Another week has passed and, of course, I have found lots to make me smile.
It was a week filled with excitement for our little Granddaughter Lexi. She has been in Elf on the main stage at Shrewbury Theatre. It was the first time on the main stage and she was brilliant in it....very proud Nanny Annie moments......and yes there was more that a tear or two.
I'm so excited to be able to now share some wonderful news with you [I've been given permission]. Our son Mark and his wife Gina are expecting a little brother for Theo.
There have been many weeks of worrying/waiting but Gina had a scan this week and the consultant yesterday confirmed that all is well and it's a little boy due in April....I can't wait.
You may have seen on Wednesday that I returned the new sewing machine and replaced it for a better one because the first one failed to do the jobs I needed it for.
While we at the sewing machine shop my hubby asked about my old machine, how much it would cost to have it fixed and what the E1 Error message actually meant. He said it could be serious or possibly it could be something as simple as a new fuse but that it was a difficult thing to replace because of it's location.
Of course there was nothing to lose so Hubby took it apart [with a little assistance from Mark] and replaced the fuse......hey presto!! It's mended....I'm so very proud of him/them.
Finally keeping in mind that we may be getting some snow soon I thought I'd share this funny I saw on Facebook.
It made me chuckle.
Please leave me a little message so I know you've called by and then share your smiles by linking up below.
Hello all. What a week it's been here at Sewing by Annie's. I will try to update you quickly in pics ...
Whilst I was doing the free machine embroidery on my Christmas cards last Wednesday my Janome packed in [It was an electronic error so was pretty terminal sadly...I'd had it a long time and used it lots so it owed me nothing]....doesn't it always happen when your busy? As I have two other clever machines I only needed one for basic sewing [and for use by the Grandchildren of course] so we ordered a new one and hey presto! this little beauty arrived Thursday morning at 8.30....brilliant service eh?
Shell dropped by with Sam with some Harry Potter fat quarters with a request for a length of 15 flag bunting for Sam's bedroom so I ran this up in my spare time [what spare time I hear you say lol].
The first of my Memory bears from this week was made in Memory of a much loved mum using 3 of her favourites tops.
Sadly the parcel that was coming from Swansea still hasn't arrived. It will just be a dressing gown to the post office but meant so much more to my customer so I'm really sad to think that it has got lost in the post.
UPDATE...The parcel arrived at 7.30 last night :-) :-)
The next batch of Memory bears I've made this week were made in memory of a Dad that died too soon and was made from his dressing gown....I really hope it brings lots of comfort to his family.
My desk today looks like this.....It's rather more like a sweat shop this week with two huge bin bags full of factory white trousers needing new zips. I've got 50 in total and I'm making my way through them steadily.
On top of all that I have also...
Shortened 2 pair of trousers
Let out the waist and seat on 5 pair of trousers
Shortened 2 nurses dresses and
Shortened a post frock
It might surprise you to know that I have done all the machine embroidery on my Christmas cards but they wont get the finishing touches done any time soon. It really has been a cracking week and although it's all or nothing here I love to be kept busy so am more than happy to take the work when I can get it. I have 4 gents trousers arriving needing shortening today and have a bridesmaid's dress booked in for a fitting so there will be little time for getting up to any mischief.
Hope you're all well and happy and I promise I will do my best to call by to see what you've been up to this week in between my sewing jobs.
It's just a quick post from me today because I am to keep sitting down to only short spells. I saw a Dr on Friday who confirmed that it is sciatica that I have [as if I didn't know!] and she gave me strong pain tablets and muscle relaxants but they of course come with side effects....they do my head in [as the kids would say] and they have to come with a bottle of laxatives! That was the good news! She then said it could last 18months to 2 years!!
So Monday morning after sleeping most of the weekend due to the pain tabs I booked in with a physio who also does acupuncture....she's got magic hands but after a good examination she says it is my sacro-iliac joints that are effected and they are trapping the sciatic nerve on my right hand side. :-( She gave me some physio and a treatment of acupuncture and has sent me home with gentle exercises to realign my pelvis and I am to sit only for short periods and to lie down twice daily!!....I will be doing everything I can to improve it because I really don't want to be suffering 2 years!.
So on my desks today is very little.....
I've moved my Janome machine over onto my table so that it can stay set up to sew my Christmas cards....and I"m doing those in short bursts.....as you can see it's in the morning sunshine.
That's freed up my Juki machine to do the sewing jobs quickly as they come in to keep on top of my work.
The other end of the room I've got my blind hemmer and overlocker ready to keep sewing jobs cleared too....but as you can see at the mo they are both idle as my work load has lessened thankfully.....but I do have many more memory bears coming before the end of the week to make but I promise they will be done at a leisurely pace too.
Today I am having a special visitor so you may need to come back on Friday to see who that is.;-)
Thanks for calling by. I wont promise I will get round every desk this week but I will do my best.
