WOYWW...

Hello all and a very happy Blog Aniversary to you all.  Here is the ATC I made to share with you all...

I felt a poppy was appropriate this year to remember our dear friend Neet.  She was someone I'd known as long as I'd been part of the wonderful group of WOYWWers and I would have called her a dear friend...she will be sadly missed.  If you'd like to help yourself to a copy of my ATC please feel welcome and thank you all for your love and friendship over yet another wonderful year of blogging.

I was missing last week because I was somewhere in the depths of doing this...

...this is one of the many prom /wedding /bridesmaids dresses I've been busy with but this one was special for me.  It is for a young lady I've known from a baby and seen growning up.
She's a lovely young lady and looks stunning in her dress....it has 5 layers that all needed shortening so it was a job and a half.

We have also been busy out in our garden and our little Peggy just loves to pose for a photo.

I thought you'd like to share in the fabulous flowers making us smile in our garden at the mo.....there seems to be colour in every direction at the moment.

Lastly but by no means least I would like to share this photo of Lexi who took part in a dance show put on by her dance group on Sunday.
We enjoyed 2 1/2 hours of fabulous dancing by all ages ...I think the youngest was 3-4 years old and she melted our hearts.
Lexi is the smallest in the group of girls she dances with but she was amazing and this photo just shows her love for what she does...so very proud of her.

So that's all from me for this week.  I will do my best to call by at yours in between my sewing jobs.  I hope you all have a wonderful week.
Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW...

Hello to all my WOYWW friends.  Here's hoping Neet it still going on well and is able to join us now and then....we miss you lots.

I've had a week of folk coming out of the woodwork wanting sewing done for Weddings, Proms, Memory bears and everyday clothing....my diary is fast filling.

This is one of the bridesmaid dresses that I have done this week.  I had to take it up on the shoulders so that needed little gathers putting in the tops of the capped sleeves once the amount was taken out .....lots of keyhole surgery done and it was a very fiddly job but it was worth it because the finished job was lovely.

I also had to shorten the hems of the 3 layers of the skirt....all 13 metres of them!!

In between my sewing jobs I have knitted my first twiddle mitt while watching the telly....thanks Jo for the instruction. I've found knitting with chunky wool on large needles so much kinder on my arthritic hands and have really enjoyed making it...so much so that I have now started number two.

I'm not the only one to have enjoyed some telly this week.  Peggy really loves David Attenborough's Secret Garden programme....she sits like this every time one of the animals comes on screen :-)

This is all from me for this week.  If you leave me a little message I will call by to see what You've been up to this week.

Hugs,

Annie x

WOYWW....

Another week has gone by and I've had a few more customers this week so have things to share with you.

I love that no two days are the same here at Sewing by Annie's.  This week I was brought these details embroidered on a piese of net that I was to transfer to the bottom edge of a Wedding veil.
I had to stitch over each individual letter then had to carefully cut away the excess netting to just leave the lettering....a tricky job that needed a lot of patience.

In between sewing jobs I have got a ball of pretty rainbow yarn out and have been knitting little jointed teddies....I used to knit these about 40 years ago and many of them still hold special memories :-)

I've also made two banana and sultana cakes...they are rather yummy so please help yourself to a slice to have with your coffee.

Monday morning Peggy went to the groomers and is now feeling very proud of her new haircut and wanted me to share it with you. :-)

The other thing I wanted to share with you because I thought they would make you smile.  Our garden is bursting into blooms in every corner so I've snapped a few pics and collaged them for you...I hope you like them.

Hugs,

Annie x

WOYWW....

Here we are at another Wednesday catch up with our creative friends around the world.

It's been another bear filled week for me...

I made the four you saw on my desk last week and made each one a label as requested...I really loved making these.

I then made these four for another returning customer and she loved them so much that she now wants another 2 making...

....and these are now cut out and waiting on my desk to be sewn today.

In between making those bears I was asked to make this lovely school Memory bear....it's to be given to a member of staff that is leaving at the end of term...I think it's a lovely idea....and it's for a school that I've not made a bear for before.

I then had to make these two lovely bears in memory of a dad who was taken too soon for his children to remember him by.

Julia laughed last week at the thought of me having spare time but I do :-)
When Sally called in for all the things Jo and I had made for The Harry Johnson Trust she said that tags sell well so I made a few...they now have ribbons attached .
The funny thing is that while I was making these Jo was also making some.

I also had fun making these Christmas tree hangers for the fur babies in the family.

Talking of fur babies. Our little Peggy was spayed on Monday and here she is in her protective vest.  She's been a very good girl and has kept me company in my sewing room since her op.
The hardest thing we have to do is to stop her running round and jumping up for 10 days....wish us luck.

That's all from me for today.  I hope you have enjoyed your visit and will leave me a little message.  I will do my best to pay you a return visit  ASAP.
Hugs,
Annie x

This week's smiles....week 431

Hello all.  Firstly I must say that this will be the last Friday smiles post for a while at least.  My life is so busy right now that I am limiting myself to the Wednesday posts until life settles down for us.  It's a commitment every week and I hate to let anyone down by not posting the link at least.  Thank you to all who have joined in each week and I hope you all understand.

Last week we had a lovely week near Tenby in south Wales and even managed to catch up with Jan [photo on Wednesday's post for those that haven't seen it].  We managed most days with no rain and even when it did rain it didn't affect us.  Here's just a few pics ....

I loved the knitted post box topper and the garden full of animals.  We enjoyed a lot of the little coves/beaches and Peggy enjoyed the freedom with her ball and the water when the situation allowed.

That just leaves me to share the funnies I've found in the last week and to say another big thank you for all the love and support each week.

Hugs,
Annie x

This week's smiles....week 427

Here we are at our weekly catch up of things that have made us smile.  As always I have had many smiles and our little Peggy has given us many this week...

We like to take her up onto a hill near us and let her off her lead to play ball with a ball launcher.  She loves it and runs like a rocket to fetch the ball and brings it straight back to us....if you can see the red arrow in the top left pic you can see just how far she runs.

She's a real little poser and loves sitting out in our garden.

I have a few funnies to share with you of course.  I hope you find something here to make you smile and will then leave me a little comment before linking up to your own smiles below.

This week's smiles.....week 424

I've mostly been smiling this week because it's rained at times and it's been rather cooler.  I've only had one bridesmaid this week so I have been able to enjoy some creative time and we have popped out a few times for coffee and even lunch...bliss.  This retirement lark is ok :-)

For those of you struggling in the heat Peggy says you can come and share her cool mat with her....she loves it.

The only other thing I have to share with you this week is a few funnies.  I hope you find something here to make you smile and you will then leave me a little comment before linking to your own smiles below.

This week's smiles...week 421

Hello all here we are to share our happy smiles from the previous week....and there's been many.

We had the boys last Thursday and while Theo was at school we took Louie to Elsemere Lake to feed the ducks....you can buy a bag full of duck food and there were loads of ducks, geese and even swans there to feed. .....a few too many for little Louie really but he felt safe holding his Grandad's hand.

I was MIA again on Wednesday because we had another long weekend away [to get over the last one with be being poorly].

We went to a really beautiful campsite near York for 4 nights and I have to say it was the best site we have ever been too.  We were given a corner pitch so that there was a huge area of grass for Peggy to play on and the facilities were the best ever....8 huge individual shower rooms each with a 3 foot x 8 foot shower in, a wash basin, a toilet and each also had it's own hair dryer in....and all were spotless.

It was very hot on the first couple of days so we bought a paddling pool for Peggy [and us] to cool off in....she loved it.

The photo in the top left was taken by the man in the next caravan to us who was a photographer and I love it...so much so that it is now my phone screen saver.

We enjoyed the AC in the car and found several nice places to chill out in for nice meals and drinks.

Our garden continues to make us smile including the huge purple poppies at the top that were self seeders.

Of course it wouldn't be a Friday without a few funnies.  I hope you are all well and happy and have a few of your own smiles to share with us by linking them below...all welcome.

Hugs,

This week's smiles....week 419

If you read my Wednesday post you will have seen that our adventure didn't quite go to plan....but we still went.  We had 4 nights on a campsite near GCHQ in Cheltenham.  Whilst it was a lovely clean site the fact that it was under the flight path of the small planes landing at Gloucester airport and by the side of a busy road making it not quite the tranquil site it was meant to be.  My shingles caused me a lot of pain in the side of my head and made sleeping very difficult even when dosed up with Paracetamol and Nurofen.

All that saying we had a lovely few days away together with little Peggy.  We visited a National Trust place at Hidcote....beautiful gardens with walks for Peggy.

All around our campsite there were willow woven animals...these were just a few of them.

Peggy really loves life in the caravan.

When we got home our garden was looking beautiful with lots more blooms everywhere.

The lavenders are in full bloom and smell wonderful too.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Friday without a few funnies...some of these really made us chuckle.
Please leave me a little comment before linking up to your own smiles below.

This week's smiles.....week 415

It's been a wonderful week filled with smiles.  Around a lovely weekend away in our caravan I was busy with sewing....wedding dresses, prom dresses and much much more.

We had our first adventure for 2025 in our caravan.  We had 3 nights on our favourite campsite near Llanidloes....it's like home from home, they make us feel so welcome.  It was Peggy's first time away in the caravan and she took to it like a duck to water.  We were allocated the best pitch on the site parked next to pond [the size of a tennis court] that is now filled with koi carp fish...and some of them are HUGE.

On the bottom left is a photo of another pond on the site where I sat listening to the birds while Peggy was enjoying a run in the enclosed dog run.
I use an app on my phone that recognises birds and while I was sitting there it heard...
  • White wagtail
  • Willow warbler
  • Mallard
  • Swift
  • Pheasant
  • Reed Bunting
  • Chaffinch
  • Redstart
  • Siskin
  • Blackcap
  • Swallow
  • Dunnock
  • Greater Whitethroat
  • Blackbird
  • Goldfinch
  • Robin
  • Chiffchaff
  • Greenfinch and
  • Wren
It was bliss....I really love my birds

I thought you'd like to see a close up my son took of the baby robins in the bird house in our back garden.
They had flown the nest by the time we got home from our weekend away....not a bad thing because if they had landed on the floor I have a feeling Peggy would have killed them if she'd caught them.....aren't they cute?

This is our granddaughter Lexi's latest outfit she is to wear when she performs a Lady Gaga inspired piece at the O2 arena in London...she's such a beautiful girl inside and out and we are so very proud of her.

Of course it wouldn't be a Friday without a few funnies.  I hope you find something here to make you smile and will then leave me a comment before linking to your own smiles below.
Hugs,
Annie x
