Happy Wednesday folks. Here we are at yet another middle of the week sort of day when we all expose our creative spaces to the world and share our mess, muddle, clutter, work desk with our blogging friends.
Firstly I thought you might like to see what I did with the toilet foam seat pads I had on my desk last week....
I was given a new curtain by one of my customers a couple of years ago and it has been sitting in my fabric stash since then waiting for the right job for it. As it was a lined curtain I used the lining to make a simple pad cover for each of the foam pads first....if anyone has ever tried to get a foam pad in a cushion cover you will know just how hard it is so I thought it was a good idea to make a basic pad cover so the pad would slip in easier......they work a treat too :-)
The curtain was made of a striped canvasy sort of material with a yellow stripe on the one side and blue and rusty red on the other side so I've managed to make the cushion covers reversable....depending on what colour mood I'm in on the day :-)
There was just exactly the right amout of fabric to make the cushion covers.....It sort of said they were meant for the job :-)
This is just a quick snap of the mess I made while making the cushion pads....especially for those of you who think I never get messy :-)
I've had a really busy week with sewing so far.....thrilled to say business is really picking up at the mo. I've shortened several pairs of trousers, altered two window blinds and on my desk today is this.......
[of course it will stay like this til tomorrow because today I will be playing with the twins :-) ]
I have been asked to make two huge boxed cushion covers and 5 large square cushion covers for a settee out of the gorgeous fabric on the roll at the back......Isn't it gorgeous? It's a strong furnishing fabric and she wants all the cushion covers with zips so they will take me a while to make [and I will probably have to wait til that big sister of mine can spare me an hour to help me cut the fabric first....two pairs of hands makes the job so much easier :-) ].
So there you go....that's what I will be up to this week. How about you? Please leave me a little message so I know you've called by and I will pop over to yours as soon as I'm able to see what mess clutter crafty creations you're sharing this week.
Hugs,
Annie x
Ooh, love that fabric you are now playing with - big job and I would not have a clue where to start.
ReplyDeleteGreat cushion covers you have done, very patriotic.
Love your blog header - daffs are just sunshine to me on a dull day.
Hugs & Thanks for the visit, Neet 23 xx
Hi Annie, well your cushion covers look fabulous and a great job to make them reversible. AND that other fabric is gorgeous, it will look super when finished...I've made quite a few zippered covers so after you've got the first done the rest are easy....get the zip in first. Enjoy your week and thanks for visiting my desk Cheers RobynO#22
ReplyDeleteI love those cushion covers! I would smile every time I saw them, superb material.
ReplyDeletePlease business is picking up for you ...
Have a good week

ReplyDeleteJust snatching quick break - love the fabric - will try and get round tomorrow morning. x
ReplyDeleteYou are a busy bee aren't you ...... Nothing new there though is there the fabric looks amazing ...... Is that a whole roll..... Must be a lot but then it sounds like a lot of work so you'll need it.. Not sure how big the cushions are.
ReplyDeleteI had handyman making a teepee last week ...... It didn't quite work out though ( not his fault) might try again a t the weekend

Lovely cushions, nice idea to make them reversible depending on your mood.

Your cushion covers turned out well. I like the fact they are reversable.
ReplyDeleteBut that roll of fabric is so gorgeous! Never seen anything like it!
Thank you for commenting on my page. I'm glad they is another (sad?) person out there that loves jigsaws. I'm not sure doing a puzzle on a computer is quite the same thing. I do big 1000 pieces puzzles. You couldn't see it properly on a screen. (I think, I've never done it...)
Have a good week,

What great cushions you made! Love that you used a curtain and gave it new life. The colors and material look so beachy and nautical to me. Perfect for a boat! The other material is so pretty, it will be lovely for her sitting area. Winnie #48
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to hear things are going well for you. Hoping you have a great crafty week. Happy woyww, Angela x 36 x
ReplyDeleteThe cushion covers do look fabulous! I'm sure you are having a great time today! Oh! and yes, the fabric is gorgeous! Chrisx 63
ReplyDeleteHello Annie,
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the cushions! I like that oilcloth-type material. Here it costs a pretty penny (rather than an old rusty one)! tee hee
The fabric for the cushions is absolutely gorgeous! You'll definitely have to share them when you are done.
Thanks for visiting me already!
Happy WOYWW

It's all cushions and seat pads that's being called for at the moment, Annie. Not to mention altering trousers - I have several pairs of my own to alter (my waist has got thinner even if nothing else has!) and three more pairs for my 'disappearing' niece - she's lost almost 5 stone :) That curtain fabric is perfect for those cushion pads - and if the EM ever has the temerity to ask me to cover some of those chair pads I'll remember to make an inner cover as you have done - such a good tip! I wouldn't say that was messy - the scraps have to go somewhere while you finish the sewing. I agree, the customer's fabric is gorgeous - really bright and cheerful. Hope you had a good day with the munchkins.

PS: That is definitely a smile you see from Bonnie!

ReplyDeleteHehe! That's not proper mess :D
ReplyDeleteGood job on making the covers reversible, will you come round and give me some sewing lessons?
Thanks for stopping by x
So smart to cover the covers first. Bright and bold. Luv it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and happy WOYWW or Thursday

Awesome idea for the cushions/covers. I do love the material you are using for the square cushions. Thanks for visiting my desk already. Between being sick, taking care of critters, gardening, and travel I have had little time to blog post. Hoping it settles down a bit so I can catch up with friends and crafty stuff. Vickie #8
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that business is picking up, Annie! If you lived anywhere near me, I would also have some cushions done! Those are wonderful fabrics! Do you keep the scraps fro smaller projects?
ReplyDeleteThank you for already visiting me.
Happy WOYWW!

Thanks for coming to see me Annie - the week had gotten away with me... and the internet decided to unfriend me again too. sigh.
ReplyDeleteYou look like you have been majorly busy - I'm always in awe at people who - in my eyes - perform magic with a sewing machine - I would love to get better at using one. When The Bear is older hopefully :)
