FIRE WARNING!!!...

There is never a dull moment here as you know and last night was no exception.  I was enjoying 5 mins chill out time after tea having had a wonderful Funday Monday with Jo and suddenly I could see flames shooting high into the sky from over our hedge on the front of our house.  Both hubby and I quickly put our shoes on and ran outside to find our neighbour at the other end of our row of terrace houses has set the hedge on fire.  This hedge is was about 8 foot high and 30 metres long going all the way from the road right up the the houses and it was having buckets of water thrown at it to try to put out the fire.  His wife had bought him a new weed burner for the garden and he had been trying it out!!!  As we ran down the front drive I heard the fire engine on it's way from the other end of our village so of course I ran back in to get a snap for you....couldn't miss the chance could I ?  [so sorry I didn't get a better one of the men in uniforms for you] ;-)

I will add that it took the firemen a good 3/4 hour to dampen down the flames and put the fire out and thankfully no one was hurt.

I have two special little munchkins here for the day today  [both taking their morning nap at the mo so I've just cleared my 'to do' rail] and have three other little people coming to play with Nanny Annie tonight so I think we will have enough excitement today  :-)

  1. oopsie, has the wife not learnt to keep flammable things away from Hubbys? lol, its the first thing I learnt, lol, when he put a nail through the gas pipe while I was at work! Since then Boys arent allowed toys in my house, lol, glad your all safe and sound, xx

  2. Whoops!!! We have a rather strange neighbour who casually flicked his cigarette end into their wheelie bin on bin day err, as you do?), when it was parked right in front of a huge hedge. Next thing we knew, the bin and bush were in flames, said bin was naughtily full of dried out garden trimings - he ran in and out of the house, barefoot with a washing up bowl trying to put the 'burning bush' out - shouting 'Oh my god, oh my god'. My weird sense of humour did turn to the Bible story of Moses and the burning bush - but I bet Moses wasn't running to and fro like something demented with washing up bowls of water:)

Sorry if I made you snort with laughter this morning, it's sometimes difficult to know if things are really funny to others when I do a Tuesday Tale, hence the lack of a health warning :)

    Hugs, Di xxx

And cuddles to the sleeping scallywags!

  3. Any excuse to have men in uniform around the "gardens"!

  4. So I'm guessing the neighbour will be using a good, old-fashioned hoe to keep the weeds under control from now on. At least he won't have to clip the hedge for a while ...

  5. Holy moly, that was a close call. Oh, but next time please do get a photo of the firemen.... there is nothing more appealing than a man in uniform (pretty much ANY uniform will do)!

Glad it was put out and noone was hurt.

    Hugs,
    Kay

  8. Oh no,men and fire - not a great combination! DH was burning some documents today and he got about 6 'be careful' warnings from me and then 3 buckets of water went on the ashes.
