WOYWW.....

Hi fellow WOYWWers.  Hope you're all having a great week. It's been another busy one here for me.  We still don't have our building planning permission but things sound to be moving in the right direction thankfully.

My show and tell today is one of my crafting table that has been lifted into the sitting room for me to open it out for some cutting out this week.

I have struggled to find enough room to pull my table out in my 'make do' little sewing room and my fabric pile was growing so for a day or two I am opening my table out in the middle of the living room so I can cut out a few tops for myself.  You can see there are 3 tops now cut out at the end of the table and the next one is on it's way  :-)

Of course this doesn't include the 4 pieces of fabric to make some summer tops out of so the table may be used for a while yet  :-)

This is a before pic of the room that will eventually become my sewing room....why would anyone clad the walls in a modern bungalow to give a Tudor effect to one of the rooms?....answers on a postcard please  :-)

Thankfully it's only wood cladding and will all be removed so the walls can be plastered once the doors are blocked up.

And wahoooooooo there is progress.....here's a pic of my darling hubby and son obviously discussing something important and as you can see they have been really busy removing the cladding....now it's about half stripped and the room already seems so much bigger.

I really can't wait to get in there now....exciting times  :-)

Thanks for calling by this week.  If you leave me a comment to let me know you've called I will do my best to call by at yours to see what you're up to.  Please note that I do call by at all who have visited me but I am unable to leave comments on many of the google+ blogs....sorry.

WOYWW.....and a Rubber Stamp sale.....

Hi folks.  Yes another busy week has passed and it's Wednesday again when the world goes mad and we expose our crafting spaces.  If you want to find out more and join in the fun then please pop over to Julia's blog and put yourself on Mr Linky.

Mine has been a week of change as most of you will know so I am showing you how my  sewing/crafting space has altered this week.  If you look at the previous post you will see that the doorway between our sitting room and my sewing room has now been knocked through and to allow space to walk through my work surfaces and storage spaces have had to be moved.

They have gone from here.......

.......to here.  Yes it is a pretty subtle change but the whole lot had to be taken off it's fixings and moved about 10" to the right.  I had to lose some width on the work surface on the right but I have gained a little in it's depth so this helps.  I liked how the machines were set out before and I believe in 'if it ain't broke why fix it' so really didn't want too much change there.

I have also gained a new 2 metre work surface the length of the other wall and can now store my boxes under this [I might be tempted to put a curtain to hang under here at some point....what do you think?].  As you can see there is still lots dumped on it's top but when I have a little more time I will be finding storage boxes and new homes for most of this.

Bless him, my other half even got injured in making all the changes...he came up under one of the work surfaces and scraped right down his back  :-(  Ouch!
As mentioned in the title Twiglet helped me sort out my rubber stamps into sets to sell.  I have used them all but have always kept them clean [and actually only used them very few times each] so they are all pretty much as new.  They are now for sale in the shop at £10 a bag and each bag has rubber stamps worth at least double that when they were bought new so are a good bargain....if you need more details on any of them just email me.

Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to read my blog.  Have a great week.  Hope to catch up on as many WOYWWers as I can.

A weekend of change and hidden finds....

We have spent the last 3 days knocking through the doorway between my sewing room and the sitting room.  I have been taking lots of photos to record the change so if you want to browse through feel free.

Friday started with the making up of the door frame to mark out the size of the hole needed.

Then started the knocking off of the plaster...and the dust!

Yes.....DUST!

Lots of it everywhere...
......but it's pretty much all gone now  :-)

Once the plaster was knocked off hidden surprises were exposed....there had been a doorway here before but it must have been 70 plus years ago because my family have lived here for over 60 years and there was another couple living here before them.  We found two wooden lintels above where the door had been

As the bricks started to be removed the acrow went in to support the weight above.  Bags were filled with the bricks and rubble.  Only about 7 bricks could be put in each bag as they were otherwise too heavy to lift so a huge amount of bags were piled up outside ready to go to the local tip.

Skye thought the dust sheets were for her to lie on  :-)

As all the bricks were removed and the plaster on the other side of the wall the back of the wardrobe in my sewing room was exposed.  I was busy in my sewing room and I could hear my hubby's haste to get the back out of the wardrobe so he could peep through to me  :-)

And of course he wasn't the only one to peep through....I had several 'The Man, The Dog and The Wardrobe' moments  :-)

What's going on Mum?

As the wardrobe was removed the quarry tiles in the old doorway were exposed.

A peep at the chaos in my sewing room....don't forget it all has to be ready for me to work on Monday morning!

A new work surface going in in my sewing room to allow me extra storage underneath  :-)

Well that is all for now folks.  More tidying and organising to go yet but will update on Wed so all my WOYWW can see my new room layout.  Thanks for looking.

Progress so far....

It's been a busy weekend [but what's new?].  Twiglet and I managed to fit in another fab Knit and Natter on Saturday at the Theatre but most of the rest of the weekend was spent on the house alterations.

Books and Cds were boxed up from the shelves.  Videos and cassettes were boxed up for the charity shop and a lot of other unused items were sorted and disposed of....it's a great way of having a clear out of old stuff.

The corner where the doorway is going to be knocked through was cleared and exposed.  You may be able to see all the wires that have to be moved to the other side of the fireplace.  This involved rerouting satellite, tv and phone wires.  There was lots of drilling through walls, carpets and floor boards lifted and wires pulled  to their new homes and dangled from new made holes in ceilings.
Here the telly table now moved to it's new home and all the wires are being reconnected with the techy boxes.  Head torch is a must here but don't think it will start a new fashion craze  :-)
Ta da.  The wall shelving and telly are now in their new home at the other side of the fireplace.  It will take a bit of getting used to but needs must.
Oh... and just in case you think I have been sitting watching the work being done watch out for tomorrow's blog cos the army moved in here on Friday and that kept me busy all weekend  :-)
