We had such a wonderful time in London over the weekend and were both totally blown away by the amazing poppies at the Tower of London that I felt the need to share. I know many of you have already been to see them but I also know many who are unable to go so here's my pics specially for you.
Please feel free to click on the pics to enlarge them....they are well worth a closer look.
We had tickets to the Tower too and here's a few pics of inside for you.
This was my favourite photo that I took....the sky was blue, the numbers of poppies are mind blowing and these ones seem to be reaching out to us.
We will remember them.
What beautiful weather you had...glorious pics :-)

Fabulous photos of the Tower Poppies Annie, and the weather looks like it stayed good too with those wonderful blue skies. So glad you enjoyed the trip, wonderful and emotional too. Annette
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Annie. And you had such a lovely day for your trip. They wouldn´t have been quite so impressive under grey skies, though some critics say they are too pretty for what they symbolise. I know, if I had been in UK, I would have made sure I got to see them. My son was over there from Denmark a week ago and he saw them from a distance, but didn´t have time to queue for a closer look, but he was very moved by it. Thanks for sharing your photos. Kate x
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photos of a wonderful day for you. Thanks for sharing your experience with those of us who could not get there. What a special memory!
ReplyDeleteIt is overwhelming to see your post and it must have been even mind-blowing for you to be there in person on such a poignant day.

I was quite impressed with the photos you took. I am still not quite sure of the significance of that arc, but I read the PM wants to save it and put it, and the one at the window, on permanent display. I know it seems like I don't know what I'm talking about, but I'm sure you know the two areas I'm referring to.
ReplyDeleteI enlarged and looked and looked. I was SURE I would find someone sipping on a bottle of water. Maybe drinks weren't allowed, or maybe the bottled water craze isn't as strong in Britain as it is here in the US. Regardless, I'm delighted you shared these with us for T this Tuesday. BTW, my tribute will be up at 11 am CST (or 5 pm your time) today.
Hello and Happy T Day! The pictures are gorgeous. Lovely art and sky too. thank you for sharing and have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI am green with envy about your visit, but thanks for the photos. Over here in Australia, we are just starting to make poppies for next anzac day, when a display of handmade ones made by people all around the country, like your brooches in the previous post, is planned
ReplyDeleteAren't they absolutely beautiful and incredibly symbolic! They really touched my heart when I saw then in real life too Annie. When I went it had just rained and the sky was blue and they just shone! xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm dropping in from Elizabeth's place. I enjoyed seeing your photos of the poppies in London. I think the whole idea is so amazing. I also like the poppies you created out of your "special bits" and showed in the previous post. Very special.

You were so lucky to get inside the Tower. The day we went the queue was several hours long and as we had had a drama getting there due to the tubes being stopped on the District line we had no chance of knowing what time we could be home.
ReplyDeleteYour weather was also much nicer. Your photos are fabulous.
I and Mr Hettie are so glad we went. Such an awesome sight and wonderful atmosphere around the Tower.

Really great photos! Seeing all those glorious poppies and the remembering what they represent is sad and beautiful at the same time. Thank you for sharing, and happy T day!
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous collection of poppy images from London. What an amazing sight it must have been.
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day!
Those poppies are so beautiful, and heartbreaking at the same time. The visual impact is stunning, and really helps to bring home the sacrifice of so many. Hard for those of us to fathom who didn't live through those terrible times. gorgeous photos dear...and wonderful post. had to wonder about the monkeys on the wall, though. sculptures, I guess? :)
ReplyDeleteHappy T Tuesday, and remembrance!
What stunning photos, Annie, thanks for sharing them. I would've loved to have seen this. You were certainly lucky with the weather.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful and powerful images with us!
ReplyDeleteThe poppies were featured on our evening news here in the Washington DC area and the aerial views were breathtaking and so moving.
Your favorite photo would have made a perfect addition to the news report.
Happy T Day

ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Love that last one especially.
ReplyDeleteHappy T- Day! :)
Glad you enjoyed it, and the blue skies made your trip perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos-how I wish we could have gone! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteLovely, and many thanks for the share. I am so glad you and Dave had a weekend away, think after all the stress of the pre-move and then the move itself (which you enjoyed I know) you two needed a weekend of stress free time.
