Hello all. What a week it's been here at Sewing by Annie's. I will try to update you quickly in pics ...
Whilst I was doing the free machine embroidery on my Christmas cards last Wednesday my Janome packed in [It was an electronic error so was pretty terminal sadly...I'd had it a long time and used it lots so it owed me nothing]....doesn't it always happen when your busy? As I have two other clever machines I only needed one for basic sewing [and for use by the Grandchildren of course] so we ordered a new one and hey presto! this little beauty arrived Thursday morning at 8.30....brilliant service eh?
Shell dropped by with Sam with some Harry Potter fat quarters with a request for a length of 15 flag bunting for Sam's bedroom so I ran this up in my spare time [what spare time I hear you say lol].
The first of my Memory bears from this week was made in Memory of a much loved mum using 3 of her favourites tops.
Sadly the parcel that was coming from Swansea still hasn't arrived. It will just be a dressing gown to the post office but meant so much more to my customer so I'm really sad to think that it has got lost in the post.
UPDATE...The parcel arrived at 7.30 last night :-) :-)
The next batch of Memory bears I've made this week were made in memory of a Dad that died too soon and was made from his dressing gown....I really hope it brings lots of comfort to his family.
My desk today looks like this.....It's rather more like a sweat shop this week with two huge bin bags full of factory white trousers needing new zips. I've got 50 in total and I'm making my way through them steadily.
On top of all that I have also...
- Shortened 2 pair of trousers
- Let out the waist and seat on 5 pair of trousers
- Shortened 2 nurses dresses and
- Shortened a post frock
It might surprise you to know that I have done all the machine embroidery on my Christmas cards but they wont get the finishing touches done any time soon. It really has been a cracking week and although it's all or nothing here I love to be kept busy so am more than happy to take the work when I can get it. I have 4 gents trousers arriving needing shortening today and have a bridesmaid's dress booked in for a fitting so there will be little time for getting up to any mischief.
Hope you're all well and happy and I promise I will do my best to call by to see what you've been up to this week in between my sewing jobs.
Hugs,
Annie x
wow, what a busy week you've had! the Memory Bears are beautiful, but how sad that the parcel you were waiting for seems to have got lost in transit...
ReplyDeleteSam's bunting looks fab.
Happy WOYWW take care. Helen #2
Wo-you have been a busy stitcher this week! Recognise the HP fabric as I made Leanne’s quilt from the very same fabric. Great service in getting your new machine so happy sewing.💕
ReplyDeleteNo need to ask if you’re back up to speed health wise Annie, your blog speaks for you.
ReplyDeleteI’m chuckling here. Well done missus, you are like a whirling dervish

Like the new machine! It looks like the updated version of mine, nothing computerised, just a good sturdy workhorse, which given the amount of sewing you do, is a necessity. May it run smoothly for miles and miles, lol! Love the bunting, it’s great fabric but I don’t envy you the 50 zips, you’ll be seeing them in your sleep :-D

Wow what a lot going on - I'm glad you are back up to full power now! The memory bears are beautiful and I'm so glad the parcel arrived at last - what a relief for the customer. The bunting is fabulous - what great fabric. I've never mastered zips, fiddly things that never end up straight or lying flat so I don't envy you having to do 50 of them, although I'm sure it will be a breeze for you!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,

Well Annie, it’s been quite the week for machine failures. Glad your new one arrived quickly. And oh, that parcel from Swansea. So glad it arrived ok, finally. We understand the emotional significance because we see your glorious memories bears but you’re right, the post office would just think old dressing gown.
ReplyDeleteYour Harry Potter bunting is lovely too.
I wonder about you rushing about so much do soon after being ill.
Do take care of yourself and happy WOYWW
Hugs

Zips in all those trousers put me off right away. Good job it was at the end of your post. What a job!
ReplyDeleteThat said all the other sewing is lovely, especially the HP bunting.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx
Busy, busy, busy... pleased that the orders are coming in - needs must eh? Not sure that looks like a basic machine to me, still seems to have enough buttons and options to fry my brain. Yes, things do always let you down when you are busy!! Have a lovely week, love n hugs Cindy xx #14
ReplyDeleteI can see you are extremely busy! All those zips would be a nightmare for me! I am sure you take it all in your stride. Happy WOYWW Angela #7
ReplyDeleteThe new machine looks good and not too complicated. It's only a few years ago that my old Singer gave up the ghost, I'm not saying how old it was but my parents bought it for me while I was still at school. I have other machines but decided to replace the Singer with a Janome and I love it. Loving the bunting, it's going to look great in Sam's room. Your sewing jobs are definitely building up at the moment! Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x15x
ReplyDeleteI simply do not believe that being busy would keep you from mischief. Not likely! The dressing gowns arrival has made my heart warm, am very glad, those bears look so handsome in their paisley fur!! Super service on the machine, is it like having a new one that does more stuff but is top still familiar enough to use without too much trouble…I dead to think thst you might have to read a manual, makes me shudder.!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit. I'm hurrying alone, we were invited out for Casino night and cold/wind is not keeping us home ! Your photos are always fun. Glad you were able to get a new machine, here you don't know if inventory is available or not. Sitting on ships along our coasts, as no one wants to unload them.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Enjoy everything that comes your way.
What a week Annie - well done on all fronts - I will enjoy having a peek at that new machine. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Annie, you are sooo busy! Love the Harry Potter bunting! And of course all the teddy's are brilliant! (Trouser zips, not so much!) And a lovely new machine too! Keep Crafting! Stay safe. Happy late woyww ((Lyn))#19
