We will remember them...

I am hoping that today I will be visiting the poppies at the Tower of London with that very special hubby of mine so am uploading this to show you what we will be proudly wearing while we are there.  We have bought the usual poppies but I wanted something special to pin on my coat for our special visit.  Most of you will know that I have lots of stash that I am unable to use and spend time stroking the special bits, well these buttons are two of those special items.  They are antique black jet buttons and have been saved for a special make....aren't they gorgeous? I crochet the poppies to my own design too....hope you like them.

  2. Your personal poppies are beautiful,as is the weather here today! Hope you have a special day, and don't get too crushed in the crowds; but it will be worth the queuing.

  3. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful, memorable, trip. Your special poppies are just so lovely.
I watched the cenotaph service today and it was so moving. Jonathan Dimbleby really coloured it with all the individual stories of our heroes.WE shed many a tear seeing all the proud veterans and also for the members of our own family who were involved in various conflicts, especially DH's grandfather who fell in WW1 and whose grave we have visited in Ypres.
We will never forget and must help the next generations to remember.

  4. Love your poppies Annie and what a lovely way to use your special buttons! I am sure you will love your trip to see the poppies at the Tower, the photos I have seen have been fantastic and to see them in reality would be wonderful and very emotional.

  8. I hope you were able to go and had a wonderful time. I would have LOVED to have gone, but I saw Helen's photos, so that helped. I also saw a TV special about the poppies and I saw the moat in an overhead shot. That was unbelievable.

Your poppies are simply GORGEOUS. Those buttons really set the crochet off. Lovely all round and a great way to celebrate Remembrance Day.

  11. Hi Annie,

Lovely poppies. I saw the wonderful memorial on t.v. this past week. It's quite a site, a field of poppies. To think each one represents someone is real moving.

    Thanks for the visit!!

    Hugs,
    Kay
