WOYWW.....

Oh wow what a busy week I had last week.  Firstly I must apologies to those bloggers I didn't get round to visit.  There just wasn't enough hours in my days.  I had everything from Wedding dresses, Bridesmaids dresses and Evening dresses to trousers, shirts and many special requests from special customers, family and friends.

I have a few photos to share with you of my desk at different stages....

One of my requests from one of my special customers was for a pocketed hanging storage....it had to be 30x60cm with two button holes at the top 20cm apart.  It had to have a zipped pocket at the top then three rows of pockets of different sizes going down the length and the pockets were pretty specific to include a pen pocket in the top row.....he didn't want much did he? So I set to working out all the measurements required and here I am mid flow.

Here it is finished....it was quite a challenge but I'm rather pleased with how it turned out for him.

Another of my requests was from some special little people in my life for clothes making for their Barbie and Ken dolls so I've been hunting out and printing off some simple patterns....I'm hoping they will be coming to help me make them too so I'm really looking forward to that.

The other pic I'm sharing today is this one to make you laugh.  You've heard the saying...'If it looks too good to be true then it probably is' haven't you?
I ordered some new tape measures off eBay for another little project I had in mind and these were.... 'a pack of 5 fabric superior tailoring tape measures' for just 80p!
Firstly they aren't fabric but are a very cheap plastic and I've laid one against the tape measure I use every day just to show you just how 'accurate' [or lack of it] they are.  Each inch is more than 1 1/4" in length!!  Needless to say I have now had my money back and wont be using them for the project I had in mind.....but it did make me giggle.

That's all from me for today.  I will be head down ploughing my way through my sewing mountain but will do my best to pop over to say hello in between jobs as and when I can.
Hugs,
Annie x

  3. Oh, I'll take the bottome tape measure any day - means I'd measure less in inches!! Lol. I snorted at Twiglet's comment, she's so naughty :-D. That's a great hanging storage project - it would have broken my head trying to figure that lot out!

  8. How funny those tape measures are - were! Imagine using one of those - great if you want to slim as you can say you are a size or two smaller using one of those. Maybe they belong to one of the Slimming Giant companies.
Love the pockets you made - and look forward to seeing the wee clothes, modelled of course.
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet 13 xx

  11. Oh the measure made me grin...I've had so much luck with buying from Chinese eBay shops that I'm just waiting for this sort of thing to happen1 How funny....you could use them and develop a whole new measuring system!!
Very impresssed by the storage, particularly how very precise the customer was about the requirements...!

  12. Hi Annie, the tape measure did make me gasp! Glad you got your money back. You did well to interpret your customer's wants list - the hanger is a fab make. I'm just wondering where he is going to hang it. I'm totally in awe of you learning to make lace when your children were tots. I would think that needs even more concentration than my crochet work. I gave up embroidery then too but did manage to knit when the children were little. It's funny, but now I have time aplenty and yet I'm not anywhere near as industrious as I was back then. Hope you have managed to reduce your sewing mountain by now and that you're day has been a good one so far. Have a great week ahead. Hugs, Ellie, x #28

  17. The measuring tape "scam" - luckily you had one to compare it with! I feel bad for the person who buys it and it's their first one! Goes top show how careful we need to be these days. Your pocket storage looks great! I used to make doll clothes for my Barbie and Ken too, hopefully the kids will show up and help! Have a great week, thanks for sharing, Lindart #35

  20. A very superior tape measure indeed - I suppose it would be useful if you had gained weight - your waist measurement would stay the same as before!! Great work with the hanging storage thingy - sounds like the customer really knew what he wanted!
