Happy Wednesday to all my WOYWW friends. It's just a quick post from me this week cos I have two little special friends here for an extra day with Nanny Annie today.
On my desk today is...
The, nearly finished, latest poppy picture. I have now machine embroidered it and added black beads to the poppies. I have put it under the mount here but want to buy a red inner mount to fit it because I feel that would set it off better.....if anyone knows of a good on line site that sells picture mounts could you please let me know.
I've just enlarged part of it for you to see it in more detail.
Here is Lexi modelling a pair of slippers her Great Aunty Jo made for her....they are really warm and cosy but she refuses to keep anything on her feet....we are now looking for little slipper socks to see if those will work.....she is only a size 2 1/2 so it is really hard to find anything small enough.
A quick peep into my knitting basket....I'm knitting a scarf to match a pair of Lexi's mittens.
I have started working on an idea I've got for my Christmas cards.....I've ironed Vylene to the back of some gorgeous dyed green fabric I bought at the quilt exhibition on Sunday to stiffen it [my last post shows some pics I took there]. I then machine embroidered it, cut it up into Christmas tree shapes and have then hand embroidered some stars on it with some of the fab random dyed thread I bought at the exhibition too [......actually this is the thread Jo bought for me as part of an early birthday present....thanks Jo I love it].
Well folks that's it from me for today. If you leave me a comment I will do my best to pay you a return visit in between nappy changing, playing, feeding etc etc

ReplyDeleteYour poppy pic is superb. I suggest trying cutting strips of red card and mitring them at the inner corners to create an inner mount. It only needs to be showing by a couple of mm and it looks perfect if you do it accurately and it saves another expensive mount. I have often done this successfully. Spend your money on the outer mount.
You and Jo should invest in your own mount cutter (which cuts the edge at an angle) as you do so many. I used to have a really good chrome one and a friend borrowed it, had it so long that she now insists it was her's in the first place and I can't get it back!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat cute little slippers. I need some of those to keep my tootsies warm. DD had some slipper soaks when she was small, we had the same problem with so many lost shoes around the country. One made it's way all the way back from a Cornish holiday only to be lost the next week in our local M&S!!! I'm off to have a dig around to see if we still have the slipper soaks she had, they may not be small enough though. Will get back to you.

ReplyDeleteI haven’t woywwed this week but thought I would drop by a few friends.Those slippers are magic ...our twins had tiny feet and Emma knitted tiny boot slippers ...not sure they stayed on much either.

Beeeyoootiful pic, and a great tip from Jo...I have to say that she is a WEALTH of that sort of stuff in person, a walking craft encyclopaedia! Lexi's cute little legs and feet in those stockings and shoes!! My *ahem* baby would wear a hat and gloves all day, but preferred and still prefers, bare feet. I learned not to be bothered unless she touched me with them!!!!

ReplyDeleteLexi's tootsies look great in the wee slippers. Have to admit my two 'babies' never like shoes and so, with the encouragement of their doctor, I left them to go barefoot indoors - however, that was fortyish years ago and opinion may well have changed a lot since then.
I'm still chuckling over your comment :) Rub n' Buff is a gilding wax that is great for adding metallic finishes to projects. I have several colours. As for reducing the signs of aging, sadly, no, in fact I have a verdigris shade that does just the opposite :))

ReplyDeleteHi Annie, sorry I'm late this week, all preparations for Shans birthday party on Saturday took up alot of my time, she is having a sleepover on Saturday this week but it's only small so I can handle that. Then Sunday and Monday I spent on the sofa with shaking, cold, dizzy yuk today is the first day I'm up and about, this cold virus has been a bugger. Bradley was really good on Saturday and is really trying at the moment so that is good, mind you I have him on strict rules. I so loved last weeks Friday smiles, they are growing up so fast and it seems Lexi is going to be all over the place bless her. All those gorgeous quilts you saw on Sunday, they looked stunning, and your poppy picture is out of this world, is beautiful. I love how the red and white mount makes it pop. Loved your knitting basket, I'm trying to crochet, I have bought books and a dvd so I hope to be able to make little flowers soon lol.
