A Mary Christmas.....or is it???

As most of you will know I won the Knitivity book from Carmen's draw and you will all know that I have been desperate to get going on making the characters.

Well!  I started yesterday with Mary....well I thought that was what I was knitting!!!
I thought you might like a few snaps of the stages of knitting one of these characters so you will understand what I mean :-)

These are all the body pieces for the characters.  I sent this pic via text to Twiglet and she said it looked like I was knitting a parsnip!  That is until I stitched them together.........

Hmmmm.  Now Carmen what exactly have you got me knitting?  All I can say is I've never seen one with little feet before.  :-)

Sorry the pic was a little dark but I'm sure you can see that my phallic symbol now has a face and arms....and yes I have checked the pattern and have knitted just as instructed.  Now I have to knit it a dress!  :-)

I said a dress....  Not wings!  OK I will continue knitting......

There....that's better.  I'm sure she will look better in the stable.  Now all I have to do is think of a title for this blog ....believe me I have had many suggestions.   :-)

  1. Well worth the effort, I think she is very matronly.
In fact more "matron" than "madonna"!

  8. Knitted parsnips ! I still have a few leeks out in the snow - could you do them some hats & scarves please ? !

Mary looks like a no nonsence type of girl - like a nurse, any funny business on her ward with that thingy & they would be severely repremanded !
    Great fun xx

  12. Hahahaha that didn't look anything like a Mary in the beginning stages! We have spent 2 weeks training out Joseph (in the Christmas play) how to hold a baby correctly. I have had a giggle with his mum. He started holding it upside down.......then he was poking the eyes out, then he was holding it by the head and then today I think he is finally mastering the art of holding a baby!! I sent him with a little funny note home asking if he could practise with his teddy bears! xxxxx

  15. I love her feet! although it looks like she might have to waddle along a bit if she fancies a walk. Did you ever see the knitted Daleks I did - there's a post somewhere on my blog - that was my greatest knitting challenge ever! Not so seasonally appropriate though.
Thanks so much for your comment on my last post - it is all very grim at the moment - spent 7 hours today at the house and managed to unearth some kitchen worksurface and scrub it clean with a brillo pad, but it's all a bit disheartening and impossible at the moment. Friendships mean a lot though so thank you for yours xx

  16. Perhaps you could have borrowed the title from Rolf Harris - 'Can you see what it is yet?'

Look forward to seeing the other characters!
