still only 24 hours in every day.  We had been kindly given very many sheets, quilt covers and gorgeous pieces of material by so many people that I was struggling to store the huge mountain that they made.  This Saturday our men left us for the day and travelled north to watch their footy team play in the cup [alas they lost 1-0] so we were foot loose and fancy free for a whole 12 hours!
So? What do two sewing sisters do for 12 hours?....
Answer .....we cut out dresses  :-) :-) :-) :-)

Here you can see all the little dresses that we managed to cut out.  What I am asking you to do is to guess how many we managed to bag up.  We have cut out the dresses plus bias strips and pockets and trims for each dress and bagged them up ready for sewing.  Do note that there is more than one dress kit in each bag.

Rules to enter the competition
  1. Guess how many dress packs we cut out on Saturday and leave your guess in a comment below
  2. Be a follower of here and in our blog shop and you can have another guess
  3. Pop a link to our blog shop on your blog and you can have a third guess
There will be a prize [or two] for the nearest guess and you will have a whole week to get there  :-) :-)
I will be having a count up and will post the answer with the name of the winner next Monday.
.....and I'm not telling you what you will win yet.....cos I haven't decided  :-)

I do hope you will join in the fun and help me celebrate.

hang on a minute, I thought you were aiming for 100? There are more bags than the 9 needed ... Ok I go for 63, the year of my sewing machine!

Mmmm I'm guessing at 69 but as I'm your daughter... if I win I'll let the next closest one of your lovely blogging friends have the prize.xxx

My blog is slowly increasing in followers and commenters - especially with the help of Darcy's postcard challenge but I am not sure I'll reach the heady heights of your good self. It is good to hear that all is the right way up in your world and that you have so much to look forward to already in 2012.

The last time I tried to estimate I went so ridiculously overboard I shall probably do the reverse and underestimate to severely but I shall try 38 (and hope I haven't offended).

Such talented ladies and congrats on your 200+ followers....my guess will be 60....good luck everyone.

Happy Birthday to Michelle and I hope this year goes far better for them all than last. It's lovely to have the wedding to look forward to and we still must sort out what you need for those flower dies. Lots to do!!!
I won't guess how many cut outs prepped as I'd hate to win after being soooo lucky already getting Twiglet's prize!
Hugs Jo x

Hi Annie, Did try yesterday to post a comment but blogger was not playing for me so here I am again. You two people are quite amazing people and so my guess is an amazing 93 as I reckon you will have worked like billy-o to get as many cut out as possible to reduce your fabric mountain a bit.
Take care.

I don't ever get guessing competitions right, but.... I get two guesses so....57 and 61. Don't ask me why!

Calico Kate said...

Heavens above, you don't let the grass grow under your feet do you?!
My first guess was in the 70's then I halved and for some reason came up with 36 and now I'm thinking again...two people 12 hours even if you take a break... it's like one of those awful time and motion exam questions isn't it? I'm going to plump for ... 64! Pulled it out of the air! I suspect it is twice that!
Much love

I'm thinking completely outside of the box here. You said you cut them all out on Saturday and then asked how many dresses you made. Well none cos you were too busy cutting them all out.!! Told you I was outside the box. Hugs Mrs A.

Annie said...

I've corrected myself now Mrs A....what it should have said was how many dress packs did we cut out....you are just too clever by half. Please have another guess.
Annie x

Hi Annie, however many you did it is fantastic ... I'd guess in the region of 54 ... but then what do I know about how long it takes to cut out a wee dress. Elizabeth x

wow you do have a lot of excitement going on with new grandchildren and weddings etc, and you deserve loads of followsers you are so wonderful as a blogging friend.

Thank you for lettiung me know about your competition, with recent events I had missed it. Bless you.

How many dresses in 12 hours? hummm As you say you top the cutting charts in your clue, looking at the size of that table, and how long it would take me to cut out a pattern taht size I already knew by heart having done so many already, allowing for fatigue and coffee breaks .... I'd be guessing somewhere near 240.

Anne said...

Hi Anne here again I think I qualify for a second guess. Please delete if I'm mistaken. Am going for 44 this time. Anne x

Neet said...

Oh heck - jet-lag is stopping the old grey cells working but I will have a guess at 104. You two sisters are a credit to all for making so many dresses already and continuing with the sewing. Thank goodness for angels like you two.
Thanks for sharing - Hugs, Neet xx

It is 3:25am our heating has banged on and off for 2hrs until I switched the boiler off and I now can't sleep. So I have put your shop link on my blog and am sticking a 3rd guess in of 80 because you have said the decade in your clue and also because the only scissor sisters link I can find to the 80s is a cover of Comfortably Numb which if my mind recalls correctly was number 1 at the beginning of the decade......
Off to attempt some sleep before T wakes up a 6..........

I'm going to guess a random 103. Whatever the number there's a lot of sewing up to be done.
