Having had very little sewing in from customers for several weeks I put a special offer over on my Facebook page and then decided I would find something creative to do while I was waiting for work to come in.
I pulled out my Christmas box and found 5 Advent calendars that I had in my stock of 'to do' projects. As most of you will know, I have made an Advent calendar for each of my Grandchildren and know the pleasure each of them has when they get them out each year and have the little pockets filled with special treats. I know many folk cant sew so I decided I would make these 5 Advent calendars to see if anyone would buy them...at the very least I am keeping busy and enjoying being creative. They take ages to make and I've wadded and backed each one so I'm rather pleased with how each one is turning out.....
This was the first one I've finished...I've added tabs at the top so they can either just be pinned up or have a wooden stick put through the loops to hang it up by.
This is the second I've finished. This one was rather more complicated to make because lots of the pockets are made box style so are rather fiddly to do....but I rather like how it's turned out.
Sounds like you will be kept busy this week Annie. Love the Advent calendars. Hope all goes well with the memory bears. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
ReplyDeleteGlad you are going to be busy making bears and well done on making up the Advent Calendars. I’ve made the angel one a few time, sometimes with a dark blue background, and it’s always a favourite although making all the wee pockets is a bit fiddly. I’ve bought a new one for this year where the whole thing is folded and then sewn-must get round to it soon. Enjoy your crafting day with the girls-I’m missing all my crafty workshops. Looks like we’re going into Tier 4 ie lockdown in Lanarkshire so no motorhoming for us any time soon. Hope you are both well. Keeeep sewing!
ReplyDeleteThe Advent calendars are lovely, perfect for a little one somewhere. Glad that you’ve had a few more bear orders in too, nice to be kept busy. Have fun with the GDs tomorrow, I’d rather be crafting than watching footie too, lol!!

It’s a much better thing for the girls in my opinion, a cold muddy touch line or an afternoon with you...no contest! Hope you have a lot of fun. Love the advent calendar idea, that Angel is so sweet. And good for you for filling your time, I would find myself faffing......well, faffing more!
ReplyDeleteWow, these look fabulous Annie! So unique and I can imagine how much work goes into them. Have you thought of selling through Not on the High Street? That's just the kind of things they sell and I'm sure you would get a very good price for them as well reflecting the amount of work and material that goes into them. Your grandkids are so lucky to have such a crafty grandma! Have a lovely week! xx zsuzsa #9
ReplyDeleteThe calendars look fab Annie. I might pm you about the angel one. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Annie. Happy belated birthday!! Lovely gifts and flowers. What precious gifts those lavender bags are! Hope you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteLove the Advent Calendars. I have a couple I made, and one made by a daughter for me - but I do try to only use one each year... maybe this is the year to get them all out?? Enjoy making the others - when you have a moment between shortening and bears...
Attingham Park is lovely - I went there with a friend last year when in your beautiful county.
Take care. God bless.

ReplyDeleteThe calendars are turning out beautiful! You should say how much they will cost to purchase. I'm glad more work came flooding in for you ~ Happy sewing! Love, Karen#22
ReplyDeleteOh WOW to the advent calendars - especially the second one. The ones waiting to be sewn look very nice too - very Christmassy with the colours.
ReplyDeleteGlad your advert brought in some work for you.

Your advent calendars are wonderful, I really love the first one, the colours are really subtle. I made one years ago, I can't remember if it's in one of my Christmas decoration boxes or whether I gave it to my youngest grandchild... when December arrives I may find out!
ReplyDeleteTake care and stay safe

Absolutely love the second Advent Calendar! Glad the work is coming in, I guess a mixed blessing sometimes. I spent a lot of time reading yesterday - Warrior Cats, the last book, oh it was good! Have a great week Angela #26
ReplyDeleteGosh - what a productive week for you! The advent calendars look fab!
ReplyDeleteYour advent calendars are simply gorgeous, Annie. I would love to have had something like this when I was little - we used to have the standard paper ones, and nowadays they are so much more imaginative. You have put a lot of work into them. I'm glad you are still making memory bears too - I love the idea of those!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,
