Many of you last week asked how the craft fair had actually gone and did I sell out....We all had a lovely day but footfall was really poor and I brought home almost all I took with me. I made enough to cover the cost of my table and a little extra and was able to hand out lots of my fliers so got the word out locally to a few more potential customers where to find me so all was not lost. Because of this my Mojo has gone on holiday.....and until he returns I guess I will have little to show you.
I have made a lovely pair of Memory Bears this week....
They are in memory of a much loved mum and dad. The clothing used to make the bears held special memories, plus Mummy bear has a bow made from one of her favourite scarves and Daddy bear has his own little tie out of his favourite tie. The results caused a few emotional moments and I was given a big hug so I feel it was a job well done.....they are rather cute aren't they?
Apart from that I have a few more new fat quarters to show you....I couldn't resist.
So, that's all I have to share with you today. Life has thrown us a few challenges this week so I will be stroking my new fabrics while I'm waiting for Mr Mojo to return from his holidays and I hope I have more exciting projects to share with you soon.

Morning Annie. I'm so sorry your craft table didn't do any better - and that in fact, the whole craft fair was poorly attended. Any particular reason, do you think? I know I would have come down if the time had been different - to get to you for 10am would have been a push no matter which day it was on, I must admit. Sad though, after all your hard work.

Hey Annie don't be disheartened my friend. I'm sorry it didn't go well. I came to the conclusion some years ago that fairs require the maker to do far much more work than they get reward. I is good fun especially when you get a sale but it's blumming hard work. I bet you will soon be buzzing with new ideas before long my friend

ReplyDeleteLynn said pretty much what I was going to say. Maybe if the weather hadn't been so lovely more people would have come. To be honest, that's one of the main reasons I gave up doing craft fairs, al that work. But enough doom and gloom, you'll be fine. Have some time off and then one day, another idea will hit you and you'll be off gain. It's just a temporary blip...

Hi Annie, so sorry your craft fair wasn't well attended but hopefully those fliers will bear fruit. I can quite understand the reaction those bears caused - they must bring so many good memories with them. Lovely fat quarters - great colours and tiny patterns - and what a fabulous collection of sewing threads. I'm sure they will be well used in no time at all given the amount of sewing you do. Hopefully, those challenges life has thrown you will resolve themselves, your mojo will return and if it doesn't it's Easter - enjoy the holiday and forget work for a wee while. Hugs, Elizabeth x #27

ReplyDeleteCraft fairs, in my experience, are very hit or miss. I gave up on them when I was making and selling jewellery years ago. Your bears are so lovely and I can imagine just how much they will mean to their owners.

So sorry for your poor craft sales, sometimes we have it here in Holland too. Many people coming by and looking and talking, but not much sales.

ReplyDeleteThe craft fair investment is such a difficult one isn't it, and even when footfall is low, its so hard not to take it personally, which is ridiculous isn't it! now though, you have stock for later without stress and you 'exposed' your business for very very much less than printed advertising costs. As for your mojo.....be kind to yourself and it will bounce back. Prolly needs a holiday, you really work it hard!!

does fabric go bad? I found a box of fabric from a long long long time ago in the garage and while it looks okay I didn't know if it weakens or goes bad...Don't know what I planned to make with it but will try and find a use if nothing more then giving it away. Love the bears and that poor baby's face in the other post is one of utter concern isn't it. Hope the best friend stays around for a long time. Have a happy holiday and I great week. Vickie #38
