WOYWW...

Happy Wednesday to you all.  Here we are at yet another fun day of the week when we can all go snooping round the world at each others creative spaces.  If you want to find out more or would like to join in the fun then pop over to the Stamping Ground where Julia will have the links with all the details.

I have had some free time this week because Shell is now thankfully well enough to be able to do more herself  and hasn't needed me at hers every day. I'm certain all your kind wishes have aided her speedy recovery so thank you all for caring so very much....you really are such a lovely bunch.

In my spare time this week I've been making a start on a few ideas for Christmas.....some of which of course I can't share with you just yet but I am happy to show you my start to my Christmas cards for this year....

I spent a while searching for ideas on Pinterest and decided to have a go at some free machining with red on white fabric using a few designs that I rather liked.

Here are the eight that I've decided on so far.

After free machining the designs I trimmed each of them and rather liked them mounted on the red fabric so..

I mounted them each on a piece of red fabric and have machine embroidered each of them in place.

A closer view of a couple of them so you can see the machine embroidery detail.  I then trimmed the red fabric to leave a border and have now mounted them on white cards.
I plan to make prints of my 8 designs to use for the rest of my Christmas cards.  I hope you've enjoyed seeing my making process.

Thanks for calling by today.  Please leave me a little comment to let me know you've called and I will pop over to yours to say hello.

Hugs,
Annie x

  2. There's some hand embroidery known as Red something or other. It was popular around the turn of the 20th Century. That's really all I remember about it. I think I like yours better. They are super for Christmas cards. Happy WOYWW from # 2.

  5. Love that free machining you've done! Did you put interfacing or some other stiffer end on the back of the fabric before you started? I've bought a walking foot but really need someone to show me, I learn better that way. Must look for a class around here I think!

  9. Thanks for your visit this morning. It has been ages since I joined in and I have missed it, and it is good to catch up with everyone. I love those embroidered cards, they are just such fun, apparently simple in design but still a lot of work. Have a good week. xx Maggie #38

  10. What do you mean by free machining? what you just randomly machine in the picture? do you pencil the drawing first on the fabric? Gosh they all look so brilliant and will be perfect on cards. Sorry i am in shock that you can machine free like this I can't even sew a straight line. LOL

thanks for sharing and for visiting already

  11. What have dogs teeth got to do with it? or is that something of a sewing process? Charlie my dog won't be happy with me. Oh and what is a darning foot? now you have really confused me, yes I am blonde and can't sew a straight line.

  17. Hi Annie, your card tops are lovely - I like red and white work but just haven't got the patience, eyesight and hands to hand embroider anymore - machine sewing seems a great compromise :) And how clever to make prints of them too! Thanks for visiting earlier. I'm sure we will have a great time looking for bargains at the show tomorrow - my daughter is looking for black/white printed fabrics for a quilt she is making - hexagons all sewn by hand! And I'm looking for trims for adding to the cushion covers I make. What's the betting we'll spend a fortune :) Glad to see Shell is doing well. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #68

  18. This is something different, Annie! What a great idea. I love the red on white and the bold designs.

Thank you for your nice comment, and I'm glad you like my felt. I have seen people using a rechargable electric sander (minus the sandpaper!) to do wet felting with, which takes a lot of the physical work out of it. Some people also use a massager tool thingy over their hand. I find too much wet felting is very exhausting because I suffer from rapid fatigability of muscles, and have to take frequent breaks, but the class that was the least work was the wet felted flowers, which were quite small and didn't involve the "rocking and rolling" stage. I hope this helps! I am very exhausted tonight after the nuno felting which was harder work than I expected but still marvellous fun.

Thank you for your good wishes for Beatrice - join the queue for cuddles lol! She is doing very well after starting the new antibiotics and is eating well, so she's obviously feeling better now. She is quite high maintenance but sooo worth it as she's a little poppet.

    Happy WOYWW,

  19. Wow, I didn't realize they were sewn until I read what you wrote. How amazing! Beautiful. I've tried to sew on a scrapbook page just randomly but my machine doesn't like it, and is happiest when just sewing up and down. lol
Sorry I'm late in commenting. This time I decided I'd start with the last one rather than start at the beginning.
Thank you for letting me have a peep of your workspace.
    Have a good week
