WOYWW...

Here we are at another snooping, nosey fun day.  Wednesdays are my favourite day of the week when we can all share our crafty spaces and show our friends what we have been up to in the previous week.  This week has been one of snow snow and yet more snow for us.....will share a pic later with you  :-)

On my desk today is....

As you can see I have rather a lot of knitting needles
[including 6 pairs of two of the sizes!!!!!  Why??? ]
and their old holder just wasn't big enough to hold them all and they kept falling out so this week I have made a new holder for them.....easier to pack away when we move I thought  :-)
[colour not quite right in this pic!]

I also have many circular needles and extras that didn't fit in the needle holder so I made a little velcro fastened bag for those to go in and I made this so that......

.....when the needle bag is folded up the little bag will fasten around the outside and hold them all together....clever eh?

I've also been listening to the cries of some of my little teddies to do a very important job and here are some of the ones that shouted the loudest before they were bagged up and sent on their travels.....they are leaving today so you will prob hear more about them when they arrive at their destination  :-)

The other pic I am sharing today is one of our gravity defying snow....Can you see how it has slid down the roof of our shed and is now about 18" hanging down over the edge?  You can see where a chunk has already fallen off but the piece on the left really is defying gravity and is hanging on even still....this pic was taken on Monday !!  We had about 8" of snow on Saturday morning.....and that made our little dogs struggle somewhat to go out for a pee as their legs are only about 8" long!!!

That's about it from me for today.  Please leave me a little hello comment and I will do my best to pay you a return visit later on today cos I have an extra day with my little twinny munchkins today......thankfully now much better and so is their cousin Phoebe.....and as yet neither Louise or Steve has caught the chicken pox off their sister.

The winner of the scrabble tiles was...........

.......will tell you when they have received them as they are leaving today for their new home  :-)

I know I'm a tease.  :-) :-) :-) :-)

Thanks for calling by.
Hugs,
Annie x

  1. Very clever needle storage - knitting is something I've never managed to get to grips with, so I'm slightly in awe of those who can do it! Love the snow pic. I've missed a few, but happy to be back (and with my mother in tow this time!)... Happy WOYWW!

  3. Hi Annie, love your needle storage, such a great idea but it is the little teddies that caught my eye - they are gorgeous! Great pic of the snow on the shed - amazing in fact. We have not had quite as much as you but it has been snowing constantly for a week now and the wind is so strong it has been drifting. Roll on Spring weather.... Happy WOYWW, Anne x #33

  4. Your new needle storage looks very smart, Annie and all those teddies. I wonder what a lot of teddies is called, a tangle perhanps??
There has been so much snow hasn't there. Some of these huge drifts have been sculpted into the most amazing patterns. Lets hope Spring arrives soon. I really enjoyed seeing your sunny daffodil when I arrived.

  5. wow, that snow... bet it goes with a big thump and really makes you jump! Love your knitting needle cases. Your spring blog header cheered me up, even if the weather outside doesn't (though it is sunny here today - well at the moment anyhow!) Helen, 12 oh, glad the little ones are getting better too.

  6. I like your daffodil header! Mine are all bowed down outside, not evens sniff of a flower yet. Though, we do have a weak watery sunshine peeking through this morning. The cats are sitting in pools of it by the windows, think I should do the same!
Like the needle case, I've been making those this week as well!

  7. I have daffodils out at present, only noticed them yesterday and they make me smile. Very neat needle storage there. I have a bought container but it isn't long enough, will have to have a go at making one myself. Some of my needles were my mother's, almost antiques, and lots are metal which I find easier to knit with. Have a few odd ones as my brother used some of home for fencing games (no health and safety considerations then). You could never have a tidy house with a brother,we had a dartboard on the back door and when it was taken down there was a ring of tiny holes.

  8. That's a crazy amount of knitting pins! I guess you were buying multiples of the same size everytime you were buying yarn for a new project and forgot you already had that size at home! The little Teds are great - where are they going? Not sure if you saw my comment on your blog last week, but I'm still interested in the x stitching books if you're still giving them away? Have a great week and thanks for sharing! Lucy #37 x

  9. Good storage for the needles. I made something similar the other year fro mine - but never thought to make the extra piece for the circular needles....I shall obviously have to think about that
Have a great week with your "death defying snow!"

  11. You did have a lot of snow. Looks pretty but not nice to walk in and certainly not for your little doggies.
What a brilliant idea with the two needle holders - you are so talented. have made a guess at where the teddies are going - will have to wait and see if I am right.
Thanks for sharing - Hugs, Neet 1 xx

  12. Ah you're too clever. I don't use knitting needles and especially not circular ones, but I like the closure idea! That's a mountain of teddies to package and send off into the world, how cute!

  13. Strange you should have a knitting needle holder out on your desk this week Annie. Mine used to be in a red plastic zip case but with age it’s gone brittle and is all breaking up, so time for a new one. Jan was showing us one she’d made last week, so I’ve asked her to make one for me and a smaller bag for the cable and circular needles. Great minds think alike!
I recognise those little bears. I still have mine and he goes everywhere with me in my handbag.
    Happy Crafting!

  14. Great picture of the snow, ours should be leaving this week, forecast for 50's WHOOPEE..It is 6AM and we have a huge full moon. can't wait til light comes earlier too.
And the pox always comes to our area around Easter too. Most get shots for it and avoid the hassle.
Oh the alpha squares, what a cute idea. Keeping us in suspense.
Enjoy the kids today and Happy WOYWW

  19. You have been busy with those great needle holders. I had a clear out of my knitting needles a couple of years ago, and passed all the short ones to our eldest granddaughter and I only like long ones. That still leaves me with at lest two sets of each. Living in the town that used to make all the knitting needles, we never bought any. We always knew someone who could get us some, and sewing needles too. I have a tobacco tin full of perfect gold-eyed needles. I do tend to use bamboo needles and crochet hooks these days as my hands sweat a lot and they slip through more easily. Love your teddies and I am sure they will be well loved. Hope your tidy up and clear out goes well before the move. Have a good week. xx Maggie #17

  22. Lol at your doggies. My cat Ambrose hates the snow- he goes outside for the toilet, comes back in, legs crossed & waits till he is desperate!I can understand the 6 pairs of one size- I am forever finding multiples of stuff- 4 compass cutters spring to mind straight away. Don't know when I actually last used one of em. Have a great week, hugs, Shaz xx

  23. love the needle case I have one very similar but the little bag around the outside is brilliant.
I'm sorry I still have to ask why you have so many of the same needle and would it be a 4mm by any chance?

  25. Hi Annie

Sorry, am such a bad girl - I can't caught up in other stuff yesterday so didn't get to visit you as soon as I ought to have.

Ha! You could start a knitting shop with all those needles :) Fabby storage you made there.

Someone will be happy with those scrabble tiles, your post did make me smile with things spelt out using them.

Thank you so much for calling by - belated Happy WOYWW and a Happy Easter. Hugs, Di xx #51

  26. This is my second visit, just to fill in more background on the needle saga. Redditch was the main centre in the country for making all kinds of needles, sewing, knitting, crochet hooks, and surgical needles. Everyone knew someone who worked with the needles at some stage, so we all had contacts to acquire needles we wanted. The other two industries were springs (including Anglepoise lamps) and fishing tackle, including the most beautiful hand made fishing flies. A lot of the work was done as outwork in people's homes, often by the women of the town as they could fit that in round looking after the children. Redditch used to have the highest concentration of outwork in the country. Sadly, all those industries have now gone abroad where they can be made more cheaply. A real sham and the quality is not there now. Hope you find this interesting. xx Maggie #17

  28. Hi Annie, fabulous collection of knitting needles. I passed my huge collection on to my daughter when I stopped knitting years ago but, like you, I had doubles of several sizes and I know why! I'd go on holiday with no intentions of knitting, soon weary of that and go find the nearest shop selling wool, etc., and, of course, I needed to buy yarn, pattern and needles. You've probably done something similar too :)) Love the teddies - I can see them being well-loved and cuddled by lots of little hands. Have a lovely Easter weekend. Elizabeth x #45

  30. I'm sorry, you craftd something for yourself? Aren't there rules about that? I'm sure it's not allowed. Don't worry, I won't tell the craft police.

Thank you for visiting and have a great Sunday.
    Cheers, Rachel

  32. Wow Annie your so clever, I really love the knitting needles bag. I have become an addicted crocheter (not sure if thats a word lol) and I am also taking some freebie sewing classes on the net, so I think my first item will be a crochet hook bag lol. All those teddies, they are gorgeous, my poorly bear is always close by, and he especially makes me smile when I am in pain, a true gem. I'm sorry I'm late this week, mum had a type of pnumonia (spelt wrong but can't be bothered to look in dictionary lol), she is out now but on alot of medication and oxygen. Hence why I'm so late with everything. Hows the house move going? I hope you will pass on your address when you move as I would love to make something for your new home. I just want to say Annie thank you so much for being here for me, things are settling down ish lol (eek touch wood!!!) and it gives me time to dwell and remember the ones who have been there to support me :-). I nearly took photos of my sewing machine the other day to email you with, but I decided against it as your way too busy. I was thinking, maybe when your set up in your new house, and your computer is set up, if you do skype we could have a crafty session via the web, I have seen quite a few crafters doing it and it would be wonderful to have my mentor doing it with me. Right think I needs to go to bed lol, Happy Woyww :-) Hugs Kerry xxx p.s. I took my crutches and it was the best thing I did lol, I'm thinking of using some alcohol inks on it to brighten it up lol xxxx
