Hello all and Happy Wednesday to you. It's my favourite day of the week when we blog hop around our creative friends around the works. We expose our desks and share what we've been doing on them each week. If you'd like to join in the fun [you will really love it] then just pop over to Julia's at The Stamping ground and check out the details. We will all be meeting up too on 1st June so why not check out where and join us for a fun day....here's the details. My much older sister and I are hosting the crop this year and it should be a fun day of celebrating 10 years of friendship.
So you've here to check out my desk aren't you? It's been school holidays here this week so it's been a quiet week with few customers so I've been using my time wisely....
A lot of you have exploding boxes of paper scraps, well, here for me it was an overflowing box of fabric scraps and the funny thing was a lot of them I'd been given by one of my customers [so they weren't even my scraps!] and lots of them weren't big enough to even be usable! So I've given my box the 'Jan treatment'. I've thrown out all that's unusable and folded all that is.....
....my box now looks like this cos all this is here....
....a bin bag filled with scraps. How did all that fit in that box?
Of course I had now got the sorting and tidying bug by this stage so.....
Out came all my fat quarters and I've sorted them into colours....much easier to use them like this and the colours are so inspiring.
Now doesn't that look better? And now I need a few projects to use some of it [If I can bring myself to cut into it all!].
I have managed to find a couple of hard backed books that I rather fancy making crazy patchwork covers for....what do you think?
That's all from me for this week. If you leave me a little message I will do my best to pay you a return visit to see what you've been up to this week.
Hugs,
Annie x

Oh I can't bear to throw out even the smallest scraps. But that's because I use it for collage and not sewing!!! :^) Happy WOYWW! patsy
ReplyDeleteAnnie what ever you do you always seem so organised, you made good of that exploding fabric box. Those hardback books will do the job perfect for those patchwork covers, I love making covers for books. Have fun, I know you will & Happy WoywW Tracey #5
ReplyDeleteYou only tidied to show me up. Does the sight of my desk give you the vapours this morning!! It did me. So I’m going back upstairs to do ironing sorting and bedroom patrol after a weeekend of people. Easier! The notebooks are pretty anyway, somwith fabric covers a well, they’ll be very erm, covetable!
ReplyDeleteHello Annie. I seem to be on a never ending mission of sorting and tidying. I must be a very untidy person lol
ReplyDeleteI do keep stuff - ' it might be useful one' think it goes back to my teaching days. I am trying very hard to get rid of stuff! Have huge stack of stuff for Charity Shop. See you soon!

Boy you have been busy! You definitely put me to shame with all your organizing. Things are a mess here and I try to convince myself if I clean up, I'll lose something! Lol...

Not being one for sparkle I think those covers are crying out for an Annie make-over. Do delve into those tiny scraps and make something for us to drool over.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your "take out, stroke and put back" time with all those gorgeous fabrics.
Am getting excited about the Crop - not long to go now and I can just imagine how it must be when you and Jo get together. Super exciting times!
Hugs, Neet 18 xx
Looks like you certainly have used the holiday lull to get organised Annie. Those notebooks are crying out for patchwork covers, maybe out of the scrap bag lol? Happy WOYWW and looking forward to the crop.

Wow, how organised is that, Annie! Great work. What you've ended up with is an absolute feast. You will have such fun with that lot! Love the new books and look forward to seeing the crazy patchwork covers.

Hi Annie, nothing like a good sort out! Great idea with the books, I'm sure they'll be popular. I've had a couple of nasty moments with spiders on clothes too! See you soon, looking forward to the crop a lot. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit, Annie, and for your kind remarks about my poor tooth! It's a horrible experience, isn't it... The nurse was so sweet - she held my hand, and then got a tissue and dried my tears for me!! Today, I'm amazed how it's already settling down. I forgot to take my lunch-time pain relief and by mid-p.m. still don't need it. I'm doing the salt water mouth washes and eating soft food and I'm sure it will be fine by the weekend. So glad you like my little flowers, and no, the bullion knot one is top row, 3rd from right. They look a bit like spider's legs - or even like the crooked root on my extracted wisdom tooth lol!!!

Wow, you did well!! The thing is you can see everything you've got now and you'll never use those teeny tiny scraps...love the fat q storage too. That makes me happy - me? OCD? Lol. And you're welcome if you ever want to visit again! Look forward to seeing you soon.

That looks so much better and the colours and textures are lovely and tempting. I am so looking forward to meeting you and Jo at the crop. Thanks for sharing. Happy WOYWW and have a great week, with love and God Bless, Caro x (#20)
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, my organising has come to a halt over the Easter break so I lift my hat to you - you've done a great job! However, I'm anticipating getting stuck in again when the weather turns cooler this weekend. I think your idea to cover the notebooks in crazy patchwork is great. Have a fabulous week. Hugs, Ellie X #31
ReplyDeleteI have been doing a similar job with oddments of paper and card that I know I will never use. I did get rid of most of my bits of material some time ago. Meanwhile, I am really looking forward to the Crop so very soon. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter) #26
ReplyDeleteYou can come over to my place and tidy too Annie 😊 love your scrap clean up, hope you put it out for clean rags at Op shop. Not sure what you call them but charity shops like clean rags.
