Basically.....very little today. This week the road outside our house has been closed from 9 am to 4.30 pm so I have had virtually no customers. They have been strengthening the bridge in the village since February and this week are resurfacing the road between the two traffic islands and our house is right in the middle of it all! Chaos has reigned but hopefully it will all be finished very soon. I'm guessing that the customers who can't reach me this week will all come next week so am enjoying a bit of me time. Yesterday I showed you the crocheted flowers I have been making and today I'm showing you the teddy I am hand dumfing and the sewing I am doing for me...
This is the wool roving I am using for my latest teddy. It's some I bought at Woolfest, Builthwells and is a really lovely blackberry colour. [The picture doesn't really do it justice cos it's rather shiny.]
I have also made two tops for me this week and have material to make 3 more. As you can see I don't waste my time when I have a break in customers :-) They both have pin tucks on the front and the lighter blue one has been machine embroidered too.
I hope you will now pop over to Julia's blog and join in the fun by showing us what's happening in your world today.
You've been busy with your enforced me time, hope the bridge gets sorted soon!
ReplyDeleteNow that dress is finished, I will make one of your tops if you suddenly have a work overload!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of that Batik fabric. very nice - it almost looks like dragonflies although I think it is really vines, maybe? No matter it's just pretty anyways.

Hi
ReplyDeletehope you get some customers back soon, beautiful tops, i cant sew for toffee, have good day, sue,x
Just as I was reading about the road I wondered if you'd invest in some down time - I'm so glad you have! Pretty tops, fabrics are gorgeous. Miss D and I are off to Salisbury this morning to look for fabric (for the next costume) and I've decided on a couple homemade tops..but they won't be pintucked or embroidered!! Are you missing Ernest?
ReplyDeleteThat's a fabulous color of wool! Ahh, I really need to get back into sewing, I really do miss it!
ReplyDeleteAll your creation for this week are so lovely....glad to see you are getting lots done for you.
ReplyDeleteKS

ReplyDeleteTwo fab tops Annie. Love the colour of the wool roving. More lovely fabric waiting to be transformed :-) Oh yes sounds like you better get as much me time in as you can 'cos I'm sure all the customers will be tramping over that bridge asap - I've got visions of hoards of people standing the other side of the bridge waiting for it to be opened hehehe
ReplyDeleteoh wow great work space, love your work too very creative, hugs cheryl xxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful tops....just cant wait to see Teddy...the colour does look wonderful.

I can't believe how much you've managed to get done and everything looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteLOL at you Annie. I read about Ernest and got totally lost in the plot! *Ü* Then I read your WOYWW for today and love that you are doing more dumfing. I think it is soo creative. Be prepared for lots of customers next week! TFS. ~Glen~
ReplyDeleteMake the most of your me time as I'm sure it wont' last. Love your crocheted flowers.
ReplyDeletexx
Fabulous colour wool - enjoy the me time and I hope you have plenty of customers next week to make up for this week!
ReplyDeleteOh, i so love that wool, gorgeous colour, makes me want to knit, which i would do if i could, i know how to cast on and knit in one stitch, have no idea how to cast off though - and.....i tried to have a go at crocheting (following a youtube video) just couldn't get the hang of it. Btw I have a wedding dress that needs altering, i just need some bits taken off the shoulder strap, but it looks complicated, can i just call in and leave it with you at some point? Have been looking at yours and twiglets shop...such gorgeous yummy things. Perhaps i'll pop over on my next day off (if your cheese is in date that is!!!!! Ha!!) take care, enjoy your day xxxxxxx
ReplyDeletewow you are so clever, I think i would be tempted to just have a break when there are no customers. Hope you aren't drowning in work next week.x
ReplyDeleteGlad you got some me time this week. It's probably best that your road was closed instead of customers falling through a bridge. In the last photo, is that top fabric hand dyed or overdyed? Maybe it's the lighting. Regardless, I love the colors.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented - I love the look of that embroidered top.
ReplyDeleteI have resisted unhanding Mr Tumble so far (not without much sulking first on my part I might add *g*) have been telling EVERYONE to come see your blog though :P
Love the fabric and the tops are great. Can't seem to get back into sewing yet. Got a pattern for a bag but haven't spotted just the right fabric and also made a decision to PAY someone to make some huge curtains for me as just can't cope with the weight any more-frustrating but realistic I'm afraid. Thanks for you kind comments. Hugs BettyXXX
ReplyDeleteNice work there, your sewing looks very expert, no wonder you run your own business.
ReplyDeleteNice tops you have been busy. Love the crochet flowers I wanted a red broch so bought some wool to crochet one but after the 50th attempt I gave up, I haven't crocheted since I was in my teens (long time ago) Pam x
ReplyDeleteYou are just sooooo clever ... I once made an apron ... but it kind of fell apart after one use :0) Hope you get something positive from your enforced break!
ReplyDeleteenjoy your free time. Love the fabrics you are using.
ReplyDeleteThose crochet flowers are beautiful.
xxx
Lovely pieces of fabric - sometimes is great to have "you" time - SO ENJOY! ikki
ReplyDeleteThey are re-inforcing a bridge near us too....why do they always take so long to fix and why do they always close the road at inopportune times?
ReplyDeleteLove the material you are working with, great colours :0)
*hugs* Heather x

ReplyDeleteAnnie the wool looks so beautiful, even if the photo doesn't do it justice! I have top envy! Never learnt to sew properly, don't have any talent in that direction at all! Enjoy the peace and quiet, as you say, they'll be beating your door down next week.

Wow! Ya know, everytime I drop by your site I get so inspired to sew. Thank goodness I get over it!!!! Sewing/knitting etc makes me a crazy mess! I unfortunately did not inherit my sainted mother's sewing ability! I'll be satisfied to watch all your amazing creations come about!
ReplyDeleteHugs!

P.S. Now, I really could use those cute crocheted flowers on my cards! xo
Love the colour of that wool and hope we get to see the teddy when it's made.
ReplyDeleteI hope life returns to normal for you very soon.
Loved reading back about Ernest's antics. I hope he didn't suffer too long after the hen party. Seeing him with his head in the bucket really made me laugh.

ReplyDelete** Kate **
sorry!! I think I missed you yesterday! I'm remembering last year, waiting for a plane that would be stuck on the tarmac for hours!! over 19 men in hard hats all doing nothing but watch one tiny guy trying to shut these doors on the plane (can't fly with them open) I started talking out loud at what they all were saying, made a few people giggle cos it somehow fitted!! Lovely stuff on your desk, hope you're well!
ReplyDelete((Lyn)
