This week's smiles....week 364

Hello all. I've certainly had a week filled with smiles this week.....we've been celebrating my darling hubby's 70th birthday and he's been well and truly spoiled.

We enjoyed family time on Saturday evening....and there was cake eaten [as you can see] :-)

I love this photo.

On Monday Louie went with a couple of his friends to a place called Tiny Town, Newport and as you can see he had a wonderful time.....I wonder what he will be when he grows up?

Yesterday he dressed up as a Gruffalo for World book day...he's so different from his big brother who never liked to dress up at the age :-)

He wasn't the only one to dress up for World Book day :-)  Michelle dressed up as a red crayon.....and yes she is a teacher :-)

This was my exciting news of last week.  I can now share with you that she had been for an interview for a new job and she got it.  She will be starting a new full time teaching job at a lovely little school just 10 mins from her home after the Easter holidays.  I'm so very proud of her.

WOYWW....

How is it the song goes?....'the lunatics are taking over the asylum'  :-) :-) :-)

Well that's a little how I'm feeling this morning.  I really do wish my customers would speak to each other and space out my work load.  At the end of yesterday I had piles of customers clothes everywhere waiting to be labelled and hung up on my 'to do' rail.  They had all come at once and I hadn't had time to hang them up between customers!

My 'to do' rail was already pretty full from the 4 customers that had been in the morning but....

.....the back of my chair was piled high with trousers, jumpers and jackets and.....

....I could hardly see my ironing board for the really huge bedspread that I have to alter.

Jo has managed to pick me up some gorgeous coffee coloured material for my next batch of dollies.....but of course these will have to wait for now.  I am doing my best to make them in different skin tones because I feel this important.

I've even had a visit from the Gruffalo who needed the end of his tail and a horn stitching back on.....

..... and a little devil who needed a stitch or two in one of his horns.

In between sewing jobs and in my spare time I'm also sewing beads on Michelle's wedding veil...it has 20 scallops round the edge and in each one I have put a combination of 6 beads like these with a crystal pear drop bead in the middle.  Now all I have to do is sew the other 200 crystal beads all round  :-) :-) :-)

So, you will guess where I will be today. Thank you for dropping in on me and for leaving your lovely comments.  I really do appreciate them.   I will do my best to drop in on as many of you as I can during my coffee breaks but if you don't get a visit from me this week please forgive me.

Hugs,
Annie x

WOYWW....

Hello blogging friends.

Firstly if you haven't put your name down in the blog shop and would like to be in with a chance to win the first of our weekly gifts then please pop over here and leave us a comment saying what you would use the apron for and why you would like it.  Good luck girls.

Now as you know this week is half term for a lot of schools so I'm sure I'm not alone at having extra company this week.  My table has been taken over by my daughter but it's not fun activities for her cos she is the teacher not the pupil and it's book marking that she has taken the table over with.  It's so lovely to have her company  :-)

On my rail is a fun outfit this week.  I've not made it and only had to sew new fastenings on the front but I thought you might like to see the Gruffalo outfit with it's purple spikes on his back.  It's really brilliant and has been very cleverly made.

The other picture I've taken to share with you is one of the beautiful snowdrops I can see from my sewing room window.  The churchyard opposite our house is full of them at the mo and they are all out in full bloom .  How pretty.

Thats all from me today so pop over to Julia's blog and link up with pictures of what you're up to this week showing your creative spaces exposed  :-) .....and don't forget to put your name down over in the blog shop for a chance to win yourself a crafting apron.

Update....I would really like to thank some of my blogging friends who have awarded me with the Stylish blog award.  This is one I have received before so I will have to have a think what I can share with everyone about me that you don't already know but thank you so much to the writers of these fab blogs for thinking of me.....Pams space, It's an Alien Life and Maggie's Crafts.

The Gruffalo....

I was asked for photos of my gruffalo daughter so, with her permission, here is a photo of who will be teaching a class full of 5-7 yr olds today. I am so proud of her for all the effort she puts into everything. There is one very lucky class of kids to have her as their teacher 'cos she was born to teach and is really brilliant at it. [Am I just a little bit biased?....well who wouldn't be?] I have a feeling there is one class of children that will never forget today that's for sure.
I just hope she can get the face paint off later though 'cos it's my birthday today and all our family are off out for a big family meal and I'm not sure they let Gruffalos into the restaurant :-)

What it is to be a Mum.....

My daughter came home from school yesterday with the news that it's 'that' time of year again. It's Book Week and on Friday they all have to go dressed as their favourite book character! Last year it was 'Sponge bob square pants' the year before it was 'Cat in the hat'. This year it just HAD to be 'The Gruffalo'! :-) Well, as you will possibly know by now, I love a challenge so we set to. A brown fur fabric tabard had purple sharp spikes stitched on the back. A hair band was covered with brown felt and had ears and horns stitched to it. A pair of slippers had brown paws stitched on the front with sharp white claws glued on each toe. A pair of black shorts for modesty and a pair of brown tights had to have wrinkly grey knees stitched to the fronts of each leg. Then it was on to the face paints....orange eyes and a purple wart on her nose were drawn on and fangs and teeth will finish the look. Her hair will be back combed for the 'wild look'. Wow she looked perfect.....AND SHE IS THE TEACHER!!
