This week's smiles....week 455

It's been another week of slow progress in our recovery from this awful Winter bug but thankfully my workload has been steady and I have managed to get it all done allowing for R and R each afternoon.

I have a couple of pics to share with you because there is always something that makes me smile....

Although Theo is rather pale faced he's not been too bad in himself having tested positive for Covid this week....just look at the mischief in that face.

Gina has been isolating with Covid this week and I have been having a few on line lessons with her while she has been following U-tube instructions on how to crochet.  We have had lots of giggles while she worked on getting her tension right but I'm so proud to say she has persevered and has mastered the art of crochet....onward and upward from here I feel.  I really love the flowers she has made.  I think the idea is she will crochet some hats and baby booties next so watch this space.  :-)

I'm sharing my pic of the Amaryllis Jo bought me.  It really didn't start off looking very healthy as the leaves came through looking really scabby but just as we were thinking of returning it to the garden centre it decided to send a flower shoot up.  Jo's plant has 2 flower shoots and 9 blooms all looking stunning now but my flower shoot is still reaching for the stars....it's now 28" from the top of the bulb and I'm really hoping it decides to flower before the it reaches the attic.

That's all from me for this week.  I hope you're all managing to stay well and happy and have lots of smiles to share with us this week.

Hugs,

Annie x

  1. Theo is lucky he doesn't look that sick. I feel for Gina, even after having been fully vaccinated. Not sure how much I trust these vaccines, but I sure am not willing to go unvaccinated. Gina is doing a great job with the crochet. Quite good for only face time instructions. You are a good teacher and she is a good student. That is one TALL amaryllis. It is beautiful, I can't believe how green it is in your world. Have a great rest of Friday and a great weekend, Annie.

  2. Oh wow Annie, I've never seen such a tall Amaryllis flower shoot, I wonder if it needs more light. Pleased to see Theo looking okay now, it's a worrying virus as some people seem hardly ill at all while others are really poorly. I'm off to walk dogs now though they don't seem keen as it's very cold and frosty out there today then hairdressers for me so I'll be back later to see everyone else. Hugs, Angela xXx

  3. That amaryllis shoot really made me smile! I have never seen anything like it! It has a bud, so it will eventually flower... but whether that will be before or in the attic is anyone's guess.
Theo does not look ill. Those tests are not very reliable I have been told. So perhaps he just has a cold or flu symptoms. Who knows. It's good to know he's not seriously ill.
I am impressed with Gina's crochet skills after a few online lessons. You are a very good teacher if this is the result. Well done you (and well done Gina too of course).
    Have a good weekend rest.
    Keep smiling,
    Hugs,

  4. I am glad you are slowly recovering from your bug. What a shame that Theo now has to isolate after just one term of school. I hope Gina is recovering now. My grand daughter who is also pregnant, had Covid too just at Christmas. It is quite worrying for them.
Well done to Gina for mastering her crochet., and to Theo for giving it a go. I just love the blanket you are making. I saw it in your Wednesday post. The colours are beautiful. Are you following a pattern or winging it as you go? Either way it will be a lovely, colourful blanket for the baby.
Your amaryllis made me smile. I had one like that once, but it did eventually flower and I am sure yours will too.
It is good that you are allowing some R&R time in the afternoons. Kate xx
